I grew up poor in a abusive home and my whole family thought I was going to be in prison, a menace. I’m 35 have a 6figure income, I’m a home owner I have 3 children that I’m raising in a healthy happy home with my first wife of 11 years. To me this is success.

When I was in the fourth grade in front of my entire class my teacher told me I wasn’t smart enough in math or science to be a pilot when I grew up. I’m now 37 years old and have been an airline pilot since I was 23. I’ve forgotten 90% of what I’ve ever learned but I will never ever forget that day or that teacher.

I will never give up. Survivor of a sudden cardiac arrest in oct 2020, dead 42 mins , coma on life support for 8 days, broken sternum and 12 broken ribs from cpr, 85% muscle wastage from coma. A collapsed stent gave me a major heart attack in March 2022. Now in financial ruin, trying to repossess my family home. I'm still fighting . Book being released in 2 weeks of my story and recovery. It's real and totally raw. And I am keeping my home. I will fight in court until I make enough to pay down my mortgage.. My message to everyone is this.. Never stop fighting , never give up, you will find a way. Trying to rebuild my body, it's very slow and painful but I'm fkn doing it. I am the example to my children. And I will do that until I die (again lol) . That ain't gonna be for a long time . Stay strong all .

I’m 5th grade, Mrs. Johnson had all of her students write down on a sheet of paper what we wanted to be when we grow up. All the kids wrote down that they wanted to be secretaries, teachers, fire fighters, etc. She read each one out loud in front of the class. Cheered them on! When she read mine. I wrote down that I wanted to be a model. This was in the early 90s. My teacher also laughed and said sorry girls, girls from North Dakota can’t model. 😡 Guess what? I’ve gone on to model some, appear on tv shows. Beyond that, I’ve achieved body positivity after struggling with anorexia, bulimia and excessive exercise. 75 Hard is a game changer. I am strong. Mentally and physically. Today I was asked if I was training for a body building show! I’m not. I am strong. I’m eating right. Working out. Consistently. Thank you Andy!!!

Go and thank that teacher. Tell her that her comment provided you with eternal fuel to achieve your dreams. If you said you can do it.... You never would have had the drive. Okay maybe...but you wouldn't have the same fuel if she had said you could do it! The negativity was a gift. I hope you can see it! 👍

The world needs more men like Andy who aren't afraid to be outliers and tell it how it is. My favorite quote is, "I'd rather die on my feet than live life on my knees". Die knowing you did your absolute best and achieved at least some of your goals rather than trudging along as another person with a meaningless life.

I was in high school when I decided I wanted to enlist into the military. My mother told me I didn't have what it takes to become a Marine. At 21, I graduated boot camp with a fractured hip and other injuries. I didn't let anything stop me. It's always been me against me. I have a family now, and I can only imagine what my life would be if I just decided to do nothing with my life.

THIS IS THE WAY! People need to challenge themselves to bring out the best... To develop the callus and prove they can do hard things. What One man can do another man can do. Educators and administrators keep lowering the bar for kids thinking they are helping but they are just creating the idea and kids that the system is against them and that they are too weak and powerless to do anything. Raise the standards! Clearly lowering the bar is producing failure... What percent of high school kids in Baltimore have achieved a passing level in mathematics? It's almost zero.... How's that working for you?!

I remember back in high school my friends at the time would laugh at me when I told them I wanted to join the military and be a medic. They used to say things like "You can't get in, you're a skinny brown kid, you won't survive it!" fast forward to when we were all getting jobs, they all settled for other jobs than what they wanted to achieve and I got into the medical corps to train as an airborne support medic. 10 years later I left the service with distinctions and am now pursuing my entrepreneurial goals to become a self improvement coach to help young men realise their potential and achieve their dreams. I still remember that conversation my friends and I had and how it made me feel and I never want anyone to feel that way at all in their lives.

I was told by a former mentor that I would never be a coach in my respective line of work. I've been coaching for 7years now and accomplished some things I never thought I would. I know, I fucking know, I could out perform that mentor now in our respective realm of performance. I'd give anything to compete against him today.

Andy's guidance counsellor laughing at the thought of him going to Notre Dame to play football.... It was a GIFT! That doubt and disrespect has given Andy fuel to this day.... He says it still makes him angry thinking about it. And this this scenario is a great illustration of how there is always good in the bad and there is always bad and the good.... It all depends upon your mindset. How would Andy's life have turned out differently? If his guidance counselor said you can do it, you could be the next Rudy? And frankly, perhaps his guidance counselor was not wrong.... Because as Andy just said all that matters is WHAT IS! If Andy had demonstrated little to that point, maybe it was a fair assessment. Regardless, I know several people who took an incident like this and turned it into a fire that never extinguishes. Use the words of doubt and make them your fuel!

I totally disagree with what Andy said regarding teachers telling minority kids. They can't do anything. He couldn't be more wrong. The only way I see that happening is because they are lowering standards and grades and expectations.... It's the purse of low expectations that is telling these kids. They can't do anything. The other way I could see that happening is if teachers say the system is against you. It's so racist. You have no way of rising to the top. Personally, I think that is setting kids up for failure they need higher expectations. They should be listening to Thomas Sol instead of Kendi or BLM. I highly doubt there are teachers outright saying to students because you're black, you can't accomplish anything. I'd be happy for people to tell me I'm wrong
