Thanks for posting. Doesn't look super difficult but there are a lot of steps and hoses and wires and fuel lines. And things that have to be disconnected that can crack or bend or get lost. I think I'll pay a mechanic to do this. I can handle a valve cover myself. Appreciate your calm, Bob Ross like demeanor. This must be the most relaxing car repair video I've ever watched

I cracked my hose too when I was changing out the valve cover gasket. It's actually seriously taped up right now waiting for the new one to arrive. It split right dead center on the top. I have a 2018 Buick Encore. The only reason I watched this video was because I thought you were replacing that along with everything else too.

Very well made video and you clearly know what you’re doing, thank you for uploading. That said-I don’t know why you skip important steps like fastening the valve cover in the proper sequence or using a torque wrench. Too risky for delicate plastic parts like these, in my opinion. But hey so long as it runs well and you can sleep at night 😅

I have a 14 cruze with 43,000 miles on it, i just had the turbo, wastgate, water pump, thermostat, bunch of lines all replaced and just had the same code come back again, turbo underboost, i just bought a new valve cover, manifold and the hose you broke, going to replace it this weekend when i have a few extra days off. Had the car a year since 32,000 about tired of it already lol.

Check to see if your turbo is covered by the recall. I would submit it for reimbursement
@iamnoesilva4 ай бұрын
@RodHammer888 it was all covered under my warranty. I bought the car last July and somehow got a 3 year 36,000 mile extended warranty with it. I've only had to pay for my deductible $100 out of my pocket. I'm tired of the dealership having my car for a week + is the only reason I'm doing the valve cover and manifold myself or else I'd make them do that too.

Thank you for this video. You forgot to show us how you unpluged the the fuel line from the rail. Do you need a special tool? I am asking because my intake as only 4000 miles on it and i don't want to remove the fuel rail. I want to port the intake for better flow and performance and de-assemble only what is necessary.

How’s it been since you’ve done this? Has the valve cover diaphragm gone bad again? Did the code pop back up? Any leaks with the Dorman Valve Cover? I’ve seen quite a few people complain that it leaks and/or doesn’t seat correctly, but I’ve also seen quite a few say it’s good. I literally just finished installing mine about an hr ago. Also cleaned up the throttle body, MAP and MAF sensors. Figured, while I got them off, why not.

It’s been over a year. Don’t think the valve has gone bad, but the codes are still up. I’m starting to give up on that engine ever running well again.

Hi, sir. At 1:02 does this mean that replacing the valve cover and intake manifold with the Dorman parts should permanently resolve the issue, even without installing a Cruze Kit? The mechanic replaced my OEM with the Dorman cover and intake manifold and I was wondering if I still needed a Cruze Kit to prevent another failure. Thank you for your helpful video
@AJSWoodworks4 ай бұрын
Theoretically, it should prevent another failure, however, I don’t trust this engine at all, and there is bound to be another failure point.

@@AJSWoodworks Oh. Another failure point for the PCV, or just in general? How many miles do you have? I'm only at 51K but now it's rapidly rising due to changes with work ... I'd like to keep the Cruze going long-term, but everyone makes it sound pretty dismal.

Question: if I change the valve cover and I don't change the intake manifold until 4 days later after driving, would that ruin the valve cover? In such a short period of time?
@AJSWoodworks Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure. It could vary between vehicles. It just depends on how badly the pressure has built up while you have been driving.
