Is Tarja metal as far as voice goes?> No. She never was and never liked it. Are babymetal kids (well now, young ladies) metal as far as vocal style goes? Fuck no, they have pop vocals layered on metal rythms...You can't categorise it. Annete was chosen so as not to mimic Tarja and then had to carry the band live with songs which were not suited to her, terrible production with no reverb (listen to Tarja live she is drowned on reverb ...Floor isn't. Check Tarja's own bootleg live recordings. You'll be surprised how much they are alike.)

Anette has always been my favorite vocalist for Nightwish. Nothing ahainst Floor or Tarja as they are also amazing. I'm just saying my favorite stuff from Nightwish was when Anette sang for them. Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are my favorite records from Nightwish. I will always love Anette's voice and consider her one of the best vocalists in the Symphonic Metal scene.

People tend to forget that NW didn't want another Tarja. They wanted to go in a different direction. Annette's version of this was what they were looking for. Annette allowed Tuomas to explore different avenues of music instead of being confined to the operatic vocals that Tarja excelled in. I think Annette's contributions to NW are beyond measure, and most fans don't give her enough credit for what she's done to promote the band and move it past being just another symphonic metal band. On the same note, both Tarja and Annette's solo material have been a bit bland. This just goes to show that the heart of the band was/is still Tuomas.

I tend to prefer Anette, her lighter, brighter vocals are perhaps more commercial, I personally listen to a lot of classical and opera, but it's not for everyone, Tarja and Floor are amazing, but maybe too heavy for some. Anette has such a sweet, beautiful voice.

+Anna Fitzpatrick Nothing to hate about her. Songs like this just don't fit her vocal range, that was the issue. The songs from Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum - no problem. Give her Storytime, Amaranth, Slow Love Slow or TPATP any day of the week. Give her Ever Dream, GLS or Wishmaster, and that's where things started to get messy. It's not really her fault, the guys should've known better than giving her songs that were not for her range.

Floor using an operatic voice to sing a song that was originally written for an operatic vocalist does not mean she imitates Tarja. I really like Anette's songs in Dark Element, they're excellent and I listen to some of them on repeat even these days, it's just some songs are written for a different singing style, like ballades, operas etc. Anette did a great attempt at the song that's not exactly written for her singing style here, but I'd still like if she didn't change the lyrics as I failed to sing along :(.

Anette has a very beautiful tone to her voice... I just wish she had trained it a little more, not necessarily classically, but she sounds so shaky sometimes, as if she's going great and suddenly she switches into karaoke mode. :)

Actually, I did hear Anette singing Ever Dream live (I've got a recording of it in my channel). I thought it was perfect, she had so much power in the chorus, it was really amazing. And, well, if you ask me, Anette can sing as well live as she did in studio. I'm really sad that she left Nightwish because I think that she suited Nightwish perfectly.

No e spor Anette es por Tarja cuando una banda pierde el cantante y viene otro los fanáticos sienten que la esta remplazando y aunque de alguna forma es cierto es porque las circunstancias así se dieron ... A mi no me gusta Nigthwish y nunca me gusto la voz de Tarja vine a escuchar este tema porque soy cantante y toca cantarla como cover en la banda en la que estoy por la misma razón escuche esta canción en sus 3 versiones con las 3 cantantes incluyendo los vivos y en gusta más la versión de Anette me parece interesante su voz... Que es tener una voz para el metal? El metal es u. Genero musical y no tiene una forma de ser cantado de hecho en mis gustos personales las voces muy líricas no me parecen metaleras (y no me gustan a excepción de Roy khan de Kamelot pero considero que no lo hace tan lírico) yo prefiero las voces como Dio mas profundas raspadas "sucias" ... La voz de Anette suena pop pero es bastante buena y en vivo es muy creativa

That one was from 2008, right? I've heard that one, too. It doesn't sound good but her performances from 2007 are even worse. Wishmaster was out of her range that time. I'm glad that Anette improved so much, so that I can hear her singing the old without much struggling. Well, there's a performance of Wishmaster from Moscow in 2009 which is really good. Not as powerful as Tarja's version but beautiful.

That's totally okay. I don't think that Anette was always perfect, especially on songs originally sung by Tarja (especially on Slaying The Dreamer, she wasn't belting there, she was screaming) but I think if you consider that those weren't written for her, she does a really amazing job. I like Tarja as well, but I totally love Anette, she's my favourite singer :)

A voz da Anette é muito doce e agradável. Gosto também da acentuação das notas. Não gosto da primeira cantora da banda. A atual (Floor) é a mais técnica e tem extensão vocal maior.

All three female lead singers had their pluses and their minuses. I like them all, but I do have a tendency to like one more then another in certain songs. In my opinion Ever Dream is a Tarja song with Floor next and Anette last. But that is my opinion of course. Some may switch it around and like Anetter first. They were all great and!

All 3 singers are different in their own way and that is a good thing. We are lucky that Nightwish have had 3 very talented singers. My own opinion is that Tarja was unique, there was not really any rock bands with an "operatic voice". personally I find it hard to understand the words she is singing, unless I have subtitles. There is no way Thoumas could have another singer like Tarja and I fully respect his decision to go with Anette. the albums with her are more accessible, you can hear the lyrics much easier. Anette does struggle at times with Tarja era songs. Anette though has a wonderful childlike innocence to her voice. Only 1 song makes my cry everytome Poet and Pendulum but has to be Anette. I find Floor just a tad agressive especially on Mother and father section. Floor is a magnificent singer though and she easily manages all era of Nightwish songs. In terms of singing quality, and versatility, IMHO has to be Floor, then Tarja then Anette. Interestingly there is very little live footage of Anette of a decent quality, I think it was probably because she was just not as confident a singer as Tarja and Floor. I have heard Anette with her band, Dark Element and she has improved dramatically. I have also seen tarja live recently and her voice is still superb and more rock orientated now

At the beginning I thought that this is nothing special, but then it gets better and better. Pop covers of classical songs often sound cool, and something similar can also be said about this one. :))))) Still I like the original a lot more, but thumbs up for this version too! I am surprised in a positive way I admittedly didnt expect :) And btw these (except the first one) are some of the coolest pics of Anette I have ever seen! :)).

Ever dream is THE Nightwish song for me. The lyrics and the feeling are what I adore and more than music: Love, lust, deep longing and hope. When I heard it for the first time I got obsessed with nw :D And it was just a live video, sung by Anette.

I, for one, have been listening to Nightwish since the 'Wishmaster' album came out. I love both Tarja and Annette and recognize that both of them have completely different vocal styles but are equally talented. Honestly, can you imagine working with Tuomas?
