I did a beauty low buy last year, ended up only replacing items when they ran out and purchased just a few (2) palettes at the end of the year. I have to say that when I was doing it I had to unfollow many accounts on instagram, and when creators talk about new releases I had to skip those videos. I started watching only the tutorials if I like the look of (to see if I could dupe with my collection) and watching chit chat videos (just love Kelly Gooch for those). I left my collection alone and after a while of not seeing anything new I started to noticed I was pulling for just the same handful of items. This made me declutter randomly thru the end of the year. Now I have a small handful of blushes, a few bronzers, a few lipsticks, and a few palettes left. Everything else is down to just one item, and that is because they are my favorite. I have to admit that the drugstore has been calling my name, but I refuse to try anything new until I finish something, but if I don't like it I am allowed to get rid of it (lets be honest, if we don't like it we won't use it, so no matter what it is a waste, but I do rehome the item). You've got this, the first bit will be hard (especially with Natasha Denona releasing blush and Patrick Ta also releasing blush), but remember you have been thru hard things in your past and look at you thriving now! Have a blessed day!!

I’ve been doing the same thing! I decluttered throughout 2024 and only bought something when I ran out. I’ve been replacing items with minis whenever possible, except for mascara (I can use up a full size), and it works really well. The only thing I’ve had to watch out for is overbuying minis. My “collection” mentality kicks in…

Just a tip for those who always find themselves impulse buying. If you’re interested in something put it on a wish list. When you use stuff up then you can go to your wish list and pick one off your list. Allows you to still try new things but use what you have first

Glad to hear it. At the end of 2024 with Ulta and Sephora’s yearend sales and the holiday specials, I reached critical mass. I have a roomful of makeup, drugstore and high-end, but enough is enough. I agree that you reach the point that you have every color, every formula, every dupe, every new product. It has become boring. I want to finish a product before I move on to the newest thing. Plus I’d rather spend the thousands I spend on makeup and fragrances each year on travel or donate to worthwhile groups. Sorry about your break up but feeling content and complete when you are alone is a true sign of maturity and is very liberating. Good luck to you in 2025.

Wow, this is exactly where I am at in life. I just impulse buy makeup and Korean skincare out the ass and I just told my best friend that I seriously should be debt free, and I'm so tired of it. I'm not buying anything else. Starting with this year, it's s about some serious focus on being debt free and saving for my own place instead of renting at these exorbitantly high prices. Good luck to you!! As always, I love your channel.

I did basically a no-buy 2024 - I think I bought 2 new lip-liners, and other than that I only bought replacements of items I used up (think mascara). But I don’t have a YT beauty channel; I feel like finding that balance would be SO difficult. Kudos to you! 🎉

I did a low buy last year. I haven't purchased any new beauty products since May last year. I have enough product in every category to last at least three years, and some categorirs several more than that. This is a full no buy year for me, and that extends beyond beauty stuff

