You still got to be able to see the bristle to see any bites, so if it needs to be 2mm or 3mm then I use that. Colour of the bristle is also important to its visibility too!

Well done Andy quality explanation and filming along with sound 👏👏. Why do manufactures inc P.I. rate float shoting ie 4x16 4x18 etc it means nothing. As shot and Stotz are sized ie #6 #8 #9 #10 etc and these are what’s commonly sold and used by most anglers , there is no relation to 4x18 etc. . Someone once said the 4x18 etc is based on Styls a now obsolete range of weights so why are these obscure sizes related to on the latest floats ? TIA. 👍

Hi Andy can you do a video on shooting a deep water float with olivettes and droppers Thank you

Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats kzbin.infoUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

Hi Andy, great tips for us regular anglers. What type of float body would you use in a maximum depth of water of 3.5 foot that is always open to wind and very rarely calm? Cheers

Hi Andy, if and when would you use a diamond shaped body float? Great video 👍👍

Hi Coach - I have some original 3x8 chianti floats, they seem very fine, is there a place on a commercial for these, if so please can you recommend what line etc. Many thanks

Can Andy give any guidance regarding hook lengths. For example what line diameters would you use for size 12 hooks. Also hook lengths too. Sizes you use. When to use 2 inch to 15 inch.

Hi, what advice or what would you recommend for pole floats when fishing the grand Union canal. My local canal can be like fishing a river sometimes, flow can be eractic stop start , fast calm and tow can drive you crazy making presentation difficult. Any help much appreciated.

Just wondered why floats are still stylised as 4x10, 4x14 etc which goes back to Styl days, does anyone actually still use Styls?
