How to RESET your Android box and UPDATE FIRMWARE using ANDROID RECOVERY MODE

That's on idiots level, who don't know anything about electronics. Real problem are manufacturers who are producing clones TV boxes, not compatible with any official firmware. My advice, don't buy cheap android TV boxes.

There is no such thing as Official Firmware. Firmware is an abstraction layer that connects the OS to the physical hardware, every box is totally unique. AndroidTV boxes are different from Android TV boxes. AndroidTV, like Nvidia, is a market place and they keep you updated... it is a good bet.

Great video sir! I just wanted to say It's far easier to utilize adb and fastboot commands via terminal in Linux or even cmd in windows to install updates. Adb sideload is drag and drop and most Android oems offer the updates that can be flashed through two commands

I find that given the same board model e.g., k200 or n200 all android box brand's firmware can be install interchangably but doesn't it require some patch?

Each model has different resources: sound chips, processors, amount of memory, etc. All of these are defined in Firmware and proper communications from the OS to these resources are dependent on proper Firmware. That said, maybe the difference is only a Wi-Fi Bluetooth chip that you are not even using and may never notice that it isn't working.

Not unless the manufacturer provided it. See when you get a FireStick or Nvidia Shield they keep it up to date because it is a market place. Box manufacturers don't care. If you bought it as Android 4.1, it will stay there. I really like the Roku Sticks with the microphone search. You can ask it for anything and it will tell you all the places you can stream it and if it cost money, all the prices from all the sources! AndroidTV boxes have come way down in price. The good ones they are now calling GoogleTV (instead of Android). The bonus is that GoogleTV boxes stay up to date with the latest OS. No more upgrades. Also there are Amazon Sticks and Roku sticks that are based on Android but also get regular OS updates. Recommend one of these instead amzn.to/4ao8WqW (entry level 1080P) and amzn.to/3UaQFaX (4K)

Have you tried holding the "not a reset button" while you apply power? And keep holding it. If no lights, no signs of life, it could just be dead.

Been a long time since I seen you on hope all is well so someone upgraded my Android box from Android 6 to Android 11 but then when I go into the system and settings and look at what Android version it says Android 6 now I think it is rooted and flashed as he said because when I click on when I checked the Android flash with a program it said your device has been rooted so I believe he did it right I just want to change it from 6:00 to 11:00 just in case I end up sending or selling it I'd like people to know that it does have Android 11 on there. I really don't think this guy managed to put Android 11 onto old hardware. I think he managed to take your money. Firmware is very specialized software that ties the hardware to the operating system. It either comes from the manufacturer or someone's just guessing. Imagine putting a 454 into a Porsche. All that work that it would require for the gauges to work and for the transmission to a line that's all firmware. You can fake software on top but it's not going to work.

What probs with power supply. Ive tested over 20 and center pin is always + and shieth is the ground. Never ever have i had a power supply fail. Always 12v or close to it. So i think thats a load of poop

Updating the Firmware is only possible when the manufacturer releases new Firmware... I do not see the MXQ going from Lollipop 5.1 all the way to a modern version. It's time to cut bait and get a newer box.

PLEASE translate from portuguese TKS. Como fazer reset em um projetor que usa Android (Xgody x1). Não tem botão de reset na placa e não tem nenhuma informação na tela (as some BLUE screen). O projetor não está abrindo seu display para projetar, a luz de led ligada, fan funcionando. Isto aconteceu após atualização enviada pelo fabricante. Todo o procedimento foi seguido mas algo deu errado e não tenho mais vídeo. O Android parece funcionar pois consigo navegar as cegas e até ativar KZbin com áudio, mas sem imagem. O fabricante não ofereceu solução mas sim um modesto desconto para comprar uma nova unidade o que eu acho absurdo pois, foram eles que danificaram meu projetor. Então caro especialista, se você puder me ajudar me informando como fazer este reset e voltar às configurações de fabrica eu serei muito grato. O projetor é Android 11 XGODY X1, projetor de baixo custo porém funcionava bem por seu custo benefício. A atualização foi feita para resolver problema de conexão com bluetooth e usando firmware enviado pelo fabricante. Novamente, te agradeço por qualquer ajuda. GOD BLESS YOU.

There is always a reset button. Perhaps it is only available in the power on state but try thins: 1. HOLD the power button and see if it reboots. 2. Try holding the power button while applying power (its a different state). If it reboots, at least it means the machine is alive. Did you try looking inside the Audio Ports, reach a toothpick though the hole and see if you feel a button. Há sempre um botão de reset. Tente segurar o botão liga/desliga enquanto aplica energia (é um estado diferente). Se ele reinicializar, pelo menos significa que a máquina está viva. Me ofereceram desconto para uma outra unidade mas porque terei que pagar para ter uma nova unidade se o defeito foi provocado por eles. Parece que a luz de fundo do projetor está quebrada. A parte Android do seu projetor está funcionando, mas não ilumina. Nenhuma quantidade de redefinição vai consertar isso. Existe uma lâmpada? Muitos desses projetores menores fizeram um péssimo trabalho na dissipação do calor e isso é um assassino para os componentes. Desculpe ser o portador de más notícias, mas parece ruim. It sounds like the backlight on the projector is broken. The Android piece of your projector is working, just not illunating. No amount of resetting is going to fix that. Is there a bulb? Many of these smaller projectors did a poor job of disapating heat and that is a killer for components. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds bad.

Lots of these android boxes use a version of KZbin that uses an API Key to access content. There are millions of boxes and everyone is using the same keys so after a few hours it turns off. i have to disagree with some of the things you say, i got a lot of different boxes with the same hardware , (Amolgic CPU, wifi chipset, ddr memory) and some of them come out from factory with different android version so what you claim about not being able to upgrade android version not true, you can upgrade and even install other tipe of android tv or tablet or even linux it all depends on what roms are developed for the device keep in mind that the rom is device specific so if an upgrade is available by all means do it it will not harm the device in any way and you get a refresh. peace...

Firmware is the devices specific software that defines you interface to audio chips, graphics chips, bluetooth and Wif solutions. I have never seen a perfect match other than the firmware that was released for it. Even FW for the H96 with 2GB vs 3GB would not work from one box to the other. Trying the wrong firmware can be a one way road.... but if there is nothing to lose, go for it.

In all honesty... don't waste your time. Android 7 was last updated in 2015. Since October 2021 we have been on Android 12. I connected the wrong power brick and now the box is bricked. I tried tooth pick thru the AV input to reset the unit but it didn't work. I want short the nand but I can't find the model box I have.

Yes, if you plug in a brick with more Voltage or reversed Polarity, it will brick the device and no amount a toothpicks will bring it back. Smell it and see if it smells a bit like Ozone... (kind of a sweet electrical smell). It you "let the smoke out" it is not going to work again.

Sorry, there's no universal firmware because there is no universal hardware. Best is to get a new box that will last a bit long because it gets updated. The only way to do that is with an AndroidTV box, which is different that a box running Android for your TV. My favorite is the Nvidia Shield amzn.to/3sGzLR6 I have had one of mine for going on 7 years. Still updated because it is a market place (they have a reason to keep you updated which Android boxes never had).

I did a quick search and found that there is new firmware.