I've found that changing my viewing habit has changed my shopping. Realizing that most (not all) KZbinrs are here to make money. They aren't our friends. If they won't review a palette because they didn't get it in PR, but review and push the ones they did get in PR, that makes me think they don't like the brand as much as they say. If they truly love the brands and the palettes why are they only using the ones they get free? They are good enough for us to buy (using their code of course) but not for them to buy. If a palette is so good, why doesn't it get a dedicated video? 3-6 palettes in one video is great for inspiration, but are we supposed to take them seriously that it's so good and we should use their code to get it so we don't miss out? But it wasn't good enough for them to actually use it. But it's because they get so much... So get less. Show us the palettes you really recommend and like.... but again, they aren't our friends and they are here for views and code usage. That's not bad, but it's true, and I need to remember that. Also, when you ask them to review a palette and the answer is "they didn't send it to me"... that's them telling us that the brand is not worth spending money on. Plain and simple. If the only reason they are pushing purchases and codes is because they got it free, we shouldn't be buying it either. Anyways, sorry for the long rant... but yes I'd love to hear more about low-buys and spending less and being picky. I love seeing reviews, if nothing else, it's inspiration for looks. But for myself, I need to remember to take reviews with a grain of salt. So I'm not saying this because I think KZbinrs are bad... I'm saying this because it's true. They are here to make money. 150 palettes a year gets them views. I need to remember that it's their job to sell to me. They aren't here to "help" us decide, they are here to sell to us. Again, it doesn't make them bad, it just means they are doing their job. Some don't take and use all the PR, and some are smaller so only reviews what they think they'll like, so that's who I subscribe to. Then I'll search a palette I'm interested in and watch the looks being done. *Also and what's worked the best for me... Wait a month. If it's truly good, it'll get reused and still be talked about. If I don't see it and kind of forget about it until a ranking or declutter, I can probably do without. The hype is only for sales. Once everyone has moved on, more than likely it'll just sit on a shelf. But if I'm actively looking for videos and thinking about it after a month, I'll buy it and like it. Sorry for the long rant. TLDR: Yes I'd love to see more content on low-buy, impulse shopping chat, and also reviews. Your channel is one I've been subbed to for a long time and I really feel like you try to balance the fact that it's your job while also being honest and trying to not over consume. KZbinrs similar to you and smaller channels are what I sub to now. Little channels aren't influenced by PR yet lol.

@juliel81242 күн бұрын

@megdvs212 күн бұрын
For me this year the only products I’m actively looking at purchasing right now in beauty is finding the right under eye concealer for me as well as winter foundation and primer for my winter skin other than that gives me the coverage and finish I like with the best longevity I can get and as that all I’m doing this year almost totally is only buying a replacement for a product I use up that I use regularly in what ever season I am in at the time
@xenabobeenaКүн бұрын
For me when I find my holy grail products I just stick to them. Like I’ve literally been using the same type of blush from Milani since high school and never buy different blushes except if I’m trying a new color.
@jeanetteh.9240Күн бұрын
I find that setting out different products helps me to remember to experiment with them, rather than just grabbing what I know will work.
@sage_forensics_2261Күн бұрын
Finding new ways to use what you already have is one idea...maybe using a blush or highlighter as eyeshadow, for example--or using any of those to lighten/deepen/nude out a lip look. Another thing I like to do is to try to shop my stash to recreate looks/trends with what I already have instead of buying all new products. Often, you really only need certain colors or techniques to achieve a desired look. This also encourages me to be more creative which I think is probably good for my brain, LOL! Makeup is "art" you create on your face (canvas), so have fun with it!

Ohhh, I'd love a Project Pan, Angela!!! Your videos of project pan inspired me to do the same and since them, I've been much more conscious about my purchases (my husband loves u for that hahahaha). 2025 for me is gonna be the year of overall consiousness and apreciation: be grateful for what I already have in life, asking myself more if I really want that or if it's just my compulsion behaviour speaking and forcing myself to appreciate more the little things and letting go of what doesn't sparks me joy. ❤

It's something I need to work on as well. I have enough stuff that I don't really need to buy another in most categories. I used to do a thing where if I was still wanting an item and thinking about it after a month then I'd purchase it. Trying to curb those impulse purchases. It also pushes me to spend more time researching products and becoming better informed on an item before purchasing it. Online swatches don't always give the most honest impression of what you can expect. Also, I need to get out of the scarcity mindset that I've fallen into in recent years of feeling like I need to buy an item NOW or otherwise it will disappear. Sometimes that does still happen but most of the time I could have waited for a sale and saved money. Or something similar could have come out during that time that I liked even better/had a better price point.
@natashamansell-eq8ejКүн бұрын
This is so true!! I’ve realised have the reason I fell into impulse buying was because I felt like if I didn’t get things immediately then they would go out of stock and never come back 😅 so silly!!

