What I love about the Mk2s is how friendly they are to your respective space. Knowing they sound great in a tight space against a wall or a big open room is very appealing. I know other speakers can do it too, but it’s comforting knowing what you’re gonna get with Klipsch

Andrew & Kristi, great video! I can't imagine how hard it was to make a comparison between the 8000F-II vs the R700. 😆 I truly appreciate what you noted about low-level listening. It is often difficult to find speakers that perform well at low-levels with intelligibility. I also appreciate Kristi's comment: "You have to know what kind of listener you are, and be OK with it." I wholeheartedly concur.

Wow, what Kristi said definitely hit different. It was like a “check yourself” moment…for me anyway. I have a 7.2.4 setup with majority of Definitive Technology speakers and recently purchased Anthem MRX 1140 (moving from a RZ50). But as you continue to watch these videos of new speakers and AVRs you are always question whether or not it’s good enough.

@@user-gs4oi1fm4l Wow. That's really good to know. I'm transiting from a studio environment to an audiophile set up that I can also use for listening, but also A/B testing masters. At certain times of the night, low level listening would be handy.

I purchased the Polk R 700 on a leap of faith based on 3 outstanding reviews, one of which was yours. Like you, I have a wide appreciation of different types of music. I wanted a versatile speaker that didn’t necessarily need a sub and I am not disappointed at all. So far the only system I’ve heard them with is my home theater. My amp for that system is a refurbished Carver TFM 25 which is rated 350 watts per channel at 4 ohms with the rest of the surround speakers driven by a Yamaha Aventage. For the money, the R700’s are the ones to beat due to my musical taste. My other system is a pair of Carver Amazing Platinum driven by a Sunfire 600 and Sunfire tube preamp. That system was a gift and is on another level. But, things change and my home theater system will eventually have to be my only system. Thanks for all you knowledge and advice.

After 20 years with the Athena Technology Audition Series this past week I replaced my floor speakers with the Klipsch RP-8000F II. Even in the first hour of setting these up I could tell the 8000F II are going to be fun and rewarding to own. I wrestled for so long over whether to get the R700 or or 8000F II but in the end I think I had to recognize the fact that the older my hearing gets the less compelling a flat/neutral "audiophile speaker" is to me. Although the measurements as you showed on the 8000F is relatively flat, there is something about that Klipsch sound that I appreciate the older I get. Thanks Andrew and Kristi for being a part of the journey via your channel!

I just wanted to thank you, Andrew; this review opened my eyes to the Klipsch RP-8000 family, so I went and checked out a set of the RP-6000 (all that was available to demo) and was blown away. I ended up buying the RP-8060FA II (on sale for $1799.00/pr) and am just totally amazed at the clarity, definition, and power these deliver. I have the MK1 RP-8000F and absolutely love them. I know you two are not as much of a fan of gloss black, but I bought them in the Piano Black Lacquer finish and it is a game changer in quality and beauty! Mine are in a dedicated room so I don’t have to worry about danger of getting scratched, but my gosh, I think that finish is totally overlooked and underrated. Wish they would bring it back for MKII. Definitely gives them a genuine premium look and feel.

Great review and comparison, I really appreciated the way you included subjectivity in the discussion. Having bought the Polk R700s, actually before your initial review, your description of them was spot on. For me, I get listening fatigue quite easily and quickly, so the Polks are perfection for my purposes. I have to say that I sought that higher end sparkle when I was much younger, and could see myself possibly going for the Klipsch back then. But I’m a very happy man in the here and now with the Polks. Great video guys!

Thanks to you, in part, we did get a pair of the RP-8000F speakers about 2 years ago (thankfully, in piano black). Absolutely love them! They are enjoyed by themselves for most of our listening; however, we kick on the Klipsch subwoofer when watching movies or listening to music at spirited levels. With that said, I often think that I left the sub on, and when I go to flip the switch, I find that it is already in the off position. That just reinforces the point that they really do produce enough low-end for low to mid level listening. For those with the series 2 on their short list... as a series 1 owner, I say go for it. Now begins my quest to replace my 23 year old Yamaha, so I'll be watching a lot more "Andrew Robinson" reviews. God bless and please keep the content flowing. Edit: These are listened to in a 2.1 setup for all purposes. Decided to ditch 5.1 and are all the happier for it.

