I really like the idea of Kino Loy as an Union Leader. Even when you see him as a harsh manager, you can see he still cares for his comrades, the way he encourages them for their shifts

I like how they mention Snoke once or twice, and then spend a full 15 minutes talking about Kino Loy. Despite Snoke being a "main villain" in the disney movies, he is totally overshadowed by a side character who shows up for a few episodes of a TV series. Just goes to show how much of a difference passion and quality writing make in how powerful and memorable a character is.

i fucking hope they can start saying "Best known for Gollum in Lord of the Rings and Kino in Star Wars" and never mention Snoke again.

I look at Serkis' role in Andor as an apology for utterly squandering his talents as Snoke. It was like 'Hey Andy, sorry about that hot mess, come and provide an absolutely scene-stealing emotional powerhouse performance in the utterly underrated best piece of Star Wars media in years. You can even use your own real human face."
@Snagprophet

Oh yeah, there's a reason why they don't ask him to do Snoke impressions or the fact he never went to Star Wars Celebration before this. I wonder if he feels as insulted as the fans at what they did with Snoke. I mean no-one even cares about Snoke. Kino was definitely a redemption role for Andy.

I really hope that all of the sequel actors put into this situation can one day get a role like this that makes audiences forget about how their talents once went unappreciated by the writers.

When he's asked in interviews he says that he genuinely has no idea who Snoke is. For an actor not to know what character he's playing, or played years since, is laughable.

I don’t know, I think they utilized him well as Snoke. I just see this as Andy being a massive fan and loving this franchise so much that he is returning for more Star Wars, this time something more inspiring and impactful as the man who inspired Cassian to be a leader and the man we know him as in Rogue One

I'll be honest, when I first saw Andy Serkis as Kino, I rolled my eyes. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent actor - but having played Snoke, being in the Avengers and in general becoming a fixture of these big budget, bloated Hollywood spectacles, he just felt like the Disney corporate machine intruding on this more mature, independent story that until that point shied away from fanservice, continuity gags or people-pleasing cameos. Of course he quickly proved to be exactly the right man in the right role and his character turned out more nuanced than I anticipated - Kino is the heart of what is arguably the best story arc in the show. I'm so glad he actually got to be in Star Wars as somethng more than a glorified Emperor Palpatine ventriloquist dummy.

He's always been terrific performance-capture artist but I never thought of Andy Serkis as a great live-action actor but he ruled. Part of me certainly wants to see him return to Star Wars in the future.

That is a form of acting and he’s not just great at it he pioneered it working on lord of the rings as Gollum. Was that performance and advancement in technology of course that gave other directors the courage to try fully cgi characters. Not only that but if you were an average actor trying to play the roles Andy has done you would struggle immensely. He’s a great actor in every sense of the word. I think he’s a legend.

I know you don't mean any slight, but so many people write off MOCAP as 'not real', and that's insane to me. Like, Andy was literally the grandfather of the MOCAP medium, it exists as a medium to some extent arguably because the man was an astonishing talent, and brought it credibility. I do agree however, it is good that his real face gets a bit off attention now and then lol

Kino was instantly one of my favorite characters in Star Wars. He just carried so much emotion, depth, and charisma despite not having a ton of lines or content. He did so much with the role and I'd be all for more of Kino - even if it's not related to Jedi, Clones, Rebels, Sith, etc. Just like... a working man in the galaxy.