I started doing this in 2024. I have so much stuff that is beautiful and I love! But I would continue to buy new stuff. Impulse buying is a problem! So I stopped. Not easy! I made a guidelines list, and I follow it. 9 out of 10 times I end up happy that I refrained. I'm not into self abuse! I feel strongly in treating myself. I really was hating that I was being so wasteful. I also learned I was purchasing items that I didn't like for me. I really love shop my stash videos and comparison videos. 💚💜💙

I’ve also put myself on a low buy. I keep a list by month of everything I would have purchased if I weren’t on a low buy with the price. I keep it on a spreadsheet so it adds up the total. This month alone, I saved thousands of dollars. You are so right. In the end, the VAST majority of things on my list, I could care less about a week or two or a month later. I didn’t want to do a no buy because when I do extreme restrictions on myself, I end up binging (yes, it is the same with food). 2025 is my year of practicing moderation. Good luck with your low buy and happy decorating your apartment!

Buying back-ups is a big temptation for me. Once I experienced the disappointment and frustration of learning a product was discontinued, I was never the same! 😟
@danajasek8025Күн бұрын
I would love to see more shop my stash and comparison videos, especially with eyeshadow palettes. I LOVE eyeshadow and am always tempted by new launches - it feels like formulas are continuing to get better and better, especially with shimmers and duochromes and multichromes! I do agree that there are so many new product launches that it is overwhelming, but I do think there is innovation happening, especially with the indie makeup brands. I have a running wish list and am trying to play the long game this year - a lot of items end up going on sale or end up at discounted stores like Marshall's. I also think there is a tendency to buy multiples of new products when you should really should just buy one to ensure you like the formula (and color). For example, if you want to try a new formula, just choose one color (of say, a blush) instead of 3! That strategy has helped me. :)

Angela, I completely understand your feelings of being overwhelmed. As an influencer I’m sure you also feel a lot of pressure to keep up with so much of what’s going on in the beauty industry, and it’s okay to feel burnt out. Especially as you’re still post break up and learning to be you as you want to be. Some thoughts and ideas that you might consider for content might be starting a vlog on what your exercise routines are or if there are certain meals or things you enjoy preparing? If you’re a book girlie, you could turn the previous office space into a book nook spot to just unplug from the world for a bit and cozy up with a good read? Obviously take anything I say with a grain of salt, but do know that no matter what you choose to do, I’m always excited when I see anything you post ❤ love your content!

I love these videos you do like this. I think it’s impeccable timing for one thing. Lots of companies know that people buy when influencers review their products and I can never tell if it’s just to get paid of if they genuinely use them. This is why I love watching your videos, it’s honest and informative as well as being genuine. I think too many influencers lack the courage to actually do right by their audience incase of financial loss. The thing is, the loss only happens when you lose your audience. These videos you make have so much good content and the fact you are real makes them priceless in a too materialistic world. I have an eyeshadow palette problem, I want them all but I am being so very good because I watch your content. This is one of the most intelligent well thought out video done by an influencer I've ever seen. The whole low buy/no buy idea is one I don't see too often and I believe should be something we all think about doing. It just makes no sense having products that will take us years to use up. Most likely, Edie silky if it's skin care it will go bad before we use it. I'm into perfumes, body washes and lotions lately and skin care yonan extent. Again skin care goes bad too quickly and should be used up in two years maximum I believe I heard. Eyeshadows I never get sick of but I have so many palettes. Another are eyeliners I have a lot of them too in so many colors that match my eyeshadows. Let's just say I went nuts trying and buying new things because of subscription boxes. I have one and now my collection of makeup is well beyond what I need. Yes, life is getting expensive and the next four years here in America is uncertain. I'm with you there. This inspired me to think before buying in those categories I have a lot of products already. Best of luck decorating that room you mentioned.

I was on a very strict replacement only no buy for many years, and this year my makeup buying became out of hand. I too am easing up on my purchasing. With each basic category I have the rule of one. One primer, one concealer, one foundation, one setting powder, one finishing powder, one black, and one brown pencil, and one mascara. Same with skin and hair care. I can only buy a replacement if I do not have one on deck to replace what I am using. I am also doing a few panning projects to help me use up my what I have and to help me rotate through my stash.

