i'm a bit confused on the step 5-6. so i wire the red wire from the yellow cord with the red wire on the camera. and in step 6 it says to run a cable to the positive on the reverse light. so will i need to get a brand new wire to do that? since the two red is already splice together.

That's what I'm hung up on. Pretty sure I'll be splicing both red wires together at the green wire. One red powers the camera, the other triggers the radio to flip over to the backup screen, if I'm understanding correctly.

Wait, so that means the reversing light is the trigger for head unit to switch & display camera image?

Yeah, it's not based on movement, although that must exist in some setups, it's linked to the backup light because that's linked to the reverse on the trans. So it's not about the light, it's about the camera coming on when the car is is about to move backwards.

step 6 ? when splicing red video cable to red power cable how do you run it to a reverse light? you have to splice into that reverse light? what if your unit already engages video when in reverse but has no video feed like my unit does? does that make sense seems on my unit the camera only needs power/video for the cam? thanks for the video and sharing.

My camera doesn’t automatically switch if I put it the car into reverse. I have to manually hit the camera button on my unit for it to show up. Did I wire this wrong?

So I had same problem. I went into settings and changed a couple of the reverse settings and it stayed working after I found the right setting

You can use a 12v filter /rectifier if it's a German car.

Hey there! This is a great video, but I am stuck on step 6, where it says to run a cable to the + on my reverse tail light. How exactly can I do that? The car in question is a Suzuki Swift from 2010. Should I pull out the cable from the tail light and splice it as an extension to the red vires which are spliced?

Hi, I have an android stereo panel with auto android and carplay. The adjustments and options for the reverse camera are awful. Is it possible to use another app with my existing camera or are they limited to options in their chips ? Some videos I've seen show cameras with dynamic guidelines that help steer into a parking bay for example and show correct axle widths and danger zones. Thanks!

Put a multimedia reverse camera with touch screen in and when I put it in reverse it shows perfectly but once I let go of break it turns black. Then I hit breaks again and I can see everything behind me. Not sure why

What about plug n play situations. 2017 Lancer ES, my car has oem reverse cams and the new Android Unit has all wire adapters to make it Plug N Play. The pink wire which says BACK is not connected to the pin connector which is where the power and other wires are connected, should I just splice that and connect it to the pin connector to make it work aka give it power input?

If I'm correct, the wire going to the reverse bulb triggers the reverse camera to activate and show on the screen. Hence the need to wire it into the reverse light bulb wires.

This is Dustin in knoxville, tn with the single din 10". This is awesome to watch you guys start to grow more and more like this. "Splicing the wires" had me laughing. Im just waiting for the dumb person to hook it up like that and complain that it doesnt work 🤣🤣. Anyways, i have a manual transmission and the reverse lights never worked as the previous owner ruined most connections on the harnesses. That being said, i wired up 2 led flood lights to a toggle switch fed power from a 12v source with a 15amp fuse in line. Can i just wire the 2 small red wires that are supposed to go to the reverse light into the power on the flood lights? Seems like all the red wire needs is a power source for the camera?

I have done this and got image on the unit. The leds on the camera wont turn on. I guess they are broken or do they turn on at night only? If i get image I should have connected everything the right way right? Many questions but I could have missed something about the leds.
