How to update your TV box to Android 7.1!
Today Scott teaches you guys how to update your Beelink GT1 Ultimate Android TV Box and get the latest Android Nougat 7.1.2 update running using the Amlogic USB Burning tool!
Hopefully you will learn some new skills and techniques and also you will be able to apply this method of flashing firmware to updating other boxes AND for recovering any boxes that become bricked!

Got the upgrade done but for some reason some apps are not showing full screen. I have checked all my settings but still no change. Even the screen that comes up sleep reboot or shutdown isn't full screen. Can anyone help?

Any advantage to having this update? One poster says the nav and notification bars don't work after update but with the Beelink remote I don't use the bars much?? Has the problem with disconnecting wifi and device not automatically reconnecting to same wifi point been fixed in this update?

Other than the latest version of android, probably not a huge amount - Not familiar with any issues, usually beelink are pretty quick when it comes to sending OTA firmware fix's - Might be worth you signing upto beelinks forums or freaktabs beelink section and contacting them directly regarding those issues.

z3ro7o it may have improved, there are probably other ROMs available at this point. I can personally recommend Superceleron's Android TV 7.1 firmware

MXQ PROJECT the only reason i wanna do this upgrade. Is that my ota update dont work for over a year now. If i press online update. Its says ( your system was damaged , wireless update us disabled , ) beelink told me to fix it. Install the latest update. That comes wiith andriod 7

Daniel Brown not sure about the assisted zoom but for touches you should be able to press the mouse button on your remote and use the arrows to navigate the noise pointer, then the middle button acts like a touch/mouse click

Don´t work the down menu (black menu in the bar with capture button, shutdown, triangle, circle, square and volume + and -) Neither the superior menu where I can see the downloads or notifications. Is there a way to have it?

Can the update be done without using the burning tool? Would it work if the file is saved to a flash drive and then transferred to the box directly following a similar process of resetting the box and then using file explorer to find and then install the firmware?

You can download the SD card file, copy it to a USB drive and try using the update&backup app on the box but I've not tested this update using that method yet so don't know if it will work. Scott

I have a beelink gt1 ultimate that i bought through gear best back towards the end of 2016. It's running android 6.01 but it is still brand new in the box as i've never used it except that i literally just plpĺed it in but hr ct%%%. My question is would it be worth it for me to flash it to nougat right away or should i just run it on android 6 01? I literally just plugged it in for the very first time yesterday and all i did was go through the set up in the beginning. That's all i've done, thus far. I haven't installed any apps yet or even signed into any of my Google accts. Do you think it would be worth it for me to update from android v6.01 to android v7.1.2 or would it be best to leave it alone as it's still brand new? nah stick with marshmallow, you will gain nothing from upgrading to Nougat.

1) a male to male usb cable is extremely hard to find. I've only ever seen them running like $40-$50 for that matter. 2) What if you don't have windows? What is this burning tool doing anyways, ADB flash? 3) I tried the SDcard update, just gave an error at boot. What to do!?!?

male to male usb cable's are like 1-2 dollers on ebay - amlogic usb burning tool

Joshua Robison also I did say that I couldn't get the previous sd card file to work so didn't know if this one would either. The USB burning tool is a program made by Amlogic for windows, If you are using Linux and not windows then I would suggest using WINE to install the burning tool.

Hi Scott, I was told the top bar navigation bar are missing on this new ROM. Can you clarify if this is true? I use mine for a 3d printer server and cannot do with down time.

You won't get android TV from Beelinks but I believe atvxperience works just fine on this, done a few videos just recently on this

Does it still boot to android - Your best directing your issue to Beelink themselves on their forum, it might be a known issue and they will no doubt fix the OTA update - Otherwise this method will recover your box, if it doesn't want to boot.

Iv dealt with Beelink for a number years, they will fix the issue in time, their certainly not a perfect business but they will fix it if its a known issue - Otherwise upgrade to nougat using this guide or leave it a lone until a solution is released

Nick Pont hi Scott here. The OTA versions have never worked for me so always had to use the USB tool. There is a superceleron custom rom on freaktab that does work though.

c savoia the update will remove them so I'd say back them up using a backup tool from the play store first otherwise you will need to redownload them

MXQ PROJECT I've been messing with Android for a while. I think it's hard bricked due to the fact it doesn't even come on anymore just a solid LED light in the front and the optical out port no longer glows red. I tried to press and hold the update button but it does nothing now.
