This guy is luckier than the one who tried to do the same to the Field Museum (full of gems, antiquities, etc)nearly 100 years ago. Back then, the Shedd Aquarium had shared vents since both were owned I. The same family. Guy hid in the Shedd Aquarium, then when it closed, he tried to sneak through the heating vents and got stuck. He passed away there and no one knew until the heating blasted foul air, which led them to his body.

There is a bunch of incidents like these. Like that person who broke into a building and because of the way the building was structured, fell inside a pillar on the front door and passed away (there was a gap between the outer part and the core of the pillar, and it was connected to something upstairs) I don't remember much about it, only that customers noticed due to blood leaking from one pillar

That happened to a us teenager around 3-5 years ago. His phone got broken, he got mad his mother won't buy him a replacement and went to vent by exploring a nearby empty house. Climbed the easily accessible roof and tried to get in via chimney. Only at the bottom he realized there was no chimney. The house used a different way to produce heat. It was around christmas and no one could hear him. Took police 3 weeks to find the body.

Just read a news article a few days ago about a guy's body finally getting identified 50 years after he tried climbing down a chimney, getting stuck, and ended up passing away. They only found his bones years after his passing when someone was cleaning the vents

Sounds like something Vlad's brother in-law would do. I'm talking about the Payday 2 contractor, Vlad. He has a brother who is pretty dumb (and obviously caused Vlad to reconsider if family is worth dying for) and in one heist called "Stealing Xmas" was tasked with smuggling "white snow" but cops got track of him, he hid into a storage area of a shopping mall, dressed into a Santa Claus costume, put the white snow into the storage and so it got all over the entire mall. He found Vodka and got drunk, which police then arrested. What a genius. Honestly that heist is one of my most favourite of all.

There's been a number of chimneys torn down during remodeling, and sometimes they find a thoroughly dessicated body inside. Another incident involved a supermarket's air conditioning system...they were taking it out to upgrade it, and between it and the wall was a person they identified as a worker there, who had disappeared some years before the discovery. Turns out he was know for taking "cat naps" on top of the AC unit, and apparently rolled over in his sleep, and....well, you know.

Only way for him to. Avoid a robbery is to so this during December 25, having a sack with at least something resembling presents (of what people in the bar or workers likes), and dressed up as Santa Claus. Even if his attempt was to save money, he wouldn't be arrested, or at worst, let go with a warning to be careful of entering chimneys to try and be like Santa during Christmas eve, since the police would think he is trying to share, not rob.
