Dude seems so cool and pleasant off the court…but his errors drive him mad…and that goes back to his development process and whatever happened in his past. Players take mistakes hard, but this guy is next level. I’m surprised how many rackets Bublik use to go thru when tantrum happens.

ATP should mandate therapy... 3 to 6 months minimum...

Doesnt sound like a bad idea. Maybe ATP could make it an obligatory thing for him to enter therapy to be able to compete.

I think it could be done in private. It should be treated as an injury. Athletes need time off to mend physical injuries and can retain their rankings. If Rublev provides a doctor’s note saying he needs time off, he should get the same privileges by the ATP.

The officials should set a standard limit as to how many times a player behaving like this bfore a player will be fined or suspended for how many days, months or years. The players should set a good example especially to the young players!

There's often a stigma for men on going to therapy so I can understand trying to do it himself. Mental illness runs in my family so I've seen it firsthand but modern medications can do incredible things; as can psychotherapy. Practitioners can see things about you that you can't see yourself.

@@ricklee5845 Mental illness often has a biological cause. We don't think anything of treating physical illnesses like cancer, heart disease or a sprained ankle, and the same should be said for mental illness. The problem is that there is a stigma because most people don't understand that there's a biological cause that's not the fault of the person.

Definitely a great player and Definitely needs to get a handle on things and I would like him to deal with what really is going on that's preventing him from connecting the dots and dig deep into why he can get to the finish line but not able to hold steady sometimes to move forward , does that make sense?🤔🤷‍♂️ I would like to see him continue to play because he is very good at what he does but he has to approach whatever it is preventing him from pushing back I guess idk.🤔😔🤷‍♂️💪💞🙏

not to couch diagnose, but it really seems like he needs to go to a psychiatrist and get therapy concurrently. that’s classic obsessive-compulsive behavior (the self-harm with the racquet) and tbh I know it’s a huge stigma with men to go get help, but he sure needs some. I used to do something similar to him (hit my knees or thigh really hard to ‘control’ aggression/disappointment) until I got help for my OCD and now I’m much better.
@cart3sam389
@cart3sam389 23 күн бұрын
He has been very opened about his struggles with anxiety and depression. I think he knows he has problems but hasn’t found a way to manage them properly yet. It’s possible he even needs medication but idk if that’s allowed on the ATP tour.
@cristinasada4819
@cristinasada4819 23 күн бұрын
@ surely something for OCD would be allowed? I mean, it’s a brain condition (it’s not an enhancer, it’s an inhibitor)

@@cristinasada4819I have no idea but I know any professional sports organization is highly regulated in regards to drugs/medications. Plus, psych meds are notoriously bad for athletic performance so I doubt he would ever go for that, even if it would help him.

I thought he’d got better in 2023 but seems his demons are creeping back again. Whatever he did before seemed to have worked for a while. Maybe meditation & some serious time off for therapy
@ricklee5845
@ricklee5845 23 күн бұрын
Forget about therapy. Therapy is for fruitcakes of which there are a lot around, especially in women's tennis. Meditation however would be a good idea, problem is, results don't show after 5 or 10 minutes. It's serious stuff. The way I see it, the players don't have the time because of all their SM commitments and addictions.

He is losing it because he realized his playing strategy of only having the A Game Plan of hitting the ball as hard as he can all the time, is just no enough to win constantly, after his opponents had his game figured out.
@anonymousanonymous-u9f

He is frustrated because his game is not enough to kill it these days. His game relies on power and laser precision. He can’t afford mistakes at all. He has no other way to fill the gap. He is pretty much done if he doesn’t reinvent right away.

If Novak did this, he'd be DQ'd for at least 3 years, let alone just be fined, it seems the officials have more sympathy for some pros, more than others, also what about Tiafoe, did he get banned or not- had Alcaraz or Sinner done that, I'm sure much stronger action would be taken, we can't have double standards here.

I don't know what the fuss is all about. To paraphrase many of our American friends, he is just expressing himself - nothing wrong with hat. But then, if you're looking for someone who REALLY needs help, go no further than Osaka, to name but one.

And obvious parallel case: When Kyrgios was going through really difficult times in 2018 and 2019 he received nothing but condemnation and demands for a life ban, fury that he was an embarrassment to his country and a shame for tennis, that kids must never see him on their screens again. He was mocked for having mental health problems. Things have changed a little for male players and at least Rublev is receiving a lot of sympathy. He won't be crucified like Kyrgios was. Nick was fined, banned, suspended, shamed...for doing less. Smashed racquets and swore but never self-harmed in front of crowds. He was burnt out and exhausted. So is Andrey - far too many matches and no breaks. Nick has offered to fly anywhere in the world to help Rublev - perhaps that might be a great idea. He has helped many others with his deep personal experience.

lol this started long before February. It just ramped up in February because he let the pressure of the NextGen arrival at the top get to him. Alcaraz, Sinner signaled a new era and Andrey knows that his time is ticking down and he may never win a slam, so he's frustrated. He's also bisexual and coming out on tour is a problem.
