That backbeat during the chorus always makes me goosebumps. Darkside is a cymbal magician. Also his drumming creating huge tension from the beggining of the song, love it! About the masks. As it was stated by Mgła's frontman: "One of key approaches within Mgła is removal of aspects that we consider unnecessary. In this case, it is ourselves as individuals. The use of masks is an attempt to get rid of the rock n’ roll heritage of musicians being “idols” or “heroes”. Instead, Mgła live is an unit, where “who does what” is of little relevance.”

Hope you liked it. For me this is one of - if not the best - metal albums to come out in the last decade. Ive probably spun this album a thousand times by now, but Ive personally never had the chance to see them live, nor have I watched them play in a video til today. To me its super cool to see him chain the cymbal hits together that quickly and intricately by being comfortable enough to swap hands for snare hits. I love how that cymbal play really just grabs me and pulls me along during the relentless grind that is this album.

One of the most impressive pieces of drumming I've ever seen

It might look like hes gripping high on the stick because he's using longer sticks. A lot of death and black metal drummers use heavier, longer sticks as they have more momentum for things like blasts. Lets you relax a bit more while you're playing as counter-intuitive as it sounds.

I'm gonna throw this out there. This music is so huge, epic, with such space and emotion and personal focus, I want to write a "musical" with this type of music. Not a typical happy musical, not a campy funny "scary" musical but one that deals with real themes of darkness, hopelessness, betrayal, war. I listened to a lot of music on deployment from a portable cd player. Lamb of God was the music of my time spent in Fallujah, and this music speaks lyrically and musically in a way no other form can touch. If someone can put one together, send me venue info. I'm there.

3:40 no, Brutal Assault is a metal music festival taking place every August in the Czech Republic.
@Dave-H4 жыл бұрын
😂 brutal assault is the festival, the band is Mgla and the song is Exercises in Futility V as in five, from the album Exercises in Futility. But you gotta admit that metronomic snare beat with left and right hands is top class.

Damn no way, he has only two arms? I always just assumed that he was actually an octopus with the way he plays those cymbals and still manages to be spot on with the snare.

Perhaps a bit too late but a few Polish bands wear face-coverings to remain anonymous while performing songs regarding certain topics. Black metal is inherently a controversial genre and seeks to talk about the unspeakable. MGLA's nihilistic (truly anti-nihilistic) and misanthropic messages are in throws with the Polish Catholic government which has attempted to persecute bands such as Behemoth and the Polish MSM has attempted to shut down venues of bands such as Marduk (falsely believed to be Nationalist Socialist because of creating songs regarding the German side of the Second World War). Enjoyed the video mate, cheers!

Great reactions, and nice to hear bands I haven't heard before. Those snare hits in the outro part where out of this world. Since you like reacting to metal drummers, you might want to check out Ken Bedene from Aborted. Something like Divine Impediment drum cam from Czech Reb 2018. I'm sure someone from your Patreon will suggest it eventually anyway. Greetings from literally the other side of the world.

Please do anything by Lord Marco! If you're really digging the technical metal drums, he has his own KZbin channel. I recommend: Hunhau Mitnal- "Creador y Formador". He does it blind folded with no triggers
