Today we are beyond excited to have Andy Frisella on The Dad Edge! This interview is the favorite above all other episodes.
If you don’t already know, Andy Frisella hosted the #1 business and success podcast in the world, The MFCEO project, and is the creator of 1st Phorm supplements. Andy is also the host of the Real AF Podcast and the founder of the #75Hard mental and physical fitness challenge.
With a big voice, big personality, and big heart, Andy Frisella, gets real AF about his struggles. He reveals that he naturally is a weak and lazy person, and that only by learning the skill of self-discipline has he developed his unstoppable work ethic and hustle.
He talks about why health must be our priority and how the #75Hard challenge develops the self-discipline we need to accomplish everything we want to do in life.
He also tells us how to practice extreme time management, how to develop true self-confidence, and what legacy really means.
Andy shares stuff in this show that you haven’t heard on any other podcast. Get ready to get real AF about life!
“If you can master the art of feeling stressed but still getting your shit done, you start to become real dangerous.”-Andy Frisella

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
As men, the first thing we shelve is our health. We think we have to throw ourselves on the sword for our families.
Everything in life is built from health and discipline.
Controlling your hunger for food is a good tool to build discipline.
If you can’t control what you put in your mouth, you’re not likely to control anything else.
Success is not an excuse to let yourself go.
Take negativity and harness it for productive action.
Boundaries-don’t feel guilty taking care of yourself.
You don’t have to spend energy on people who are not operating on the same level as you.
You can learn from bad parenting in your past.
Why Andy’s pissed off at men right now
Why men today have to recalibrate the way we look at love
What masculine energy means to Andy
There is no way to please everyone on social media (and in life). The more you try, the more you lose respect from the people who appreciate you as you are.
75Hard helps you more than just by making you look better. It makes you mentally powerful.
Why 75 Hard enhances your sex life (and it’s not just because you’re in shape).
How to become addicted to strength instead of a good time
How self-discipline develops true confidence
How a challenge like 75 Hard helps you develop extreme time management
Andy’s 4-phase year-long program
Your feelings are irrelevant to your results. If you can push through in spite of how you feel, you will be unstoppable.
All the problems we see in the world are individual problems. We work on ourselves to help the world.
The truth of why Andy is not having kids
What legacy really means

I don’t know anything about 75 Hard... I ended up here from an Andy interviews binge but I wholeheartedly respect men with this mentality and this channel is currently underrated. Keep it going, my son and boys of the world need strong male figures. And women need self-disciplined men. 💪

I love the ideals in this program, you talk about kids and coaching them, we need a program like this for kids at high school level so they can begin to understand what it is to accomplished what it is to be tough what it is to be self-confident . Let's face it they have no real life experience other than what they've seen at home I think this could be very beneficial. Father of 3 adult children.

I feel for his mindset of letting people down. I graduated high school 112lbs at 5’11”. Couldn’t lift a bag of rice. Being that small I feel like I couldn’t protect my future family or generate the respect I need to provide looking like I’m a sickly child as an adult Been 7 years hard training. I’m now climbing through 150 lbs keeping low bfp getting ready for the gym right now. The people around you need you at your best. YOU need you at your best. No one wants to do business with someone who looks like a sick child. The person you’re attracted to won’t be attracted back and it’s disrespectful to your partner to be unattractive and unhealthy. The #1 thing that motivates me is what happens when I have to defend my family in an emergency. #2 is that people respect people in shape- you create or close opportunities based on how you present yourself, and no one likes small men. Have a mission you can do it. I’ve been mostly consistent for years and it’s paid. People notice and treat me better. Girls notice. Life is good. DO IT

Great video, I coach a lot of sports because dad's don't volunteer, I love coaching and teaching kids. I get a lot of parents with a lot of input on a bunch of things to say all the time. I always tell them then they should've stepped up and coached. Everyone these days have a lot of opinions but don't want to step up and help.

Great podcast. Very enlightening stories about the importance of having challenges (like 75hard) and how men have to have battles in their lives to reach higher levels. Very authentic conversations of being masculine as well. I've listened to well over 100 episodes and this is one of my favorite episodes of the Good Dad Project.

I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy and Complex Sleep Apnea in early 2017. Narcolepsy is so hard to deal with even with the best medicine, but I still make it to the gym, and/or do something hard everyday. Basically Narcolepsy makes you feel like you have been up 48-72 hours straight. It’s been so hard to deal with, and people who don’t have sleep disorders and still let themselves go... man what I would give for good sleep.

My 7 year old son has the same characteristics as your 12 year old. I truly think those personality traits will lead them to a successful career in sales..maybe becoming an lawyer. Visionary for sure. As a single mom, I internally struggle having a balance of that love and affection feminine motherly energy toward my son versus taking on a that true masculine role that a father has.. As a veteran who once upon was a combatcamera photographer, went to SERE, loves working out, competitive athlete - I can be a 'hard ass' cause I expect a lot of myself but because I'm hard on myself .. I'm "hard" on my son.. I make him wake up early workout, meditate, take ownership, call him out when he's being lazy.. his dad is not around to do that nor do I know whether he would be like that with him. My 'concern' is really from a single moms perspective and there is no male role model.. trying to balance both types of energies - He's a dudes dude... Sometimes I don't want to play football for hours or wrestle or shoot nerf guns or fix cars or go fishing.. however, I know that he just wants to do boy stuff and feel bad that his dad is not around so I really stuffed that 'female' energy and taken on "both" roles, yet, ironically this is what has blocked me from wanting to pursue another relationship (and possibly have a real male role model) in his life. I have strategically listened to goggins, jocko, ed mylett, andy while he's around and know that he's picking up on some of the wisdom. I also think anybody who judges someone else is just a reflection of their own insecurities. I have started 75hard and the outside workout I intentionally use it to train on the track or the field with my son. And 10 pages is read aloud as my son's "bedtime story" Lol.. Great episode! Thank you! New sub now

