I hope it'll work on my chihuahua 😅 he can learn nearly anything but I couldn't get him to sit for the love of God 🤣

Update, it didn't work 😅 I've noticed he sits every time I ask him to go to his bed, so I've added the command before he puts his bum down. Worked like a charms. But the method from the video worked on my cousins dog :)

I have a 4-month-old Golden Retriever, I’ve been working with him since he came home (at 8 weeks) and he is SO SMART! But, he’s also very stubborn. I want to get to where he will learn without always having a “food reward” but he loses interest very quickly when he realizes there’s no reward. (I also train with kibble, not necessarily “treats”) It’s been very trying, since trying to limit food rewards. I’m going to try this! He loves to work, and he loves to learn. But, maybe he loves food just a little more. 😂

I've got my puppy home yesterday and I can't seem to keep his attention for longer than 2 seconds to do any training, he'd rather not have the food no matter what it is he's that stubborn, what did you find that worked eventually @michiganmama or anyone 😅
@michiganmama562 Жыл бұрын
@@jedi9657 How old is he? When my boy first came home, we did the shortest training sessions in the world. If you could even call them that! If I could hold his attention at all, it was considered a success! You always want to end on a high note, and if you see it’s beginning to go downhill, it’s best to wrap it up on a high note while you can. Small pups have very little to no attention, so don’t let that discourage you. My boy isn’t quite a year yet, and his attention has grown so much. He still has good and bad days, like anyone, and I’m still using the food reward! 😑 But, it’s working for him. I just found that meeting my pup where he is; helped the most. If he’s not ready for more; don’t do more! If you can get him to look at you, or walk to you, that may be all he has! That’s ok. Reward, with food, reward with affection, and try again later! The goal for a super young pup is to get them excited about learning! So showing that there is a reward for their work, food, and affection.. it starts to click! Like, hey this is good! You could also try a high value reward! If my boy is learning something new, or something he’s not that interested in; I use a high value reward, to get him interested, and motivated. I typically use organ meat for high value rewards! Maybe try some high value rewards? See if your pup will come to you, from a few steps away. Then high value reward! Do you use a clicker? That also helped my boy, because he knew he did it right, and the treat was coming next!

I’m still amazed by how kind some people can be. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this advice for me. It was excellent and exactly what I needed. I’m so appreciative! After a few days It turns out he just needed a bit more time to settle, and now that he’s come out of his shell, he loves treats and isn't stubborn at all. Thank you again for your advice; it really helped!!

My pitwiller was a chunky puppy and I'd call him lard a** when he'd get into stuff he wasn't supposed to and he would lose his mind and get the zoomiez then my female malinois I had started losing her mind when he started running around like a little crackhead lard was just something that I never trained them on but it was a trigger and they'd go bat sh*t crazy running around like they had a red bull and did a line😂
