I would say 16 has the edge in this fight. His energy is like 17 and 18 in that it never runs out. Cell is an organic being and would eventually fatigue as the fight drags on. In addition to that he's immune to Cell's tail stab and has a bomb in his chest that's so powerful it could potentially kill Perfect Cell so Imperfect Cell wouldn't really have a hope of survival. That last scenario would be more of a draw than a victory however. For Cell to win, he would have to utilize his entire arsenal that he inherited through his DNA. Like if he did a Solar Flare followed it up with Destructo Disc to slice off 16's head. There's likely other move combinations that could secure the win as well.

@@MegasXRL only because Krillin didn't use that move immediately following the solar flare. Seriously he could have ended nearly all the villains with that combo. And I'm unsure why you think the solar flare wouldn't have any effect at all. It blinded Freeza when Krillin used it and it blinded 16 and everyone else present when Cell used it.

Not only does Cell's absorption not work, people forget 16 also is an infinite energy model. Cell is not, proven by how Piccolo claimed both Goku's and Cell's power is going down as they fight in the Cell games. Cell has hacks, but those are still something to consider. Cell's abilities become less effective when he gets weaker and weaker.

But every saiyan till this point needed to be cured by senzu beans or energy capsules, the zenkai happens AFTER they get their energy/stamina back... cell just gained a lot of ki/stamina/energy from nowhere.. i guess his zenkai works differently because he got saiyan/namek/freeza cells.... but then we have second law of newton, where does the energy he gets comes from? well if a fucking senzu bean can give goku his entire energy back i guess cell can get his energy back by his own zenkai too

@Paulo Roberto I think a lot of that may be Frieza's cells, which helped him survive mortal wounds. But yeah, he should be completely exhausted and weak after regenerating, and his Zenkai should only kick in after recovering to full again. Not to mention, his namekian cells are also overpowered, since Piccolo most likely wouldn't be able to survive being evaporated down into one cell like that.

In all honesty, if Cell hadn't absorbed 17, I think that 16 would have won. 16 and imperfect Cell were about as same strength, and it is implied that 16 is also an android that has unlimited stamina, which is a clear advantage when fighting someone with the same strength. The longer the fight dragged out, the more likely Cell would lose. Once Cell absorbed 17, he just completely defeated 16.

My head canon is that 16 was an apparent failure bc he was too kind, and that he needed a human element to maintain a desired destructive aspect. After all, what use is a weaponized android if it won't help take over the world and dominate humanity? Gero probably intended 16 to do more than just defeat goku. It's an interesting idea for me today bc people are afraid of AI becoming some sort of evil and destructive agent, but for all we know AI will turn out to be the most peaceful tech we've come up with. Plus we all know Gero is evil. He wasn't necessarily trying to save the world from what he perceived to be an evil force. No, he literally wanted to dominate the planet. So, 16 was a failure bc it wouldn't go beyond killing goku and was probably willing to kill him like 17 did. Not bc of what Gero did to him, but because he cared about the whole planet. This goes perfectly with the DBS narrative regarding 17, who now cares about all life on earth.

5:02 I actually really liked this part. Because it is hinting towards cell. I'm really suprised Cell was hinted at this early. I think it was pretty much saying that Dr.Gero went back to human based androids so they could be fused with Cell. That was the purpose for android 17 and 18 after all. Their unique biology and way they were made, made them compatible with Cell so he could reach his perfect form.

I feel like 16 was a prototype in the sense that, he had infinite energy, but all the power he had was all he was going to have. And that's why Gero went back to using kidnapped wayward teens until he figured out the energy absorption gimmick. 17 & 18 would have to train to get stronger, while 19 & 20 would just have to absorb energy to become stronger. Cell, as a biological being would definitely have started weaker than all 5 of them. The hundreds of thousand he gulped really turned the tides. That's my theory, anyhow.

I believe Gero had contingencies in place: If 17/18 become rogue, Cell will take them out. And if Cell reaches his perfect form or lack thereof as seen in the future, 16 takes him out. Hypothetical if 16 could destroy Perfect Cell with his bomb, and if he could Cell might be able to regenerate but let's say he could, then 16 would die too but if 16 takes out Imperfect Cell, then that reality would be left in peace perhaps.

