Indya Moore is a gift to the community. Among some of the amazing things she represents and says in this interview, one of the most prominent is the reminder is that is there is fear in your ability to create content for the community, of the community, about the community then your stimulus and references are not strong enough to be writing that narrative.
@AndreaBeyondBorders5 жыл бұрын
As a cisgender woman, I want to respect Indya’s identity, so please don’t shoot me if I mess up the pronouns here... with that said... While their outward appearance is extremely beautiful, it is their mind and soulful energy that truly makes them stunning and marvelous. And to only be 24! Wow 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I like how she schooled folks on Madonna not discovering the Evangelista House or any house. Even in the song Vogue, Madonna calls out White movie stars when she should have been paying homage to the folks she built her career imitating. I love Madonna, but she did not invent voguing or ballroom culture. Now, strike a Pose...

@stijnslim46705 жыл бұрын
Madonna never pretend she invented Vogue! But in her video the "white movie stars" are "women who loved to "strike a pose", she is not paying homage to them..besides all her dancers for Vogue were black and fem ..........and this in a time when was not popular to be an advocate for the gay community, lets give Madonna a thanks for putting us in the map and being our friend.........but not..lets find the negative, because thats what we gays do.........
@bpmode5 жыл бұрын
@@stijnslim4670 Like I stated, I like Madonna. She was a maverick in the music business and controlled her image and business more than many women ever will. I reaffirm that I don't think she put gays on the map --the Black and Latino gay culture helped put her on the map. Yes, she employed Black, Latino, Asian, and White gay dancers, but so did a lot of folks during that time and now. While I do think she was a public advocate for LGBTQ+ communities, but she did not single-handedly put a whole grouping of folks on the map. If you think my facts are being negative, then I respect your right to think that way. I continue to exercise my right to admire her for being an culture icon, but still state facts.

GO WATCH "PARIS IS BURNING" THOSE WHITE MOVIE STARS AND MODELS ON VOGUE AND THEIR POSES INSPIRED THE DANCERS TO CREATE THE VOGUE DANCING.
@bpmode5 жыл бұрын
@@davem2761 What you state doesn't negate what was being stated: Madonna did not put gays on the map; the culture inspired her AND helped her brand. You literally: PARIS IS BURNING SHOWS THAT THEY WERE INFLUENCED BY WHITE MOVIE STARS. ALL ELSE: OK...and...??? Oh, and I have watched Paris is Burning, all lot of folks have; it's on Netflix and it is a great documentary for anyone who wishes to see it.

I'm a cis white woman but i connect to Pose through being autistic. I don't know what it's like to be POC or trans, but i do know what it's like to exist in a world full of ignorance and misunderstanding about who i am and what my community is. I know what it's like to have the essence of what i am twisted and used as a cultural and medical boogeyman. Just today a friend shared a video talking about how autism is an epidemic, how we're damaged and how our existence is going to bankrupt the economy. I live in a world where, "You don't look autistic" is a devastating line delivered as if it's a compliment. A world where our lack of social skills and self confidence can put us in dangerous situations. From that basis i connected with Pose and was deeply moved by it. I'm late to the party finding this show and through it this incredible young human being. Thank you for speaking with such clarity, being so utterly and unapologetically yourself and shining so brightly in the world.

I love Indya Moore and this interview is everything. She’s making so much sense I don’t even know what it’s like to feel like you can’t love who you love or be the sex you feel like you’re supposed to be. Yet watching Pose I feel like I know all these characters and want to see them all win. I hope this show goes on for a long time. Been watching since the very first episode and I’m so happy a third season has been renewed.

To Indya Moore's ( a beautiful sister) point at 28:13....Hollywood cannot mis-portrait us, if we refuse to take the roles that mis-portrait us! It's a double edged sword. Hollywood will have to stop making certain kinds of films, if there are NO actors to play the roles! I think that we have seen beautiful representations of our people, but we've also seen the other side, which is not always a misrepresentation depending on who's doing the writing. That said, I LOve hearing her talk about the indigenous roots very much.
