Ooo that's how you supposed to do it, I cheesed it, I just put the ball in the corner by the ramp, guided to the ball, jumped on the ramp and then grab the ball put it in the hole for a few seconds then just recall before it fell

Yeah, the reverse mechanic feels so forced into gameplay. I never use it in regular play except where it's shoehorned in as the specific answer to a puzzle which takes away half the "come up with your own solution" element this game's supposed to focus on.
