She’s awesome! I’ve used the stuff she recommends, and they work great! I always refer to her. My cleaning lady is AWFUL, and I just realized she hasn’t moved even an ottoman in casters and cleaned the floor underneath! I’m going to have to get someone else, or do it myself. I pay her a lot for my house, too, but she’s a friend. 🥲 Anyone know how to get a nubby flat mop head back on the mop? I washed it, and it’s too tight to get back on. I even used pliers!!

I appreciate your videos so much! I just took on cleaning a 9,000 sq ft house and the previous cleaning lady said we have to be on hands and knees to scrub floors because that’s how she’s done it for 8 years... I’m grateful for all the mops you show because I think there’s got to be a smarter way than wrecking my knees 🤷🏼‍♀️

Here's my tip I just taught myself................Swiffer mop and instead of using Swiffer cloths, I substituted microfiber cloths that I buy at Costco. The cloths are a little big, but I think they makes it even better because you get cushion on the sides of the mop head. I use them wet and dry and then throw them in the wash. They clean much better than the "other" cloths. I also use the cloths for dusting and other cleaning. I have a whole bucket of them.

The only drawback to the O'Cedar mop bucket is that when it is full of water, it tips forward (so you have to be careful when you carry it). It seems the design engineers forgot to check where the balance point of the handle is when the bucket has the water weight added to it!

I know right? They don't tell you that in the stores when you buy them. And they are great for steaming up food, gunk and dog slobber or pee. But as a general rule when it comes to hardwood floors, less is more. Less water, less steam, less chemicals. A damp microfiber mop usually does the trick.

Thank you this video was so helpful! Can you use a steam mop on vinyl flooring?
@AskAngelaBrown

It's not recommended because the heat will loosen the glue that sticks the vinyl to the floor. The flooring will eventually start picking up on the edges and turn black in the seams and then trip you when you walk.

Before buying any mop you can check out the specs online. Most stores and online shops have the descriptions and the sizes so you don't make an error when purchasing. That would be my best suggestion so the answer you get is specific to the mop you are considering.

I bought a Wagner steamer because it had a huge piece for removing wallpaper. Attachments loosen stubborn grunge, window glazing putty, floor adhesive. It has a floor mop piece with washable head but you can easily attach the right size microfiber cloths to the clamps. I started out with a Hoover Floormate ten years ago, still going strong except small breaks to plastic pieces. Recently, my husband bought me a Bissel Crosswave floor scrubber. It. Gets. Floors. DRY as it cleans. I have true hardwood floors and it leaves them almost dry. Check your floor warranty for whether it is appropriate to use certain products and cleaners. My steamer took stick on vinyl tiles right up! Can be handy? I LOVE my steamer.

I have the Bissell. 15:26 Can we use it on engineered wood floors?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is generally safe to use a Bissell vacuum on engineered floors, but it's important to take certain precautions to avoid causing damage to the flooring. Firstly, make sure that the Bissell vacuum you are using has adjustable suction settings. Engineered floors are typically more delicate than other flooring materials, so using a vacuum with high suction power could potentially cause scratches or damage. Secondly, make sure that the Bissell vacuum you are using has a soft-bristled brush roll or attachment. Hard-bristled brush rolls can cause scratches or scuff marks on the surface of the flooring, which can be difficult or expensive to repair. Thirdly, before using the Bissell vacuum on your engineered floors, make sure to test it in an inconspicuous area to ensure that it does not cause any damage or leave any marks. If you notice any damage or scratching, stop using the vacuum immediately and consider alternative cleaning methods. In general, it's recommended to use a soft-bristled broom or a microfiber mop to clean engineered floors, as these methods are gentle and effective at removing dirt and debris without causing damage. Regular maintenance, such as sweeping or dry mopping, can also help to prevent scratches or damage to the flooring.

I see stains and marks on them even after I have mopped the floor. In addition do I use Rejuvenate or Murphy's Oil soap, my Mom has always used Future or Pledge for floors, she always puts a little Pine~Sol with a little Dawn washes the floor with that, and then before it completely dries she squirts Pledge Floor Finish.

Thanks for the video. We are building a new home. We are going to have hardwood floors throughout and the main level of the home is about 2600 sqft. We were recommended the Bona system by the wood flooring store. But my concern is that to do the whole main level will get exhausting spray/mop/spray/mop. Also, buying the refill seems like it would be a constant cost. I’m interested in the steam mops. what do you think would be ideal for whole floor mopping? Or should I consider the Mopnado?