Most of what I buy doesn't work for me - usually the shade but sometimes the formula. So yeah, lots of regrets and lots of trying to force things to work just because I spent money on them. Anxiety over the state of our nation definitely resonates with me too.

Hi and sorry to be delayed writing this. I had decided not to buy blush because I had a ton of blushes. You talk about loving your cream blushes and I’m the opposite because I like the powder. I’m also going to limit my eyeshadow palettes. Unless brands come out with a very unique formula or something similar, I have so many and I love them all. So I’m going to try to use what I have. Also, best advice I can ever give you is take care of your health (which you really seem to do), and start investing while you’re young. (As in start now if you haven’t already). If you need a firm, we’ve always had good results and relationships with Stifel.

One think to consider, not really for you, but as you age your skin will change, and so must your skincare, so don't buy too far ahead😢😅❤

I'm so with you. 2025 is a low buy use what I have year. I need to learn what I love, what I can count on and what's worth it before I buy more.

You can always have a Sephora associate make you a foundation sample in store. After buying so many of the new Mac Nudes and also realizing how many samples I need to use up, I am also going on a low buy!

What a smart post, I couldn’t agree with you more, Ángela. I’d love for you to recreate looks using so many of the palettes that, just like you, I bought over the past year. That would be amazing! ♥️

I’m trying to use up some base products before buying any new ones. One thing that has been helpful is mixing different products together that maybe I don’t use very much in their own. Like a little high coverage foundation mixed with a skin tint to get a coverage I like. Or mixing to get better color matching, it’s helping to use up some products that have just been sitting.

Such a great commentary and really appreciate your insight into low/no buy mindset. I also don’t wear makeup many days but I love eyeshadow so much! I’m trying to curate my collection to have just one of the basic items in each category, but am allowing myself more latitude with eyeshadow. I have about 3 foundations I need to get through before I will try anymore. I have yet to find my holy grail foundation, but am determined to get through these three first. I do have a holy grail mascara so doing ok there, but would like to try different blush formulas. I have 4 blushes right now (3 powders and 1 cream). I do prefer the powder blush, but I think I’m just old school that way! 😂 I am tempted by some of the liquid blushes/drop formulas and even the sticks, but don’t want to try anything until I get through the ones I have. Thanks for encouraging conscientious buying in all areas. I would also love to see what you do decoration-wise in the other rooms of your place! ❤Plus, your hair came out super cute!! 🥰 Great video! Thanks so much Angela! ~Andrea😊

I been on a no buy for the whole 2024 and will continue..like you said products last for years and life groceries, necessities are becoming expensive. Probably will allow myself like one thing a year like for my birthday 😅 XOXO to roo roo HNY!

The new Natasha Denona blushes have intrigued me so much, but I don't want to get one until I can swatch it. Since they won't be in Sephora until March and I live an hour away from the nearest Sephora, I'll be able to watch review videos to see how they apply and wear. I may very well decide to pass on the blushes by the time I'm able to swatch them.

I’ve heard so much on this topic! I think 2025 Nobuy was even a hash tag a few weeks back. I have committed to a no buy for the year. That includes everything, not just makeup. The only things that come into this house are items that are bought on a regular basis. If something breaks, we’ll try and fix it. If it can’t be fixed then there’s a discussion to be had on whether or not we actually need to replace it. The past 15 years or so have seen an obscene amount of ads just throwing products at the public in the hopes we spend our collective heads off. We have. But in the process corporations got record profits and laughed all the way to the bank while we all sunk into debt. I don’t know about you, but I’m done.

