One of my favorite pedal ever! I think the old one acts/sounds ever so slightly better but the enclosure of the reissue makes it that much more desirable to me. Also congrats on 5k, well deserved 🎉
@PedalExperiments Жыл бұрын
I agree! The reissue gets about 95% of the way, which might be a deal-breaker for some people, but the smaller, more pedalboard-friendly size, along with the slightly more affordable price, easily makes up for it in my opinion. Thanks, mate! 😁👍🏻

You explained the settings really well. Thank you! I have a better idea of how to use speed now! Edit: to answer the question, it would be cooler to have the original but more useful to have the reissue! I use it on pedal steel with delay to create even more sustain (25% mix, 16% repeat, and about 40% speed) but it also interacts amazingly with a low settings phaser set to 90. I don’t have a lot of pedals (overdrive, compression, phaser, delay, reverse delay, volume) compared to some shoe gazers I know, but I’m happy I put this in my stack!

I have the original and have used it for years-it’s my main go-to pedal for trippy solos. I wanted to sell it and switch to the new one to save some space on my pedalboard and maybe make a bit of money. Unfortunately, I can hear the differences... so mine is staying. In my opinion, the old one is worth the big money.

Great pedal but it’s surreal to see them charging $285 CAD for the new version In the 90s Danelectro we’re the cheap brand lol
@PedalExperiments Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know! I think they're trying to cash in on the prices the old ones fetch, tbh. Although even the other pedals in this range are similarly priced. 🤷♂️ My best mate found this one for me, and it was only £100. So they can be had for more realistic prices if you're prepared to wait for a bargain...

The incidental sounds on the old one make it really special. All the weird gltiching, warbles, the way it shifts time, the smear of the repeats. It's all very inspiring in that late 90s "this technology can barely handle what we are asking of it" kinda way. There is a special charm to a lot of gear of that age as ambition often was greater than what tech could provide. The new one is good, but the nuances of the old one that make it special just arent there. It's less inspiring as, well, it does what it is supposed to do (reverse delay sounds) with more precision. That isnt necessarily what you want out of a pedal like this. Would people notice live? No idea. Context is king. Is this really a pedal a lot of people would use in a live context or is it just a studio inspiration machine?

This just sounds like another one of those "old good, new bad" narratives guitar players love so much. No one clings to the past as hard as guitar players do. What are you scared of?
@PedalExperiments16 күн бұрын
Nobody is calling the newer reissue "bad", but I can definitely tell that the old one is ever-so-slightly better. For me, however, the difference is negligible. Plus, I prefer the slimmer design and top-mounted jacks of the reissue, so it's well worth picking up. Especially at a third of the price!
@fiveways16 күн бұрын
@@LOOMING_WRAITH_OF_BAD_OMEN I like a lot of modern gear. Like so have a full modelling rig at home. I also like some very specific vintage gear because it does stuff in a less predictable way. Like the more ambitious digital delay pedals from 1982 to 2002 all kinda have their own quirks and I love them for it. Those quirks to me are a source of new sounds. Those quirks also help balances out some of the sterility of modern stuff. So it is a balance.

I have a Donner Island which also has the clock sound but not that often, usually with a weak signal. The problem with all my cheap reverse pedals is they don't go very wet, they're better with a hot signal, but as with the Island, you get nasty digital clipping when overdriven too much. Not the sweet analogue clipping, but the harsh fm static fizz.

@@solomonsanchez1897 No the original came in a box with a booklet and 60's peace symbol stickers. I actually have all that.