Great video. I always wondered if Perfect Cell didn't immediately destroy 16 when he grabbed him, because he didn't feel 16 was a threat. Kind of like when Hercule attacked him. The power difference was so great, he wasn't worth killing.

This would have been a battle of attrition where #16 would have steadily worn Cell down until he deals the final blow. Now, on the Terminator/Schwarzenegger side, #16 would as well have thought something like "if it bleeds, we can kill it" (Predator - 1987)

I think it would be interesting because 16 has infinite stamina, but Cell can repair damage. Because Cell was able to land hits, so he would also be able to wear down 16 over time due to him being a robot and thus being unable to heal. So it's a question of what would give out 1st, Cell's energy or 16's body.

The thing about Cells regeneration is that it is in Overdrive. Namekkian regeneration is 2 state. Low level Instinctive & Mid level Attentive. Cell has Overdrive level Instinctive and Hi level Attentive. This also explains why his body expands during his self destruct action. His body expends a near total of all available energy focused between amassing cells and energizing them.Except for one piece of undetermined size. Cell says that he has a core in his head. That is true in a sense. It can be anywhere actually .It will always seem like his head to him.

I’ve definitely put more thought into this than is necessary, but hear me out. In the Cell Games we see Cell regenerate twice. First when he has his top half blown off by Goku’s Kamehameha and again after Gohan’s first Kamehameha as a SSJ2. It was after that second regeneration that Cell was noticeably beginning to fatigue. He was using his full strength and needed to use energy to regenerate himself. I think the reason Cell ambushed 18 after the Inferno Blast is because he was in a similar situation. He began his fight below full power, lost his tail, regenerated it and realized he needed to use his full strength. It’s speculation, but 16 says Cell was hurt by his Inferno Blast. This implies Cell may have needed to regenerate from even more significant damage. Presumably 16 could sense Cell’s energy weakening. All this in mind, it makes sense to me that Cell ambushed 18. If he could win the fight in his current state after the Inferno Blast, he presumably would have done that. I think 16 had this fight, but the arrogance of the other Androids screwed up his chances.

So it turns that Dr Gero was an actual genius just as Android 17 said, he was able to create a purely mechanical with an AI that was able to adapt to its circumstances, so that would make Andriod 16 his magnum opus and most impressive technical feat. And a noble prize worthy discovery. Capsule Corporation wouldn't be able to compete with that. The only reason why he kept the twins alive is because neither 16 or Cell (who were his real creations made for his revenge against Goku) was ready. Toriyama might be a discovery writer but I think he knew what he was doing at the time, and only changed the villians when the editor said they didn't look appealing or didn't look threatening enough to refine it, but I think he had it all laid out in some manuscript.

Better yet, if they had all joined together, they could easily beat Cell. I mean, they spend the entire time together as a trio anyway. If Cell tried to absorb either one of 17 or 18, the other two could simply interrupt him or remove his tail over and over again until Cell exhausts himself through over-regeneration. But of course, we all know how fights on the screen work; one combatant at a time. Everyone else is only allowed to watch helplessly, no matter how easily they could intervene!

Idc what the game says, Cell is by all accounts the official Android 21. Gero was 20 & Cell was the next Android project he created. Plus Cell straight up says he’s an Android so the fact that the game created an “Android 21” has always irked me. Idk if 21 was a Toriyama creation or not (honestly I wouldn’t be surprised bc the guy has a history of forgetting his own shit lol) but if she is ever made cannon (not counting Vomi, Gero’s wife who is technically 21 but she was never converted into an android as far as we know unless she was one of the earlier models pre-16) they should rename her 22 & just confirm that Cell is 21. It’s just weird that someone would make such an oversight on that. Anyways awesome video man! 16 would definitely win that fight if it kept going.

