This is the third video I watched on Anemones and you're the first person who actually explains how to care for them. Everyone else just whined about how delicate they are, without any real information. I appreciate it so much.😎 My shop logo is the Anemone and I wish more people understood how awesome they are. 🥰I'd much rather work with anemones all day than do another basic dozen roses. 😵

New florist here, I have a wedding with these flowers this Saturday. I unfortunately had no idea how fussy these flowers were and of course agreed to make corsages with them. Any recommendations to keep them alive? I learned they hate being out of water
@FlowerMoxie2 жыл бұрын
Ah dang, I've done that! Be sure to pop them in a hydration chamber after you make them, and tell the recipients to be careful when hugging. After that, you just have to let go and let God...... You can inform the bride you feel they won't hold up to the hugging and ask if she would mind if you used another white flower. That way, if they fall apart she has to own the decision, you know?

What if you use this flower in bud vases? Can you place them in the vase as you process? Or give them time by themselves in their own container to open?
@FlowerMoxie Жыл бұрын
Definitely using anemones in water is going to help with their longevity! Using them in floral foam is really tricky since the stems are so soft. One of the things that affect anemones so much is heat. If they're used during warm weather months they open and fade really quickly. Working with them in cooler temperatures is the way to go, or keeping them in the fridge until you need to use them!

What is the best way to dry anemones?
@FlowerMoxie4 ай бұрын
Anemones are delicate and the typical at-home method of drying them upside down doesn't work well. They tend to brown and shatter, and generally don't hold up well.

When I wire and store before wedding, will they rust and cause problems?
@FlowerMoxie7 ай бұрын
The sire shouldn't rust! If you're using floral wire it's usually coated and shouldn't cause any issues!

I have a couple questions: Do anemones hold up to being secured by the bottom of the stem in a pin flower frog? Another commenter asked if they would like to be in a bud vase, but I didn't see an answer. Bud vases OK? And lastly, are all anemones like this? I will primarily be using the purple Mr. Fokker variety. Just curious if any are more hardy than others. Thanks! Awesome video.

Anemones would be fine in a pin frog or bud vase! For the pin frog, they have soft hollow stems and the stems can be prone to splitting so it's something to be mindful of. We've found all anemones to like this. They can be very delicate and prefer cool temps.

Can I wire an anemone?
@FlowerMoxie2 жыл бұрын
Nope, not really, not in the same way you can wire a ranunculus. Anemones are so fussy that I'd be concerned that'd get all dramatic and die if I tried to wire them. Fortunately, they're not prone to curving or bending under their own weight like a ranunculus because their heads/petals aren't heavy.

I love anemones, but after this I am definitely considering sticking a few fake ones in the bouquet and not worrying about it, haha.

If you are in a city where we have a local pickup, you will be fine, unless your wedding 100-degree temps. ☺
@AudreyPerry Жыл бұрын
@@FlowerMoxie local pick up is available about 1.5 hours from me and my wedding is end of October in the south. Weather varies, but unlikely to be over 80 even if it’s unusually warm. Probably low to mid 70s for a high.

@@AudreyPerry If you're doing a lot of flowers it's worth it to put on your favorite podcast or just to have some time to yourself and pick them up, that way, you don't have to worry about any FedEx delay (which delays flowers for 1 day). As far as anemones, they should do better in October, but if you're nervous then go with faux. XXXX, Amy
