I’ve run a few campaigns that have completely stumped me. Very targeted, in T1/2 countries. Yet the click-thru to Spotify conversion value, say, in a 7 day period, is still significantly more than the total amount of streams for the artist in the same period. Obviously not every click-thru will turn into a stream, but it’s such a dramatic discrepancy that it seems something is wrong.

Hi Andrew, this video is a fricking gem. Thank you so much for putting out this kind of info ❤❤ I have 1 question I hope you have time to answer. When starting a new campaign with multiple ad creatives, do you run those at the same time to test? Or do you test then one by one? And if so, for how long do you run them before deciding to try a new creative? (or narrow down the selection you've got running) I can imagine this is probably also linked a bit to the budget your using? 🙏

Hey Andrew, what if once I find the cities that are engaging with my songs,the most can I run ads specifically to those cities to potentially book a show and sell tickets? I have five cities that are listening the most to my songs shouldn’t I target them with my ads now so I can sell out some venues?

Hi Andrew, Thanks so much for all of the info you share here. It's helped our project out a lot. Can you comment on Advantage lookalike? This seems to be automatically applied to my lookalike audiences and I'm wondering if it's in the same boat as Advantage audiences, in terms of messing up campaign results.

I have a question Bro, what if you make Afro Beats/ Dancehall, wouldn’t it be wise to target Africa and the Caribbean Islands? Also Spotify is huge in Nigeria also, is there a reason you don’t recommend targeting those regions? Or is it based on the kind of music you’re marketing?

So nice... Please Andrew what countries would you target for song that aren't in english (french pop artist) ?

Hey Andrew! I have a little question, I make music in spanish, I live in Chile and right now I'm releasing my first LP in january 2025. In the video you said that most countries in South America don't work for music conversions so I'm confused as to what I should do, should I do my conversion campaign and include these countries anyways since they're the ones that speak my same language or should I leave them out of the targetted countries? Would a conversion campaign for music in spanish even work for the countries in your list? If you could give me some guidance I would really appreciate it. Love ur vids they're always so helpful, take care!
@LukeBongcam10 күн бұрын
Just for clarity, my goal is to grow as an artist worldwide, I have music in both spanish and english, but the thing is that my LP has 7 songs in spanish and 3 in english. So right now I wanna target specifically countries that speak my language to grow here in the short term, and then also grow in the US and Europe in the long term. So I wanna know if it'd be a waste of money to invest in a campaign that includes Chile and the rest of the countries in my sub-continent. Thanks in advance.
@julianf518210 күн бұрын
@@LukeBongcam In my opinion, the country you live in is always your Tier #1 country. I'm willing to spend more money for stream/follow from my country than from other countries because your country will be the easiest to play a show in future in most cases, so you want people to know your music.
@Pinkpopcornmusic9 күн бұрын
@@julianf5182 that's my opinion as well. If you're looking to build a career that involves playing shows, it makes tonnes of sense to really specialise in your local market. If you can build hype there, other countries will notice in time.

Hey andrew, Would you recommend to promote a hindi song in tier 1 countries or should make select mixed audience.
@keke21810 күн бұрын
Hey Andrew, thank you for consistently dropping gems! You mentioned not to target countries mainly in Africa. For an afrobeat artist whose musical fanbase is largely in African countries like Nigeria, would you suggest such an artist to include those African countries? Do you think the reason for poor results in such countries is because of the music genre being promoted or some other reason?
@AndrewSouthworth10 күн бұрын
Hey thanks! I've worked with a few afrobeat artists and i've never had good results in Nigeria with ads. My best guess is it's because most Spotify users in Nigeria are on free plans, which is the same problem that happens in India, Philippines etc. I suspect that driving Nigerians to a Spotify playlist instead of a Spotify track might help a bit, but it might be possible that driving people to KZbin or another platform instead of Spotify might just be more effective. I know in India KZbin is the main jam for most people, so wouldn't be surprised if Nigerians had their own favorite platform that isn't Spotify. I'd just treat it carefully. Make sure you see the results translate to streams in Nigeria, and if it doesn't make a new campaign and try something else.
@keke21810 күн бұрын
@ Ahh that makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for your response!
@James_k59psn10 күн бұрын
Try KZbin ads targeting countries within Africa that are known to have audiences for your exact sub genre. If your unsure which countries have the audience best for your genre you can ask AI and they will tell you for your genre which country is likely to be the most receptive.

Does the money spent on an ad campaign actually justify the amount you receive from streams given that streaming pays so little and ads can be a bit costly?
@chrisanson24310 күн бұрын
It's not really about the payout from streams. It's more about making people aware of your profile and your music so that you get more listeners, fans and streams in the long term. Even with future new releases. This gives you a better chance of getting your song noticed by the Spotify algorithm.
@chrisdunnettmusic9 күн бұрын
@@chrisanson243 You mean like that ancient technique record labels once did called "Artist Development" ;). Yeah, that would seem to be the only way it makes sense but even then if you only spent $150 (which would obviously not be much of a "campaign" it would take you about 34,000 streams just to make that back. Most ad campaigns aren't going to do anything unless you're spending way more than that a month and I know the idea is to build up over the course of time but it just seems like that's a constant uphill battle unless you get lucky and something goes viral or just takes off.

DOes anyone know how to sort this issue out? I'm targeting my ads towards age 18-37, but I'm getting most of my views taken up by 65+ year old women? Advantage + targeting is off, so I have no idea why this is happening

I have a huge problem, i set everything correctly using feature fm, my pixel is good the, the landing page of feature fm, the conversion feature fm click is well set i set all those european countries, everything is working correctly i even test the link and website, cause i saw in my campaign that the only click conversion that went through it was only mine, 1000 impressions page views, but not one stream, so facebook ads recommendeded me to expand my audience cause my campaign might not get conversions, so i don't know whats the problem, i starting to think that the link dies when people click it in europe, i am in the dominican republic l, so i really don't know why i am not getting conversions, and believe me the promo video i upload is super nice with my best song, so it might be cause of the new privacy thing in europe, or do i need to be in the usa to run facebook ads, cause i don't know what else to do

@AndrewSouthworth3 күн бұрын
100%. That’s a prerequisite for all of this. If the music and brand isn’t interesting to the target audience no amount of marketing will change that. But at the same time if you’re amazing and not boring, but you don’t market your music and brand, nobody will ever find you. Great music *never* sells itself.

I have a theory , I notice everytime you upload songs to spotify everyday like a album release or around 7 albums (300 songs) in span of three weeks like I did , the views go up very small but it's consistant untill you stop. I use to have a very popular youtube channel back 3 years ago before they took it down due to 3 copy strikes in one week because I was uploading oldies music videos which I fixed up and it was around 800 videos in a span of 4 years but because I uploaded 2 to 3 times a week and there was a huge demand of classic oldies music on youtube , I got over 80 million views , 500k subscribers and there was no paid advertising. This is because both the peoples demand but most important the , youtube alogorythmn. My theory is if you upload some type of decent song or podcast everyday through you distributor like distrokid , spotify alogorythmn will act just like youtube and I say around three years you'll have a few million streams and this is without no paid advertising. The key is the podcast or music has to be appealing but it don;t have to be great or over produced and have them around three minutes each and upload everyday. In fact make them as youtube videos first then take the audio and upload them to distributor to get them on spotify , I would add tik tok but they may be gone in a few months. I did a lot of research on tic toc and they will be banned but Trump will negoatiate with them to not ban them but China has to let go of the company and they said no so far , so its up to China if tik tok gets banned or not.
