Travis Barker epitomizes Punk Rock Drumming for me. The Look, the Energy, and he's a beast behind the kit. You have to appreciate a virtuoso that sits comfortably among the Masters of his Craft rocking a Mohawk. I'm going to run back thru Blink's catalogue, it's been a while. Good talk, Anderooney. Edit- Also, Blast Beat Piano by Rob Scallon is worth a listen if you've not heard it.

there's a lot of great drummers. personally, for me, he was the reason i got into drumming. when i first heard the album "take off your pants and jacket", i was blown away by the creativity of his beats. it was unlike any other rock/punk/pop-punk band i've listened to. combined with tom's guitars, and it was just so different. idk, i find his style for fun to play and goes with blink's music very well.

That comment is probably out there but that video is from 2003-2004 before their first breakup. Also, this is my favorite video of him because he was trully in his Prime during that era. This video is the video you show to a sceptic who says he doesn’t bring anything to the table. He made rudiments accessible and fun for everyone. Especially on 4 chords songs.

For realz!! If any of the shade throwers knew anything. They would know Travis actually did play jazz at some point. He also is very technical because of the years of drum line in school. I don't know shiz about shiz playing the drums. But I hear something completely different from what the shade throwers say. Glad I wasn't the only one to pick up on that.

For me, his best piece of work was with Boxcar Racer. With Blink-182, there's no denying that Travis' drumming is great but listen to the BoxCar Racer album. He literally took his drumming to a whole new level. Songs for reference : - Tiny voices (especially the intro and the bridge) - And I - There is (very interesting rudiments on the snare) - The end with you (the pattern on the hi-hat in the bridge is some next level s***).

Much like Bill Ward, Travis always impressed me with how incredibly hard he hits, while displaying such nuance and impeccable phrasing! While bludgeoning his drums into oblivion. He’s like a pitbull behind the kit! Like his entire body is being incorporated into generating disgusting beats, like a damn Cyborg! Always inspired me to deep dive into rudiments!!! Many drummers, genre non-specific, forget the basics. Most everything in drumming is an extension of the basics. Rudiments are the key to mastering your craft, if there is such a thing!! 🤔🤔

Just to let you know this is actually older than what you think this is before his plane accident that was really bad he was out for almost 2 years of not playing drums getting skin grafts if you've ever heard of the story just go look it up about how bad it was that he's lucky to be alive today and if you still see he has a mohawk I believe this is 2007 because I can also look at his legs he doesn't have any scarring on his legs I could be totally wrong but I did my homework this morning I'm not saying you're wrong at all this is actually one of my favorite videos there's one whole video I know they made them into Parts but I like what he does when he does certain grooves on here it's awesome you can see how fast he really is in real life he has a lot of control and a lot of stick control also he always recommends the book on stick control which I lost so I have to buy a new one but I'm a third-generation drummer and I do appreciate you liking my comment on the Godsmack drum off with Sully I was the one that said that Sully was in a rock band in the early 90s maybe early 80s that's why you know that a drum so good but to be honest I've been watching your show for a year-and-a-half now and subscribed because I like the reactions you get when you see shit pardon my language and my family have a third-generation drummer so I have the respect for drummers all around the world that's all I wanted to say hope everybody has a wonderful day hope you have a wonderful day and be safe. 4:56 100% correct! But also the sound guy should be able to make adjustments during the show. It’s crazy how bad so many sound guys are they like to think loud is best and blame bad sound on the venue. The big venue in my town all the big bands play is an old armory hard wood walls and floors so when it’s loud in there the sound bounces all around and when the sound guy has the mix too loud u can’t hear anything good. The house sound guy always had a decent mix and when bands use their own sound guy it’s crap

I appreciate what you're saying about soundcheck, Andrew, but a singing voice can be so fragile, especially in the middle of a tour. I've very rarely heard any singers going for it during soundcheck. Hell, singers who are SUPER protective of their voices only whisper on show days. I know Geddy Lee was very protective of his voice as he aged when Rush was on tour.

No word of a lie , every time I did blink as a warm up before band my bpm was always too fast after lol when you can play his songs , you feel the speed difference immediately. Travis has bin a idol of mine since I was around 10 years old . There is no ONE in the world more recognizable on a kit for me, I can just tell when it's him playing .

Travis is a beast, and massively underrated. If you want to hear some mindblowing live-drumming, check out the Blink 182-album "The Mark, Tom and Travis Show". I wish there was drumcam-footage of that show, it's so good... Great reaction! Another suggestion to watch is Ken Bedene from Aborted. Yes, another one of those blastyboiis but this man does it all so effortless on a simple 4-piece kit, and the fill on 1:53 gives me intimate tinglies. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/paG7e4Rth8ikhqc

His drumming is fantastic, but it just seems like a lot of wasted energy to play the kit so "big" and animated. I appreciate a good showman drummer, but sometimes it can get out of hand and look over-exaggerated. But hey, it's worked for him for over 20 years, so who am I to critique?
