Her death comes just about 25 years after the passing of her son, Freddie Mercury.
Freddie Mercury’s mother, Jer Bulsara, passed away on Nov. 13 at the age of 94. Kashmira Cooke, Mercury’s sister, confirmed the news of her mother’s death on Sunday (Nov. 20) in a statement to the press, saying that she died in her sleep.
Born in Gujarat, India, in 1922, Jer married husband, Bomi, a former cashier in the British Colonial Office. The couple and their two children Freddie and Kashmira fled to Feltham, Middlessex, during the Zanzibar Revolution in 1964. Jer and Bomi then relocated to Nottingham to be closer to their grandchildren following Freddie's death from AIDs-related pneumonia on November 24, 1991. Bomi died aged 95 in 2003.
Queen’s Brian May paid tribute to his late bandmate’s mother with a touching letter posted on his website: “Jer was a warm and devoted Mum to Freddie, and, like Freddie, always had a strong twinkle in the eye. Although she was also devoted to her husband Bomi, and lived in the Zoroastrian faith as a good Parsee, she had an independent spirit and a strong sense of humour.”
“Of course I knew her for over 50 years, and when I first used to go around to Freddie’s parents’ house in Feltham, only a few yards from where I lived, in our student days, Jer was a busy Mum, full of life and optimism,” May continued. “And even then, fiercely proud of her children, Freddie and Kashmira.”
“It’s probably true to say that Freddie’s father, strongly committed to the Parsee faith, didn’t find it easy that Freddie took the path he did, as a Rock musician, and a fairly irreverent one, at that. Nevertheless the support was always there. But Jer was always a keen follower of our progress as a band, and always came to see us when we played nearby, always with huge enthusiasm. Freddie was very close to his Mum, and, I think, took a mischievous pleasure in trying to shock her,” he said.
“In private moments with us, away from the glare of the spotlights, in latter years Jer was always ready with a cup of tea when we visited, and we were always able to speak about ‘My Freddie' without shyness, feeling that he was not far away,” said May.
"Freddie adored his strong mum. RIP Jer,” Queen’s Roger Taylor commented. Bulsara will have a private Zoroastrian funeral ceremony. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Mercury’s death. The Queen frontman passed on Nov. 24, 1991.

It’s better now than it was in the 80s & 90s. Not that it’s fun for people who have to take a bunch of medications but it’s much better than constantly coming down with infections and knowing any day you may get one that will kill you. Sadly at the time Freddie got it, it was a death sentence.

R Mc Yes, I may make mistakes when I don’t proofread my KZbin comments because after all, it is KZbin. You, on the other hand, should still find your parents and scold them for dropping the ball on your sorry ass and for creating such a perpetual loser. Since KZbin comments are of the utmost importance to your sad sorry ass, perhaps you should have started your sentence of with the correct, ‘It’s a pity.’ It’s comical to see how much Christianity scares these losers!
@speculizer1971
@speculizer1971 6 жыл бұрын
R Mc So, if what you are saying is that Christianity don’t scare you then I am dead on, you are just being a complete asswipe to the OP for their beliefs which has NOTHING to do with you!! You just choose to be an internet badass where you can speak freely and name call people directly to them when we all know you wouldn’t confront someone you don’t know and call them an idiot to their face!!.. Like I said, your parents created a perpetual loser and you should learn by your parents mistakes.. but we all can see that’s not happening. GFY and prepare to accept Allah with your new neighbors.
@speculizer1971
@speculizer1971 6 жыл бұрын
R Mc You can what...? After reading your first sentence, I recommend perhaps instead of worrying about others beliefs you should take a grammar refresher. lol if you thinking that question upsets me makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside like you have accomplished something, so be it...you have already proven my point. I realize losers like yourself have odd ways to make yourselves feel good, or..dare I say, adequate about yourselves. It’s not hard for someone with a few brain cells to realize that, because of the subject, there is a constant turmoil of cognitive dissonance eating at your soul deep within, losers like yourself have to speak up and do your best to personally attack and berate anyone who speaks of their religious beliefs of a God.. well, that is behind a computer screen of course.

Emmotional. The natural warmth, love and humanity of Brian May and Roger Taylor speaks volumes about the content of their character. Their loss and greif for this beautiful person and huge talent is ours too. Then you for uploading this. I highly reccomend the biography on Freiddie Mucurty 'Somebody to Love'. The book gives the reader a candid insight into the boy and man and the life he lead and those close to him and , obviously, the evoultion of his career and diversification of his music. It also gives the reader an informative insight into the evolutionary and biological factors of the illness that killled him and thousands of people around the world. More importantly, it is a moving and emmotional reminder of the beautiful and one off humam being we all lost. I don't believe in god (s ) but I do know his beutiful zest for life, people and the arts lives on. We love and miss you, Freddie Murcury.

I'd like to note here also what a wonderfully special person Brian May must be. Roger and John as well. Brian and Roger seem to be keeping Queen alive when asked. They also make sure information is true to form the best that they can. John is not around physically, but I read that he is still caring, concerned and loving by being involved in protecting the finances and reputation of the men and their music and legacy. Everyone has their own way. If John has difficulty dealing with anything "Queen" in public, it doesn't mean he doesn't still care. But Brian.....wow! I see Brian in all kinds of interviews. His scientific interviews always seem to include someting about Queen and his Queen interviews seem to include a little science. The way he speaks is soft and sweet and caring. He seems to be so incredibly supportive of everything positive about Freddie and his family and his legacy. But he also sets straight anything negative or, especially incorrect about Freddie/Queen in a soft, quiet but matter-of-fact way. And he is still keeping Queen alive. Not by shoving them in your face,, but very a subtle and caring way. From his books to.......The other day I saw a video of him unboxing a new "Queen" theamed Monopoly game. But it wasn't just Monoploy with the names of the properties changed. It was truly a Queen theme. The properties where concert venues. The houses/hotels were blocks to build a stage. Once you had enough blocks, you replaced them with a tiny stage.....like you replaced houses with hitels in the original Monopoly. The money was "Queen cash". The "utilities" were Top or most loved songs. The "chance" cards were roadblocks or achievements they had encountered along the way. Things like......the electricity went out for 15 minutes at a live concert. Pay (some amount.) to get them back it again. Or, your song, Bo Rhrap just went to #1, collect (a certain amount of) Queen cash from each player. I either missed what they replaced the "go to jail" spot with or Brian left it out. Something for us to discover ourselves. Anyway......all this talk and drooling over Freddie, which he certainly deserves. But, I'm realizing that Brian and the others appear to be playing their part as well even after Freddie's death. Especially Brian. What an incredibly special group of men. Truly lifelong friends and supporters of eacthother and of Freddie by carrying on for him and protecting/supporting family and his/their legacy. ❤ ❤

I felt sad watching this 😂😂😂 the mom was soo sweet holding your sons pics . That’s how she missed him, the unconditional love of a mother. The love of your life . If you can just twist destiny, you’ll do it . But it’s already been written. Nothing we can do . God Bless you Jer , wherever you maybe you’re now in a Happy place along with your son Farrouk aka Freddie .🙏🙏🙏
