Because it really hits home that his girl is in an LGBT community and isn't a plaything, and that would intimidate more insecure hetrosexual men. There's a reason this dude buys her an apartment, rather than visit her at her House. It reduces the woman into a glorified doll. Frankly, if you can love a Trans woman then there's no reason to be intimidated. She has family and friends, you have family and friends. So what. And this is from a very hetro guy's perspectives, one who would never use phrases like 'cisgender' or 'questioning'. Just 'heterosexual' and 'Yes, I am /No, I am not'.

@@adamlis9321 there's another way to look at it. Having live in the era (even as a preteen) in which seasons 1 and 2 of Pose take place myself? Stan telling Angel he wanted to see her world of the ballroom was insanely progressive for a white man to say to a Latinx trans woman in the late 1980's. Stan was trying to take a step beyond the 100% plastic life he was just surviving in. The sad part is he couldn't cope with it. Some of it was on him, some of it was poor timing-as he went to the ball on a night where they had a weird, abstract category. Instead of asking questions, he made the mistake of trying to convince Angel she should leave the balls for him. And that's why they broke it off in the end. That was all on him. After all, Stan was hypocritical and selfish in that since he originally had no intention of leaving his wife to be with Angel, yet tried to convince her to leave her harder earned life to be in his world. But if things had have worked out better, the results would've been similar. Angel understood the world she lived in, knew it was the only one that embraced her. Stan would have to have been the one doing the learning and evolving-with Angel being his savior rather than him taking the "white savior" position.