I have a theory on something. So even if krillin had deactivated the androids who cell be able to still gain power from them. I know they assumed deactivating them would have helped save some things but it was never implied that it would stop cell and I'm sure that Dr.Gero thought of having them deactivated for when cell goes to absorbed them. You should talk about what makes the androids so powerful, because I always found it interesting how Dr.Gero and Dr.Hedo were capable of making machines that could surpass Super Saiyans, and currently Super Saiyan blue. (Although its possible that Super is just terrible writing.) I've been starting to think it has to do with their power/fuel system. Androids 17 and 18 have infinite energy, while the Gammas have a battery that eventually runs out. But their power output is much higher than 17 and 18, they can also fight at full power until their battery runs out.

The only way I can see Cell winning (or at least surviving) this fight, is if he solar flared 16 like he did to piccolo and the others to escape. He actually does do this later when he absorbs 18, so although I don't think he'd be able to destroy 16 (unless he maybe struck a vital component in his body like you stated), I think he could escape from him. And in this hypothetical situation, he'd most likely hunt down 17 the same way he hunted down 18 when he was Semi-Perfect and go island to island until he found them. Assuming he could find them before vegeta and trunks could show up, he would also gain his perfect form a bit faster, making him outclass and possibly kill vegeta and trunks in this version of events. Alternatively, if vegeta and trunks showed up before he could find the androids, he would just be toast and get killed by trunks or vegeta (assuming of course 16 doesn't catch up to him and kill him himself before any of that happens).

What does "infinite energy" mean, regarding the Androids? Without context, I would think that would mean they could simply power up infinitely, move infinitely fast, never suffer fatigue, and be impossible to defeat. Of course, we know none of that is true, since Future Trunks is certainly finite in power and is able to permanently kill them, begging the question. I can think of 3 explanations. 1) Dr. Gero was exaggerating his own accomplishment in creating infinite energy and simply generated a lot more energy than anything we saw in the Frieza Saga. 2) Since Dr. Gero said they could live forever, perhaps it simply means they won't die of old age, but could certainly still be destroyed. 3) Energy doesn't necessarily equate to power or chi, so even if they really have infinite energy, there's only so much they could do with it.

16 is basically the T-800 complete with lines like, "come with me if you want to live" As far as this fight goes 16 could win through attrition by out lasting Cell though I'm not sure. Because Cell has a ton of tricks up his sleeve not only having the abilities but even the fighting styles of the warriors he has within him. I bring this up because 16 might not be able to do traditional energy attacks and the Inferno Blitz might be his best attack which Cell was able to with stand then find a possible counter of say a solar flare with a charge Kamehama, Glack Gun, Special Beam Cannon, or even use the Destructo Disk.

Fun fact: It's not really unique that vegeta gets his left arm hurt. Almost everyone who receives a grievous injury in dragon ball but continues fighting anyways takes the injury to their left arm. Vegeta just has a habit of biting off more than he can chew and getting such injuries.

Well i think on every possible outcome 16 would have the upperhand. What did not get mentioned in this video is that 16 at this point in time had a nuke in his body possibly strong enough to beat enemies like goku. So even when Cell would have gotten the upperhand and would have won the battle. I think 16 would have killed Cell with the nuke as a last dying resort.

As a fanboy of Imperfect Cell I have to go with him all the way. Imperfect Cell escaped from Hell's Flash easily so he has the craftiness to him and the rocket punch caught him off guard. Cell never got to use the full extent of his abilities in the fight and took advantage of the situation to get 17.

You seem to forget that Cell has access to multiple of the Z fighters moves. And he's done something that only Tien has ever done. Use the solar flare and then attack. Or he could use the solar flare to start charging up a special beam cannon. Now, granted, Cell has never shown the same level of skill with his stolen techniques as the original users, but certain attacks could still be devastating if 16 isn't expecting it.

I won hundred percent agree I think that android 16 with when he may have a hard time, but eventually he would win in a fight

Like many of these fights its hard to say. Even 16 admits his attack wasn't strong enough to kill Cell and when Cell absorbed 17 he didn't look in all that bad of shape. I think Cell ambushed 17 not necessarily because he was afraid of 16 but because he was just that hyper focused on absorbing 17. 16 kept getting in his way and an ambush was Cell's best course of action. All things considered i think they were more or less on equal footing. 16 caught Cell off guard with the rocket fist and that's the primary reason he was able to gain the upper hand. 16 could pull off the win for sure but likely not without sacrificing himself or knowing Cell's one real weakness which he doesn't. Even sacrificing himself its no guarantee that Cell wouldn't just regenerate from the damage and possibly get even stronger.