Thanks Andrew and Kristi, love the video as usual. As a former owner of the original 8000F, I can say they do have such a special sound that makes vocals really pop. They deliver far above their price range with nearly any receiver due to their insane sensitivity. My dream pick would be the Paradigm Founder which after hearing Paradigm nearly 20 years ago, I never forgot that experience. I’d love to hear your opinion on the Paradigm line if they ever send demos.

I don’t have nearly the experience with a variety of equipment like you two do. Your reviews of the Klipsch RP8000F II and of the Onkyo RZ50 hit a responsive chord in me and like I said in my post below, I ordered the receiver and the speakers. I added a Klipsch SPL 120 subwoofer. All I’ve done so far is to hook them up with my 75” Samsung TV. The sound is awesome! The clarity of the speakers is incredible. The more I listen to them, the more impressed I am. If the only person who has to like the sound of my system is me, color me pleased! Thank for sharing your insights!

After listening to your review a few times, I decided to play with my RP-8000F mk 1 position. I had them about 16” away from the wall toed in so they pointed straight at my sitting position. I moved them closer to the back wall and as you suggested for the mk 2 changed the toe in so each face to the sides of my head, not straight at me. Wow. Big difference. Much better imaging and soundstage when listening to stereo music (pure direct). Played Yosi Horikawa Spaces album, very loud! In the track Crossings, though the trucks were going to run over me. Amazing. Always learn something from you. Thanks.

You can do a lot of stuff but you just move the problems (peaks & cancellations). With a dsp you can solve a lot of this problems so a placement in corners (subs) or speakers closer to the wall isnt such a big deal, you can minimize the Problems with it. Genelec has some great guides how you can place speakers

Great review as ever. I've not listened to many Klipsch speakers but from listening to your various reviews, I started looking on Facebook market place and managed to pick up a pair of RP-280FA's and a 450c for £800. I do believe I got myself a bargain. I love the sound. Best speakers I've ever had. I need some rears but I need a new receiver first as my ancient Yamaha V375 doesn't have atmos. I own the 8000F II and have been very happy with them, driven by an Onkyo RZ50 in a simple 3.1 setup tuned with Dirac Live, and an RP-404C center. I think a big plus is how easy they are to drive, Klipsch have always been an efficient speaker, they are great both quiet and loud, and no issues with noise floor. I don't think I need an amp until I add more channels. In pure stereo, I found the speakers are very good as well but adding the sub does add a little something extra, so I usually listen to music in "stereo" mode which adds the sub. You will definitely want a sub for a full home theater experience to get the full LFE experience (e.g. Top Gun Maverick was amazing!). The biggest downside is they are quite big, so you need a big room, and of course you need to happy with the look and finish. Long time watcher of the channel, thanks for reviewing these, I made my decision on these in part to your review of the v1 product (and your review of the RZ50 as well).

LOVE you guys. Amazing review as always! Thanks to you both and your awesome reviews, my wife & I went to hear the Klipsch Cornwall and Forte speakers this week at a local HiFi dealer. Sadly, he had JUST sold his La Scalas so no dice on hearing those. Sad face. He had us listen to the Cornwalls first (prob a sales ploy), and we both instantly fell in love. I mean we were GOBSMACKED! We instinctively danced together right there in the middle of his sales floor. And we truly felt like we were at a live, intimate concert. It's been 3 days and I still wake up thinking about that Cornwall sound, and I can't wipe this damn smile they gave me off my face. Kristi, I know you like the Fortes better, but to us those sounded nearly identical just with more bass (we're both not big fans of lots of bass), but the Fortes had a noticeably smaller sound (sorry!). Like what they are... a smaller, skinnier Forte. For the small (relative) price increase to Forte, I'd pick Cornwalls 10/10 even though they are HUGE in physical size. The Cornwalls cost a lot more on an absolute basis, but not relatively much more, and for us they'd be an end game speaker. You guys totally made the right choice imo going Cornwall over Forte, although I'm not the one moving yours weekly. :) My questions for both of you include: how close due the RP-8000F II's come to your Cornwalls or the Fortes Kristi likes better? As a %, do the RP-8000F II's get you 80% there? Would the near $4-5k saved be worth it with the RP-8000F IIs vs. the Klipch Heritage line? Will the RP-8000F IIs put a similar smile on my face like the Heritage line is capable of?