Men should be able to build themselves up and not make women feel like dirt underneath their feet. And that's a lot of men out there. But yes women need to make them men feel appreciated for what they do and how they make them feel. If the particular man deserves it and it's making a woman feel the same it's a two-way street. How are you doing in the 75 hard challenge are you still doing it have you had to start over if you are starting over? Some people are not doing it to that extent. I'm starting today with another group of women in a Facebook group. I am 60 years old with some health issues that may cause me to have to modify whether he feel that's acceptable or not. I'm assuming he would be because this is a mental fitness challenge mental Fitness is different for everyone and if my mental health is screwed up because I screw up my own physical health by trying to do something that may be unsafe for me then that would be stupid.. I'm doing it to get myself back into the good habits that I had before I am down from 218 lb to 137 or 138 right now so I know that following this challenge would help me rebuild the good habits that I am already instilled upon me other than the occasional Slack read but the slack is what causes people to fall off the wagons in life whether it be alcohol drugs food abusing their families abusing themselves. You got to build yourself up and keep yourself up there and I think challenges like this one even if it isn't this one are good to help people realize their potential in life

I wish had some people in Las Vegas to do 75 hard with. Andy if you see this comment thank you 🙏 so much I’ve been looking back to all the times in my life Where I was making progress with time were “good” I realized I had a mission/purpose I pretended I was in the marine corp lol and had voice in my head that made choose discipline I had started eating a vegan diet And I was working out, makin music, and kick in ass in massage school. And during hard times I reminds myself To count it all joy when I find myself in trial and tribulations anyway long story short When you said “Look back 90 days when you were executing and things were great, you said the work is great and not me but doing the work is great ! It’s not word for word but Your right I was executing back then and now I’m back at it again!!!!! Thank you so much Andy I hope to one day pop in your podcast to share my story !!!!!!

That's a sad seventeen-year-old I have to agree with you. I don't know anybody like that except the son of my one very good friend. But he has a particular form of autism but worked with he has improved a thousand percent over this past year because stuck at home without being allowed to just be out doing whatever he has had the opportunity to work with his mom who is wonderful. I don't believe there's a seventeen-year-old that doesn't know how to work a deadbolt unless he just chooses not to want to learn anything when my son was 17 years old he lived on his own and had two jobs and did his GED because he wanted to be on his own. By the time he was 19 he was co-owner of the business that he went in on with someone. He's now 40 but has flipped three houses been in management for over 30 years and just recently has changed positions. As far as learning how to operate a deadbolt I think he was probably five. I think when somebody doesn't know how to do something like that it's pure ignorance and wanting to learn anyting

When you guys started discussing masculinity and men being under attack is tack that completely resonated with me. I even did a video about it on my wee channel a month or so ago. I got some flack from somebody who is a single mom who raised what she feels like is a perfectly appropriate kid, And by all accounts he turned out to be a good man. I told her that the point wasn't that a single mom COULDNT raise a good person, but that men have our own role to play, ITS NOT TOXIC, and that society is just pissing away 50% of the equation that makes a potentially good human being. That should never be allowed. NEVER. "Dad lives matter" needs to be a thing. #DADLIVESMATTER

Burning down buildings isn't standing up for the right. What's the actual problem? Police brutality? How is stealing from target fixing police brutality? BLM as a movement hasn't changed any black neighborhoods for the better, but their founders sure got nice houses in white neighborhoods... He's not saying "blame others for your problems and make THEM change", he's saying "if you're not getting what you want out of life, YOU'RE doing something to cause that."

I respect his accountability mindset. The only caveat and disagreement that I think is important to touch on here is his stance on how all instances of protesting and calling attention to something is a product of bad parenting. I think there is a lack of personal understanding on his part of the root idea behind these protests and the effect that they are trying to cause. It's not about sitting back and blaming others or wallowing in self-pity, it's about calling attention to something that cannot and will not change without systemic change ushered in by popular demand. It's not about expecting the world to be fair and being disappointed. It's about seeing something that can improve, and working to improve it. Sometimes that comes out in unproductive ways, obviously, but I think there is a difference in voicing an opinion through protesting and throwing a temper tantrum. Sometimes those opinions are strong and angry, but that doesn't necessarily make them invalid.

Thank you for saying this because I’m tired of people not stopping to listen to what’s actually being protested. I think deep down some folks have accepted their life and upbringing and treatment and so they expect others to do the same with their own circumstances. But no, what’s wrong should be called out. Doing that won’t negate the fact that an NBA player made it out of their bad situation. They can still call out what they went through or what others ARE going through. It’s how the world gets better.

The left wants to destroy the family, heterosexual men, husbands, dads, boys. The protests are lead by leftists communists who want to overthrow civil society and the church.

Great podcast. I've done 75 HARD twice and am on Day 45 on my 3rd go around. The only thing stopping me from doing the Live Hard program are the cold showers. My inner bitch voice keeps yelling at me to turn the water to the hot side. I can do everything else if I can ever do the cold showers.