This is somewhat similar as Super Piccolo vs Android 17. But if Cell and 16 picked up where the anime cut the fight off it seems very unlikely Cell would win because he lost a good amount of power already and that translates into him becoming weaker, where as 16 doesnt become weaker when the fight gets drawn out like that. So at that point 16 would just wear Cell down untill he cant deal any damage anymore and then obliterate him. If they both start fresh however i have to give a slight edge to Cell mainly because at full power he did seem to have a small advantage over 16. Just like Piccolo when he was fresh against 17 pretty much. Even though Androids dont lose power over time, they do take damage. And if Cell takes the fight serious from the start i see him win before he runs out of gas. I do agree with Laughingstock that if 16 would grab hold of Cell his selfdestruct would annihilate Cell and it would be a draw. And even if Cell evades that and beat 16 he would be completely drained after the fight. Goku could literally teleport over at that point, turn super saiyan and blast him with a kamehameha and the Arc would be over.

I think due to regeneration and a nucleus that can survive after cell blew himself up and the fact that Cell said in Dragon Ball Kai "a mere bomb wouldn't won't destroy me" Cell would probably have the edge over 16. Oh and today is my 32nd Birthday

I wonder if 16 DOES have the infinite energy drive but it only provides infinite energy up to a maximum of what would be equal to 17 and then uses a different power source for the energy beyond that capacity. Or maybe he has 2-3 . We don't really know how they function but we do know the modifications Gero made to 17/18 are biological in nature so maybe 16 doesn't/can't have it.

I would give to Android 16 initially, gaining more and more of an advantage until he'd blast Cell away... But because he's not aware of how potent Cell's regeneration truly is, it's very likely Cell will get a zenkai after regenerating, allowing him to overpower and destroy 16

Cell may have gotten a zenkai after recovering fully, but his power level drops precipitously when he does it. Gohan would have mopped the floor with him after goku shot him in half if Goku didn't give him a senzu

16 would be Cell’s toughest battle and he would have to use everything he has to win. 16’s main advantages are his infinite energy and the bomb as a last resort

I think 16 would of won this fight if 17 and 18 booked it and let him do his thing. I miss 16 it would be interesting if an arc started with 17 just wishing him back out the blue or something, and i like to think of the androids like this 16 was the original Android that gero wanted to make but him being so passive he considered a defect especially since he was his most powerful model at the time, so he sacrificed power and control and went to cybernetics to build 17 and 18 so they would still want to fight unlike 16, but when he couldn't control then at all he went to the energy absorbing models with 19 and himself thinking that he can totally control 19 and if he absorbs enough energy he could potentially become the most powerful fighter ever, but then it went how we know it does with super Saiyan not being something he knew about so they could never get the energy in the first place because they were not powerful enough from the get go. Maybe cybernetics leads to more violent models but they cannot be controlled in any fashion so he ditched it for sometime else

I think we can look at the Piccolo/17 fight as an example for additional evidence. It's another example of the power rivals going at it and how it seemed at the end like at least 17 was confident his infinite stamina would hold out. Then again 17 thinks he can beat anyone and is a huge idiot in Z to take it with a grain of salt.

I went with 16. But there’s an argument for cell. Can 16 fight with an 1 arm? How much machine is there? What I mean by this is Cell has the capacity of being creative. There is a difference of fighting AI on smash brothers and an actual person. I didn’t even see anything that says 16 is equal. Just an “IF” statement. What if 16s calculations are wrong? A lot to think about. I’m still giving it to 16 60/100 fights.

In like a “What if” scenario I think imperfect cell would’ve tired out eventually and eventually vegeta and trunks show up. However if cell gets tired and tien shows, 16, 17, 18 and tien in a combined attack could finish off cell before vegeta and trunks arrived But in a no interference scenario, probably a draw, I don’t think 16 could finish off cell and I don’t think cell can do much to 16.
