i’ve been binging this series non stop. putting the lenses on the phone book entry for Sarah Connor was just way above and beyond. this work is just incredible.

So, I just discovered your channel while searching for other people who've built the T800 arms. Your build is absolutely insane! Every time I think I can't be any more impressed, I watch another video. Absolutely amazing work, I'm attempting to build an arm myself, but much less detailed than yours. I hope it turns out

Good to have you aboard and good luck! There are many many different ways I've seen to build T800 parts, wood, metal, paper, PVC pipe... And the original movie prop used many found and hardware-store parts.

12:40 I don’t know if they were intentional, but I absolutely love the little black hearts on the pupils.
@rootvalue2 жыл бұрын
Or maybe they’re called irises. 😅
@AndysMachines2 жыл бұрын
I call them iris blades or leaves, I'm not sure what the correct term is. This small detail wasn't actually intentional, if you look at the right half of the mould at 11:55 you can just make out this detail in the corner where the tool cut slightly deeper. I probably used two different tools to create the mould and didn't have them set to exactly the same height, one tool to clear the bulk of the metal and a smaller one for finishing.

The best Terminator eyes ever made ! Beautiful. I love the appearance of the red light through the acetal have you tried a black tint film to look really "dead" when they're off?
@AndysMachines4 жыл бұрын
I do actually have some black acetal as well, but I don't think the light will show through it. A thin piece of matt black vinyl might work. Ok, I just tried a black sharpie marker, it sticks fairly well to the acetal (I thought it might just rub off) but even that attenuates the red light quite a lot.

When do you upload the next video? Your build is the best
@AndysMachines4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm working on episode 10 now. In between each upload I'm working fairly constantly on the terminator with whatever time I can spend on it, sometimes it just takes longer because there's more involved with making that particular part. At the moment everything is just taking longer because of the covid lockdown. But hopefully ep. 10 won't be too long now.

If you want to make the iris a bit cleaner on the edges something that I would do is just take apart a bunch of cheap cameras
@AndysMachines4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did think about that. You can even buy irises separately. But A. it's really hard to find them this small, most camera ones are much larger, and B. I like the challenge of making things myself. Yes, the final result is not as perfect as I would have liked, though I think it still produces an interesting effect even if it's not screen accurate.
@ender_slayer34 жыл бұрын
@@AndysMachines True enough, you could even have it be part of the backstory, considering that the one you are basing this off of is the one that was blown in half

Awesome! But the iris could be better...
@AndysMachines4 жыл бұрын
Yes, valid criticism. This 'sliding leaf' iris was my own design to save space, the aperture is bigger compared to it's overall size than the more traditional pivoting-blade type, but each leaf needs a little clearance to move and all the small gaps tend to add up to form a single big gap at some point as it closes. If I were to do it again I might use a blade type iris and change the focal length of the lens to give more magnification to compensate for the smaller aperture. (I might even do it again as well...)

Классно получается, но по моему делать из металла это перебор. Затратно и тяжелый получится. Да и времени много на работу уйдёт. Хотя это не важно когда руки из правильного места ростут.
