I played one of these 15 years ago when I was in high school, my drummer friend's older brother had one and he stole it for me to use for a day. We played Stone Roses "Waterfall" for about an hour because we couldn't stop listening to the beautiful repeats. I wanted one ever since but they were impossible to find. So glad they're back!

I have been thinking of this pedal for a while and have been torn between the hefty price for such a special effect and the obviously magical sound of it. Yesterday I ordered one, based primarily on this demo, and now I find myself looking forward to receiving it more than I usually do when ordereing a new pedal. Can't wait to try it myself.

@@TheWriter86 I returned it actually. I found it was much harder to make use of the effect in a song than I hoped. I have since bought a EHX Holy grail max , which has a gorgeous backwards reverb instead, and that was more usable to me. I suggest you try the backtalk at the store before buying, to know if it is for you.

I really wanted to hate this pedal but after hearing your opener I have to say, it's cool! a very specific effect and it does what it does really well .. also for a reasonable price. I may or may not purchase the Back Talk but, I have been mulling over the Breakup for a while now, glad you used both. I have the original Fab Drive and have used the heck out of it over the years .. and in place of some "much" higher priced pedals. it has a beefy hairy but smooth tone unattainable by the other pedals I own. Very nice demo Sir.

Would have to agree, I think lurching from "cheap" pedals to $200 is a real downside. They're great pedals (my Eisenhower is one of my favorites) but jumping to 200 on these latest was just not the best marketing idea, I think it immediately put people off. $150 said, "we're going to up our game" but $200 just said "we're like a hand built boutique company," --- and they are not.

Cool, but not as cool as a Red Panda Tensor. Sounds better with more options which makes it waaaaay more usable. Tape slow down, speed up, reverse, pitch shift up or down, time slow or speed up...or any combo. Plus a looper that's insane with granular goodness that has latching, momentary or normal looping. Not to mention you can use an expression pedal which is 1/2 the fun. $100 more but infinitely better. Before you bash this comment go look. I just helped you. And it's dead silent with no noise floor. You really can't beat it for what it does.