I think the 8000Fs could totally make someone happy. I know Kristi prefers the 8000s to the Cornwalls but you may feel differently. I still maintain that the sweet spot in the Heritage line is the Fortes. I waited years to purchase a home audio speaker, got the MK I. The II’s came out like 4 weeks after purchase, and I was able to make the swap (and get a free 15” sub). I enjoyed the mk I; the II’s did sound more refined while being a ton of fun. Me and my wife enjoy listening to record after record on these things every single night. Weekend movies are fantastic as well w/ Marantz sr 6015.

Great video! When I was researching what speakers to get, the Polk R700 was a candidate with several others, also the Klipsch RP-8000 2. I went with the R700 and I'm not disappointed at all. The higher up Marantz SR series is a great combo with them (a bit cheaper now because new Cinema series), rich detailed sound and power for the money. They rumble my soul to life every day, and my neighbours! Thanks for the guidance!

Thanks for posting your reply. It's just what I was looking for, to see what I should pair the new SR6015 Marantz with. I think I like more neutral sounding speakers, so Polk looks like the choice for me, even though my 64 year old mind still wants that old lively speaker style, the fatigue factor kicks in much sooner than the younger years.

@@royalway12 I don't think you will be disappointed. Everyone that has heard my sound get surprised with a big grin on their face, also a music producer wanted the same setup when he heard it. I now have the SR-7015 bi-amped to my R700's and it made a big improvement in depth and control. Give the R700's a couple months to soften up, I played on low volume so it took me 4-6 months for the sound to get deeper, punchier and more relaxed. Believe me when I say: you don't need a sub with these! I have a REL sub but only turn it on when watching movies on higher volumes. I like neutral sound too, and never needed to eq, pure-direct for music sounds wonderful in all genre's.

If you want a 2 channel or 5-7 channel home theater speaker I think these would be great, if you mainly play rock or electronica on a 2 channel system ditto. But after giving them a listen the polks sounded better all around to me. Not to mention the Klipsch always has that signature look, v smile sound and to my eyes sub par finish. WELL you guys have it easy and right on the money. For for me the R700s are just a fantastic speaker! That speaker is a stunning home run. But the slight warmer tilt makes everything I’ve heard make them some of the best. The 8000’s if you are in a theater type use are insanely fun. Do I want that year around? No. So there is only one answer that solves that problem, you have to buy both and get the best of both worlds. If you want an option for less, depending on the subwoofer you buy, Kristi nailed it. The Lumina two is a speaker that when you hear them, you will NOT forget. At 1200 bucks, you’d have to spend a lot more than that to replace that sound! Thanks Guys

But when you did the review on the 600m Il you said something like you wouldn't just get rid of the previous gen just yet, there's not a night and day difference between the two and because I also have the RP 600 it made me feel a little better and when I added the basX 3 to the 8000's I now feel satisfied with my purchase and can live with them for now. Hello from Ireland. I waited many years to be in a position to afford to get into the AV world. I had fallen in love with the signature copper on black Klipsch look many years ago. Being completely new to all this, your video on the 8000F Mk1 convinced me to purchase early last year, and I love them. Unfortunately, the 2's came out not long after I purchased. However, in keeping with your motto "the only person who has to like the sound of your system is you", and I have no interest in chasing the dragon, I will not be running out to upgrade. I now have the RF7III's and RC64III up front and the 8000's are now my rear surrounds with 6000F's on the sides. For now everything is running on a Denon AVC X8500HA. Would something like an Emotiva XPA DR3 for the LCR be of any benefit. From what I read, the RF7's and RC64, while very sensitive, seem to do better with more power. Any thoughts? Many thanks for a for all you hard work.

I’d like to know that as well. I’m trying to decide between KLH 5’s and the RP 8000f ii’s. I’m primarily a jazz listener(Miles Davis, Coltrane, etc) and do 50/50 with home theater in our medium size room. Love the fun/live sound of Klipsch, but wish they had better center dispersion…

Would you consider anything from Emotiva or SVS as a choice to keep on your list when shopping for towers compared to the 8000f ii? Would love to give these a listen in person based on this review. I like Klipsch's path of minor improvements rather than sweeping changes.

