in that write up it didn't say anything about combining the firmware with the mac_ether.ini file together in the same license folder. It only said to place the ini file included into the license folder if you had issues flashing the box.

If after you Flash ,and wifi does not work,even though you have right firmware,go into system settings on box and do a factory reset from settings,and wifi should now work ,,also check time and date in settings,if still not working ,wrong firmware,you are getting closer keep trying and you will find the right firmware,and you got it

If after you flash ,maybe wifi or ethernet does not work you will need to correct the time and date in settings,if still does not work try a different firmware ,the correct one will work perfectly as long as the specs meet everything will work,like you cant use a firmware for a box that has 10 gb memory if you have a 5 gb,,

The reason I ask is that I have plugged it into 3 different USB ports on my laptop without pressing the reset and without the supply lead in the android box and not heard the recognition tune. Some of the firmware only have the .zip and not .img - especially for the M8S/M8S+ firmwares.

I gotcha ,here is the solution if all you can find is a zip file here is what to do,the zip file that you have is a firmware prepared for a different method,you can keep looking for an img version of your firmware if there is one ,may not be one available yet,or you can use what you have ,using alternate method,ile help with both if I can, now for the file that you have ,you should be able to un zip file and inside should be a file named u boot bin ,among others,first you want this program bootcardmaker ,that is the program that is needed for the file you have now,here www.mediafire.com/file/mf3s43g5tg2vn9n/Amlogic_SDcardMaker_BootcardMaker_burnBootCard_v1.0.1.rar you need a micro sd card,put card into pc run application,first choose disk a,b,c,d, whichever one is your memory card, check partition and format choose your bin file click open and find the folder that you un zipped click u boot bin,now click make,click ok and on next click start ok ,ok ,close,ok,,now close program,go to memory card open now take all the files inside un zipped folder and drag and drop into memory card,,,when done ,remove memory card safely ,now put card into android box,with a small pin or toothpick inside the av port you will find a reset button,you want to have box all connected and off now press and hold reset button while pressing power button hold at least ten seconds you should see on the screen android on its side ,and you should now be in recovery mode,,,hope that helps

I opened the box, it have cirkulation but problem is still there. Maybe i need to change paste, it was weird to me that thoes not stick, it should stick in contact with air i think. Box is less than one year old, worked maybe 6 months.

One of the problems I noticed long ago about these android tv box's is that they never shut down,,they stay in a standby mode which is basically on without display,which is why I unplug mine when it is not being used ,,,,should only need a small thin layer on graphics chip and cpu,,,it should stick but it is not glue.

They have a few different format types when it comes to Android images/firmware,different types for different methods,,which box do you have and which version of android came stock,,now you should know that you cannot update your firmware on your box,the most you can do is return your box back to stock.

I have a Xgoody Box kb2 pro running android 6.0 which i am really pleased with , however I would like to know if this box could be flashed with the Yoka kb2 pro 7.1 upgrade.The Xgody is identical in specification, colour ,...position of ports...usb power etc the only difference is the Logo on top of box. Glad you asked,,no do not attempt that,,flashing firmware is for recovery mainly,,,,,when they made your box,the current android version was 6.0 ,,on any newer android version hardware would not match yours,therefore would not contain the drivers for your hardware that is in your box.

The proper way to update an android box,is in the settings menu ,and the way this racket works is,rather than offer an update to the box they sold you,they make a new box with different hardware being used with latest android version,,,the companies that do offer an update sell their box's for a higher price like 2 to 3 times the price of others,because they are actually charging you for the latest version that is to come in the future,but they are charging you for it at the time of purchase, so you have newest android version with old hardware,,,the price point on a box is around 35 40 bucks,,now if you want the latest android version ,but do not want to have a collection of old android box"s best thing to do from my point of view is this,,,,,sell your android box for a fare price asap,,,I say asap,because the longer you have ,the older it becomes,the more outdated it will be.

Now typically these box's do not update ,however if your box Maker has released an update for your box ,you can find that in your settings menu ,,if you flash a firmware on your box that has different hardware than your box you can brick your box,than you would actually need to flash the firmware,in which you would only be able to restore your box back to factory at best,depending on the fact that the firmware for your box is available.I would sell that box and use the money to buy a box with the version of android that you are looking for.need any help feel free to ask

I have a 2 MXQ Pro 4K S95W V2.0 1 takes the flash, and it shows the logo and then the tv says No Signal nothing happens after that and if I take power cable off and put it again it don't show the logo again even the blue light is on and I can turn off and on the box using the remote. the other one has a red light and when flashing it gives the 7% error. I do not know what factory software they had. I being trying for months on and off fallowing different tutorials but no luck yet. Here is the thing about what you are trying to do,flashing firmware is mainly for restoring stock firmware,,if one is to try and update newer firmware they will find that the box becomes unusable,and the reason for that is that the newer firmware is made for newer hardware,which an older android box would not contain,which is why they fail....I will try and help you recover your android box,,1 do you know which version of Android came stock on it? 2 How long have you owned the box? 3 when did it first mess up ?

