Great video Have you ever run into a situation where the oil has disappeared after an oil and filter change?

I have seen a rolling pin used to squeeze out the moisture. They covered with the towels you have there. Just a FYI

I'll have to do that when Mrs Mechanic is out of the kitchen! Great point, Thanks Andy

I use the Maxima, shocked you used it indoors. I did that once, brutal product to smell. I did the ol' rinse inside, my wife was extremely pissed about the Maxima chemical smell that lingered for a week in the kitchen 😬

+1 on dishwashing liquid. I use it for my KLR650 's. Was the new pre filter the right diameter? Maybe you could have cut the top off it? Good work as usual.

My uncle was a mechanic, if something came in dirty, he cleaned it, fixed it, then politely scolded the owner for not keeping basic care lol.

It's running rich, that's excess gas burning in the exhaust. Check fuel system.

Been asking around on the Facebook groups and 98% swear the stock air filter will dust your engine out, I just dont know what to believe.

It really depends on the operating environment. In most cases the standard OEM filter is just fine Cheers Andy

@@AndyMechanic I'm a mechanic at a coal mine, we have the nastiest finest dust to ever ruin your lungs. Shit that just hangs in the air for 5 minutes. All our equipment utilizes paper elements with secondary filters. On the inside, very rarely do you see any dirt on the secondary filter, if you do its because dirt fell on theme when you removed the primary filter. This is why I'm having such a hard time believing the guys on the Facebook king quad groups all chanting that the stock filter will dust out your engine. Unless there is a faulty design, maybe the lower seal you greased up isnt done right from factory, maybe dirt coming through the wing nut? Honestly the paper element was a buying factor in choosing the king quad for me, I hate dealing with oiling filters and in my experience paper is absolute, even to the degree where I've seen it plug up so bad it has caved in the intake piping on some equipment.

Not trying to be a know it all, just trying to gather info on whether I can keep it stock or need to get a foam filter

@@Markmeblablabla well what did you decide? See I find it hard to believe that Suzuki would make a inferior air filter. Because they really don’t want to pay out doing warranty work. So if it’s good for the period of the warranty why wouldn’t it be a good filter ?
@Markmeblablabla2 жыл бұрын
@@joerutkowsky3261 I got a uni filter, I will however say the stock filter from factory had no oil on the foam sleeve, even though the owners manual specifies it should be oiled (with engine oil but I cant remember) If I were to have kept using the stock filter I would certainly oil the element, the base of the filter, and where the through rod retainer gose through the filter as thats probably the most likely for dirt entry.
