Came back to this after listening to his podcast for some time now. Really nice to see his growth as a person since leaving the court.

Sad. He truly deserved more Grand Slams but he came up against the toughest field in the open era.

Andy. You are my HERO forever forever. I will miss big serve after the US open. Because maybe we won't see your serve.

You were my inspiration when I played tennis Andy, I will miss you and can't imagine not watching after you're gone. I can't believe people are still giving you crap about your "underachieving" even now that you've announced your retirement. I hope you achieve everything you want outside of tennis, and I hope life brings you happiness. Good luck Andy, and thank you for everything!

Andy Roddick was always a very smart young man. He was a great hustler on the court and at his best for a few years from 2003 onwards. Federer could read Roddick’s serve. Nadal, Djokovic and Murray benefited from the slow courts. The 2009 final at Wimbledon was a heartbreaker. I loved the fight back from match point down in the 2003 US Open semi final against Nalbandian. ❤

I think they remained silent to show respect to his decision. His decision wasn't such a big surprise either, he's had quite a long career.

Great guy and a great player who has won grand slams and best severer in the history of the sport.Roddick sadly never recovered from the epic Wimbledon final in 2009 to Roger Federer where he pushed the great Roger all the way in that classic who should have won but sadly lost out in the end.Sad to see Andy Roddick go.
@FootkerSnooball Жыл бұрын
@michaelholmes795 Roddick didn't win grand "slams" plural. He should've only because he had the fastest serve but not due to being unlucky. Also if he "should've" won Wimbledon 2009 then he more than should've lost US Open 2003. He was actually 2 sets & a match point down on route to his sole grand slam win. He was not as close to winning Wimbledon he just played better than his previous Wimbledon matches vs Federer he got more sets in 2009 final than he did in the previous 9 sets in 2003 SF and 2004 & 2005 finals put together where he only managed 1 set in the 3 matches. He was losing 2 sets to 1 in the 2009 final as well before taking it to a 5th set. People go on about how he should've won the 2nd set tie-break yeah probably but A he didn't and B he nicked the 1st set which Federer should've won Federer had many break points to go 6-5 up Roddick just managed to save them then he gets 1 break point in the next game which was also set point and he nicks the set with it. Federer scored 10 more points than Roddick overall in that final and I think Roddick served more games than Federer.

I agree. I am not sure if you remember, but he missed a fairly simple net shot at a crucial moment that may have cost him the match. I was wathcing it live and almost had a heart attack. Amazing how 1 shot can make such a huge difference.

Hhaaha.'I didn't want to make it through this press conference without a direct comparison to Roger, so thank you for that.' And only Federer could handle it the way He did the same line of questioning was raised in His interview.'Let's focus on Andy,not on me tonight.'

andy is sensible in not making tennis, the only thing that matter´s in his life, he has other thing´s to look forward to and he´s already done a lot, to help the less fortunate and now he can rest his body and avoid further wear and tear, play golf, relax, enjoy..
