Lots of shoot them ups released in past year for pc. I grew up with them on Atari 2600, and nes, life force. Nice to build this type of category of this type of game in my steam library. Still none equal my favorite of all time. The guardian legend.

Definitely wanted to add this to my 3DS collection. Theres not very many good shmups with that 3D effect.

The original just released on Dreamcast and Andro Dunos 2 is about to release this month i believe. They just released a limited 4 disk collection of Shoot-em Ups on the Dreamcast also called Astro Port Collector. The 4 games are Satazius Next, Zangeki Warp, Gigantic Army, and Wolflame. Each disk has a different title with 2 different versions of the game on it. If you love SHMUPs and have a Dreamcast i highly recommend picking it up before they all sell out. It has a flap as you open the collection with a pop up book style battle scene with ships and mechs fighting from all the different titles. It also comes with some other collectible stuff.

Check out Shoot 1UP DX. It's different than this but also different from most others too. Another, which is favorite of mine, to check out is Freedom Finger. Oh and Habroxia & Habroxia II are great shmups similar in gameplay to Andro Dunos II.
