This is good to hear. I think most people don't really know what he is like. Mr. Gibson certainly has been through some hard knocks but has learned from his past experiences and come out of it a better man. 😂 don’t make god the hero when in reality God gave you free will to do whatever you pleased and you messed it all up being selfish while having kids to take care of.. it messes the kids up in different ways for life seeing a parent constantly drunk and how do I know because your story is like my moms.. god doesn’t care that you messed up your life but is pleased that you salvaged what’s left. Sadly your children will NEVER get that precious time with their father back... as a daughter of an alcoholic who chose alcohol over me ...i can tell you, we NEVER get over it. And most of us sadly never really learn to trust others after having been discarted by the ONE man who was suposed to protect us from the evils of the world. I pray you do everything you can to get back some of the time you lost with them. Otherwise your words ring pretty hollow .

It's not something everyone can do because it is a stimulant. Many people can have self control and maybe get a "hit" or a "high " , but it has ruined many many lives , relationships and families. We all are broken people. We can lie to ourselves as much as we want but a vice is a vice. The better choice is to stay as far from it as possible. People should learn to live life with intoxication whatever the occasion might be. Be yourself in the moment or don't use these vices as an escape/ coping mechanisms to temporarily heal your hurt

That is so true. As one who is an alcoholic I can attest to what Mel just said (we both have green genes, that Irish curse, that genetical predisposition to booze!). People usually don't realize how insidious that alcohol is & can be, as its seductive influence will creep up on one & overtake them before they know that it has. That's the disease, the addiction, & how it worsens over time. Both Mel & myself have been down that road so we know how damaging & devastating its effects are via experience.
