This is one aspect I wish was touched on a little more in his breakdown with the Padres, at least as his tenure was coming to an end. He became beloved in SD for how he interacted with the fans and community in a time where we had guys with zero hype, or guys like Hosmer who didn't even try. And by the time we got all of the big names last season, everyone I knew saw him as a guy they wanted to win it all for-someone who tried his heart and soul out, 100% of the time, every time he stepped on the field for us. Knowing he would most likely be gone after last season was hard, and it still hurt more than I expected when the news he signed with the Reds actually was announced. Love him, hope he does well, hope he comes back as unrealistic as it is. EDIT: I also want to say I love Profar too for his last three seasons in SD and hope he finds a spot on our roster this season if signed nowhere else.

The Dee Gordon home run is the most magical baseball moment of all time. Nothing makes me emotional but that did, and im a Red Sox fan.

Didn’t really understand about Tyler Skaggs too much, but I was at his last start ever, crazy to think about

One thing about Ventura was that he was a great player surrounded by good players. I always wonder how we would’ve ended up if we still had him. Even in our 2014/2015 run the Royals didn’t have any top of the line talent, they just had 9 extremely solid players who kept the line moving. No holes in that lineup but no player was a #1 at their position and Ventura had some potential to be a top 10 pitcher with his crazy arm talent. So unfortunate to see him go not only as a player but as a person

Cole will stroll into the HOF. I have no doubt. He still has 6 years of play left just on this contract and this is his age 32 season. Based off what we've seen from the elite power pitchers of his talent level in recent years, I would expect 3-4/6 of these years to still be prime or near prime level. That means 250 Ks annually, at most a 3.30ish ERA (though I expect several sub 3 years if the HR luck can stabilize some and he can get a real SS behind him), and 200+ IP. He already is right around 2000 Ks. He should pretty confidently get to 3000 Ks and playing for the Yankees plus pitching deep into games, he can probably average around 15 wins per year for next 3-4 years and then 8-10, putting him in a reasonable spot to get 200 career wins. Those type of stats make his HOF chances a pretty strong lock.

Tyler Skaggs actually overdosed in a building about 2 minutes from where I live. I remember that day being so surreal

Jose Fernandez' death upsets me so much. Even in the recounting I was crying---I'm a Cubs fan and I liked Fernandez.

It’s so hard to believe that KC was just in back to back World Series, Winning the 2nd 1 of the 2 appearances. I’m stoked for KC and really Glad they got 1 and didn’t just make the appearances . Appearances are great and actually deserve more respect than they get Which I think they actually are more appreciated now days But Winning 1 is HUGE❕ Especially for a KC Royals Team REDS need to get there’s . 1990 is a long time ago now .

The messed up thing about Fernandez’ death from a baseball perspective is that the Marlins probably could’ve become really good if he were still around. An outfield of Yelich, Stanton, and Ozuna with a battery of Fernandez and Realmuto is a crazy core.

The part that bothers me is the one with Tyler Skaggs, addicts are not treated that way ever, especially if they overdose and die, I wish more people treated addicts like humans but they just don’t, and because he was a successful baseball player it seemed like more people cared, I just want that same kind of love and compassion for the people struggling at home that have no help, or have no one behind them to push them thru, or the resources that a mlb player would get..

It’s really sickening to read some of the comments saying that Skaggs did it to himself or his choices had consequences. Drug addicts should have systemic support and humane treatment, they shouldn’t be treated as moral failures. I think a lot of people are finally getting that now, but there’s still a long way to go.

@@AndThatsBaseball I agree 100% with you, it is sickening to see how many people feel that way towards addicts, but I will say it was nice to see the support the angels showed after the tragedy.. didn’t expect to get a like much less a response but I’m happy to read what you posted forsure..

Wheelers Mets saga drove me nuts. If only he had a season in 2015 like he had in 2014, the Mets might've won the World Series And if only Cohen owned the Mets when he left for free agency. Cant imagine he would've let him walk especially to a division rivals. Sucks to see him be successful with the Phillies.