Does it matter the number on the chip? what I can read on the top is SDTNGAMA 0086. There are other letters and numbers on it.

Glad you asked,see the thing about these box's is that rather than create an updated android O.s for your box or any box,what they do is create a new box which would also contain new hardware,,,now on that android version 4.2 would make it a good retro game box,install some game emulators and a game pad,and you have a decent game box,and sell or keep or give to a family member or friend,put the money on a new box,,,also to hold you over they have android emulators for Pc like nox,www.bignox.com or others like bluestacks ,andyOs ,,if you hooked Pc up to Tv with cable hdmi or vga,,that would be about the same as having the android box ,except for that your Pc would have better hardware than an android box,and the android emulators update for free,,if you need any help or have any questions feel free to ask,,,,,,,,,, and your welcome Sir ,I hope that helps.

Great video I have a BM8 Pro with Android 6.0.1 It has an AMlogic Octacore CPU . I want to update this to the latest version of Android so that the BBC iPlayer and Channel 5 apps etc work on it. The thing about that is this,these android box's are not made to be updated,the newer version of android is also for newer hardware which would not match the hardware inside your box,and would only turn your box into a brick,,I would try the app installer that came on your box,find the app installer app on your box they all come with one in the firmware,it is for installing apps ,most times you would not even need to use it to install an app ,but sometimes you do try that and get back to me on it.

when you say not connected you mean not connected to the t.v. but you have to have it plugged in with power right?

At that point at which I say not connected,no wires or connection cable connected at all,at that point you would start program,load firmware,and start process,then you would connect usb cable while holding reset button in,no power cable or hdmi cable is to be connected throughout this process

Hello Mr Wiz Jr. I bricked my TV box trying to upgrade the SD card method. Glad I found this tutorial. I am stuck however at the point of moving the downloaded file to the License folder. I have downloaded several different zip files from links provided through the chinagadget website, and when I unzip them there are about 5 files. What file is it that I am to move to the license folder? In the video the window is so narrow I can't see the name or file extension of what is being moved? I have tried moving all of them and the burner program gives an error failed to load. I get Parse burning image fail error message Thank you for your help! Suggestions?

Hello again. I have the Ottbox M8S. I have download maybe 10 different files saying they were for this box, but none will load through the usb burning tool program. It sees the device but most images fail at 2% Ive had one image file make it to 4%. I successfully restored a bricked MXQ box, so I know it can work with the right file. i have searched through multiple websites. I have also tried the SD boot method but this box isnt responding to the reset hold in process. I would accept a stock 4.4 kitkat image at this point. problem is wrong firmware ,they may have a few of those box's all with different specs,keep trying you will get it,I went through the same on mine,,and always go with stock ,if box came with kit kat look for that,,,a lot of these box's did not get further support ,some do though,so try to get original,and if they have an updated os you can update within Os if it is available

Hi daniel i got the same box and when i connect it via ethernet cable it works then the connection goes away i unplug the cable ou and back in and it works again ive tried 2 different cables both do the same does the box need to be flashed ??

You can try this 1 check that the date and time are set correctly on your box,,,if that is ok,you can try plugging in cable and then reset your router with the box plugged in and on.

Sure ok ,first with a factory reset your device has to fully function to do a factory reset ,and a factory reset consist of returning your device to when you first got it new which removes any apps you put on it and removes your information from memory of the box,,,,now with flashing firmware ,it will do the same thing as a reset ,but flashing firmware is for recovery only ,,as in when your box won't work and will not let you reset because the device will not work at all,,,,,often others attempt to update their android os version by flashing newer firmware,which results in their device stops working,because the newer android version is made for a newer box and the device drivers do not match what they have in their box,,,So remember this , to flash firmware only use the version of android that came on your box ,,the thing to look for if you are going to flash it,,is first search by the name on the box ,then only choose the one with same android version

In a bit of a pickle with my MXQ 4k . Got it a week ago and heard something rattling around inside. The reset button isn't attached. i think nothing of it as box was working fine. One week later i need to flash the box as it freezes right after restarting into the main menu. But can not flash if i cant access the menu after reset. any ideas?

From what you say it sounds like a setting on the tv,,perhaps on most Tv's you will find a source button which will switch the tv to different inputs going into the tv,what kind of tv do you have?

Try this if you would and let me know how it works,,when you are not using your android box unplug the power wire from it,and when you want to use it again just plug it in and it will come on,,the thing about these android Tv box's is when you turn them off they actually stay on,,they go into standby mode,which is not good for the box,they have a tendency of burning up in time do to this,so try that ,if problem still exist I would do a factory reset ,and then use the app installer app to install apps ,rather than just install apps without the app installer.Let me know how it goes

Trying with an A5X Max. Can't get the PC to recognize the device long enough to do anything. The Amlogic nor the Rockchip tools will do anything as a result of the drivers not being seen or read correctly. Using Windows 10. Have tried on Windows 7 as well.