If you are vacuuming and dust mopping regularly you may not need to spray and mop as often. The system you describe might be best as a spot treatment and then come up with a regular cleaning routine where you will clean the entire downstairs. Keep me posted on how things go.

So I want to get one that is a wringable microfiber; a sliding mechanism that clears all the dirt out. That way no bucket is needed, you just rinse it over the kitchen sink, slide the mechanism over, and all the dirt goes down the drain. Rubbermaid made one but they discontinued it. Do you have any recommendations for a microfiber wet mop that is wringable?

Yes, Hot water wrung out works just fine. You can also use a pH neutral floor cleaner. One drop of Sal Suds amzn.to/3hrgtLz in a bucket of hot water does wonders - and lasts forever.

I would also recommend the Bissel spin wave. I put my bona liquid cleaner in it and it spins and scrubs. Micro fiber pads go straight into the wash it does a great job on wood floors. Not a fan on tile as it sometimes tends to leave “circle” marks from the scrubbing but on my wood and vinyl floors it is way easier and cleans way better in my opinion, on the wood and vinyl flooring.

Is felt pads good for wood floors and to polish the wood floors? I know it's only a cleaning channel, but what would you recommend to polish wood floors?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 3 жыл бұрын
Your question about felt pads and polishing wood floors makes me wonder if this is for a home or a commercial job. Most homes you won't be using a polisher (a.k.a. burnisher) and polishing pads won't be necessary. If you're mopping a floor, a damp microfiber mop pad should be all you need for hardwood floors. Tell me more about your project.

@@AskAngelaBrown it's more for my home. I love cleaning, but my hardwood floors need a polish. Old 1940s original hardwood floors. Before moving into my new home it was covered in carpet, but I removed the carpet and beautiful wooden floors came out from underneath the carpet. I mopped the floors with your instructions and it still has a little bit of a dull texture with lighting from natural light and regular electric lighting. That's why I asked about the felt pads and if maybe I should also get a polishing machine that isn't too expensive, but excellent for polishing my hardwood floors. I used to own an early 1900s cleaning book and that got lost in my moving. Everything that you have thus shown so far is exactly how that book stated in cleaning. I just want to polish my hardwood floors to get it to luster just a little bit more in the natural light of the day and in the evening with regular electrical lighting. It is just a personal project. Love cleaning and polishing the old ways.

@AskAngelaBrown

Yes, it sounds as if your floor could use a refinishing. Often when flooring is old they either rip it out and install something more modern with a baked in finish, or they go right over the top of it and use that as a base for the new flooring. I'm curious, if your mops are full of splinters - how are you mopping it now?

Hello, What do you recommend for cleaning old pecan wood from 50s? I also have on area that is slippery probably due to salt from ice melt, I think. Thank you kindly,🇺🇸
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
To clean old pecan wood from the 50s, start by dusting it with a soft-bristled brush. Mix a solution of warm water and mild dish soap or wood cleaner, and use a soft sponge or cloth to apply the solution to the wood. For tough stains or buildup, try using a solution of equal parts vinegar and water or a commercial wood cleaner. To remove salt buildup that may be causing a slippery area, mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water, apply it to the area, and rinse with clean water. Finally, protect the wood by applying a coat of wax or polish designed for use on antique or delicate woods. Hope this helps.

I’ve been cleaning homes with my own business for 17 years and I like industrial string mops because you can get more detailed cleaning done with them versus flat mops. I can clean baseboards and other hard to reach areas. Gimmicky products often leave a lot to be desired as opposed to the good old fashioned ways of cleaning IMO.

I just really don’t like using a mop that I have to squeeze dirt into clean water! I have to use them at my two jobs. Of course it makes the floor look shiny but, the dirts still there! When I have my own place, I think I’ll go with one of the microfiber ones cause I know that it will hold onto most of the dirt and can be reused.

It depends on how the mop is used, how often it is used, what it is used for and personal ergonomic preference of the homeowner. A professional might use an 18-inch professional microfiber flat head mop with washable heads, amzn.to/2w7PSzn while a homeowner might use a Libman spin mop for the same area amzn.to/2UcbWRg Things to consider when buying a mop are how tall are you and how long do you need the handle to be? Will you be using the mop in other people's homes? (If yes, you need one with replaceable heads so you don't cross contaminate.