😆😆 @ the frequency response zoom in zoom out joke. As for the QOTD, even though I haven't heard either, I'd probably vote for the Polk R700 and here's why. The Klipsch are fantastic, but after owning Klipsch myself the comparison I would make is this....the Klipsch are like the hot date you are looking forward to going out on when you're first together, honeymoon phase of the relationship. The Polk R700 is the one you settle down with, want to live day to day with, and spend your life with. The Klipsch sound is SO FUN, but I find my ears a little tired after about an hour. With the rolled off tweeter, the Polk I imagine is going to have me keep pressing play on my music longer so I'd give it the nod. 👍 Great video!

Appreciate you weighing in and you're not wrong about the longevity and ease of the Polk listening experience. In our room though, the Klipsch aren't as bad or as bright as they may be in others. Toe-in and distance to the speaker do play a role in the "brightness" factor.

Hello, Andrew and Kristi. Good morning. I have just purchased a pair of Kliptch R-820 F. I've always wanted a pair of Kliptch. Can't wait to hear them through my SX 950 or 1050, but I expect they will perform as I think they would. Thanks for the channel.

Great review! I have a pair of both the Klipsch RP-8000Fs and the Polk R700s playing through a Denon AVR-5803 along with a Polk sub & centre. I like the neutrality of the R700s and the punch of the RP-8000s. The blend of the two is heaven to my ears. My neighbours have no sense of humour. ;-) I'm thinking about either painting the R700s white or perhaps applying a pickled oak veneer and lighter cloth to visually shrink them. Cheers 🙂

Have the 280f, listened extensively to the 8000f and the 8000f II's as well... The refinement between each generation has been stellar and I have loved the improvements to the sound. My only gripe is the finish as well... Theyre just not good. I think the original rp line finishes looked nicer

Thanks! That answers my question as to my RP-280FA's as that is the first in this line and they have improved and refined a lot since. Oh well, have to save up my disposable for a new pair. I pick these by the bye as I have 11 speakers I am driving without separates so they have to be easy!

I'm over 40 now, and most of the jobs I've had in my life were either in construction or in an industrial setting. The top end of my hearing isn't as "crisp" as it used to be. I'd probably find myself gravitating to the Klipsch for the added vocal clarity. Plus I like the sound of my RP600's. That said, I've only heard the R700 as a demo in an audio shop. I haven't had a chance to listen to the XT F100, but have owned earlier products in the Motion series line and was reasonable satisfied with their sound. How would you say the 8000F II compare to a heritage series Klipsch, like the current Forte's?

I am running the RF-83's with the matching center and surrounds and an SVS sub connected to an Integra pre-amp and outlaw audio seven channel 200W Per Channel amplifier. I have been running them for close to ten years and they still sound fantastic. Yes my system is old.

There are a couple things I want to say here. First, a thank you. I was never a fan of the Klipsch visual aesthetic. But your continued reviews of Klipsch got into my blood. I wanted to hear that “live” sound. That the musicians were right in front of me. I already own Monitor Audio Gold 200s which are detail monsters but don’t have that live sound. So I decided to get the budget RP-600 mk2 after your review. I’m still paying for it so it’s not yet delivered. But a thank you anyway. I’m looking forward to it. Secondly, what are your thoughts on The Last of Us TV show. I mean you’ve mentioned the game like a million times already. I played the original game on PS3 many times over so much that it started to make me really depressed because it really is the most harrowing story ever brought to a video game. I had to stop though I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t even approach the second game to play. If the “Clickers” aren’t bad enough, it’s the “Bloaters” who I find absolutely horrific. I had to find a guy on KZbin who had put all the cutscenes of Part 2 together into a 10 hour video that I watched in one day. OMG! Anyway, your thoughts on the show??? No spoilers here….❤

I own the prior version in the home theater. I use them for 2-channel as well. I bought the pair for just over $1000. They are awesome and I will not be changing them out. In my audio room, I have Klipsch Epic CF-2's I picked up near mint at an estate sale for $100. Several times over the last few years, I have been going to replace these. Every time I get close, I realize I love their sound with my gear. With that said, I am pretty sure I will pull the trigger on the new Martin Logans.

Yet another awesome video👏 I always enjoy the fantastic mix of geeky, professional and down to earth reviews you guys make :) I got myself a pair of these for Xmas and are looking for something not too expensive to drive them. I have been thinking about Denon DRA800H since I don't feel the need for surround. Do you have any thoughts on how this receiver would do with the 8000F II ? Best regards Stian