Interesting topic, was missing you online. You were the first influencer" that I watched about 3-4 years ago for ways to apply eyeshadows and eye products but since then I watch 10 - 11 Contact Creators on all 3 platforms where as before I just watched You Tube, but Creators started to post on all 3 platforms and as of today I have to say it consumes a lot of my time. Today I went town in search of a cream blush and found one, then I purchased L'Oreal Big Deal Mascara as I saw 2 Contact Creators use it to see if what the product claims on the PR box were true. I have 3 unopened mascaras now. I did not need it. Also purchased the Nyx lip IV in "Drippen' in Rose" and I love it but I have so many lip products at home, today the decision was made, use what I have already, give them some love. Final purchase today was Naturium Barrier Bounce Advanced Skin Hydration. I live in the desert and wanted more moisture under my makeup besides my serums, and I was almost out my Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid so that was a repurchase. I couldn't afford today's purchases and I am a little upset about it, cuz I like you don't wear makeup everyday but I thought I would do it for myself and my husband likes it when I wear makeup. My husband place of employment on the strip closed to make way for the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. He landed another job and it's Union but to start out they are on an on call basis. We cannot live on that. We went through the severance pay the Mirage gave their employees ( in years worked there) My husband was at the Aladdin when it opened, then it became Planet Hollywood for 16 years but he wanted to transfer from a Caesar Entertainment to MGM, so he transferred to the Mirage not knowing they sell out. I was also diagnosed with right breast cancer and 2024 was a blur, but today I had labs which are free but specialty doctors copays are $40 and I just saw my surgeon now my Oncologist is next. Then follow bilateral Ultrasounds and Mammograms in June and December plus labs and probably a Dexascan so I feel really guilty cuz I spent money I should have saved. I am definitely in a no buy again this year, I have enough makeup to last me a lifetime. I am glad to hear you rationalize your low buy this year and why. I definitely understand. Getting your apartment together is a pretty neat thing and joining a choir too. Whatever contact you put in I am hanging in there with you. You could do an "around the home" video. Vlog you workouts, walks with Roo. It will come to you I know it. I love watching Kelly Gooch too, she's so cool. You have had a major life change that you didn't for see, so you on the right path and you making good decisions and you have a loving family your mom is the best.🤗💋🐾🐾💪💪🏘️🏘️♀️👍✔️❗

I would love to see more Shop My Stash Videos. BTW, I do the same thing. I always think before I buy. If it's not going to kill me because I don't have it, It doesn't have to be. It usually takes me at least a year before wanting to buy a new product when influencers talk about it. I buy my own beauty products and makeup so, I think about it, make a wish list list as well, and consider it. I usually have something in my stack that I'm pretty pleased with, so I just use it for a while. I love makeup, but I like using up what I have. Even though I work as a Nurse aide and don't get to wear makeup that much when I do, I don't use it that much, and I find myself always going to the same things. I'm saving money these days because I really want something for myself while I'm single: a house!! So I agree with you!! LOL!! I have lots of conversations with myself, Do I really need that? I have something similar already, why do I need it right now? you know!! I feel no pressure to impulse buy because influencers recommend it. It takes me a long while before I do. But I also look at how your technique is and that makes it better. Its the person behind the brish and makeup that really stands out!

Also on the Low Buy Train this year and would love to see some “duping the vibes” of new releases (if you don’t actually review them) so we can shop our own collections to achieve a similar-if not the same-look. ❤

My problem is buying multiple backups, and then I discover something better. Rather than using the backups first, I switch to the new discovery and then never want to use the backups of the old.

Congratulations to your video and to your decisions. I can relate I have too many pieces of eyeshadow palettes, blushes, mascaras, kbeauty cosmetics... It's too easy to order online and being 65 the collection will probably last me till my end. No joking. Thank you for your contribution to a conscious consumption

I'm in "a low buy year" since 2 years ago😂😂😂... At the end of the year, I've finally bought more that I thought at the beginning...but much less than if weren't in a low buy year.... Now I don't buy foundations, powders, blushes or highlighters bc I want to end up those I already own... Make up expires.... so if we don't use it, it's a waste of money. Love from Spain❤❤

Me too , after years I finally bought eyeshadow palettes again. I NEED to stop. I went overboard. ND Golden, ND My dream, ABH Nouveau, and Dose of colors baked browns. I still NEED ND I need a nude, and Glossier trio in prairie. I can't even use the gray-ish mattes in I need a nude ... But I want it so bad lol. I can't stop myself lol. The last time I bought an eyeshadow palette was ....idk 2018/2019. I have been using them though :).
