So simplistic, but somehow draws you in, and keeps you there. Andy Warhol is the shit. I live in Pittsburgh, and make it a point to go to the museum AT LEAST 1 time a year. My favorite picture is with him a Sugar Ray Leonard. Sugar Ray just has his glove up, as if he was "hitting" Andy, and Andy has this expression on his face...just like he was bored with the entire thing. It's great.

I think the audio plays a big part in the whole feel of this video. Is it just me or is all the sound focused on the crumples and bonks of the food packaging? It's hypnotizing. Plus, it sure makes a burger look appetizing.

The truth is Andy really was a hard working artist. Just look at the number of paintings he produced. He put a lot of thought into his work, too. Making it look like it took no effort was really just an act.

I'm tittilated by the sound of the bag and the "bounce" of the box on the table as he pops it open and gently lifts the burger from out of it. Then, w/ the crunching of the bag as he crumples it at the end, book-ends the short nicely. The audio is a retro-look into how things were manufactured then, ie: the chemical compound of paper and cardboard some 20 years ago was alot heftier and less bio-degradable than todays fast-food containers. Fascinating.

I really like his style. Just this week I sat in a Burger King eating lunch next to a lot of marginally employed (at best) people and people on jury duty. I was shovelling down a giant $6.95 combo meal thinking 1. that it was way too much food for one sitting, 2. that Heinz ketchup is a godsend, and 3. that I could steal a giant handful of napkins to defray $1 off my general expenses. So, since I'm probably too lazy to write up or film my thoughts beyond this post,I'm glad Warhol made this film!

so many little nuances that i love about this...the sound of the crinkling paper is one..he also places the ketchup on the paper and dips the burger in it rather than spreading it on the burger? i wonder what that background noise is? I really do love the sound of that crinkling paper...

I wouldn't say it ruins it. In fact, the wonder of it is, to me, that it works as art on many levels. It could be argued to be unaesthetic, but presented as art, making it an artistic commentary on art. This leads you to reflect on the role of the presentation in art, and whether marketing itself is art. This forms one of Warhol's central themes. It works as art because it's an abstraction of an ordinary event, returning it to a simple artistic norm. And, so on.

Although you may not appreciate it, he's pointing out a very obvious question and commentary on "art." What it is art? Who decided? Your very statement assumes that there's a box or set of rules to define what art really is.

@jeffhinkle100 that's just a thought from you as an individual, most allegorical meanings behind no one will ever know unless the artist himself tells you. Art is too difficult and too complicated to find the hidden meaning behind it. I choose not to try and search for the meaning that much unless I truly enjoy the piece of art and want to know so much more. I just marvel and the brilliant idea that artist came up with and how intriguing it is.

Most of you are completely misinterpreting Warhol's approach to art and movies... His point wasn't to make everyday objects seem interesting, in fact it was the complete opposite. His point was to take mass produced images and shove them back into the consumers face basically to ask "to what extent is art? What should be appreciated and what should be overlooked as just ordinary?" That's why he called his workshop "the Factory"

he did say we would promote his name in any possible way i don't see the effort in his art, in fact, he said it was effortless, he took mass selling products and put his name on them warhol himself viewed art as pure business, a lot of his ideas came from others, and some of his paintings were done by others too it was all about selling his 'art', which he didn't even consider art
