Angelica I will bet it was an honor and a very cool thing to have Daimler invite you to check out and drive the electric truck Driving an electric truck was a real different experience for you from a regular gas/diesel version Very cool to see you driving it out on the test track and I did notice it was a lot quieter drive. That Frigoblock refrigeration unit I would imaging that was powered off of the trucks batteries. I also saw the different side view mirrors inside the truck running off of cameras outside, probably for aero reasons and for a quieter drive too without the wind noise from hitting the outside mirrors. You could very well be the next spokesperson for selling electric trucks, but you love your day job very much and I do not think that will happen anytime soon. Indeed the battery range is very short, but for city use it is perfect. Each battery generation the charge is getting better range and distance out of the batteries. Very cool seeing you doing this in this video with maybe more of these in the future. 👍 For a great video and keep them coming when you can.

You can't get the depth/3D as mirrors. While moving your head a little you get a different view with mirrors....not so with camera. In darkness/low sun light into the camera/ fog/cold moist/snowy weather is it useless. There are nothing for the camera to focus on and you just see a lot of pixels on a screen. Not everything new is better....

Cooling system is for both cooling and heating the battery pack, not the electric engine. If the battery pack gets too hot the power will be reduced to protect the battery, and if the battery pack gets too cold it reduces battery capacity plus you are not able to charge as fast as if the temperature is good. Teslas and more or less all other electric cars has a cooling system to keep the battery pack temperature under control.
@mechadrake3 жыл бұрын
probably for several loops of thermal control. teslas have several also. Powerful motors need cooling too, battery needs thermal control (up and down, they do not like being cold or hot) and the cabin heater needs to steal heat from one of those, or it often is electric, and the cabin ac must have somewhere to dump heat.

I will add that my grandfather (who died about 1920, before I was born) had a bakery business in NYC and had several Baker electric trucks. There were no diesel trucks then, and gas trucks and the gas at that time were not a good idea with baked goods unless you like the smell of gas on your bread and cakes. These used the battery tech of the time, flooded lead acid cells, and were charge up overnight for morning deliveries. Range was quite limited but Brooklyn was small and they served their purpose, traffic also moved very slow so they were right at home. They were cheaper to operate than the alternative, horses. I might add that after he died the new owners retained those trucks thru the depression and WW2 where they came in handy since gasoline was scarce. I remember seeing them as a young boy during and shortly after the war years. This truck looks ready for market, when will they be for sale and how does the price compare with a diesel truck? You sure make a good spokesman (spokeswoman??) for this product, even if I wasn't interested in trucks you're nice to look at.

Not bad Angelica. Glad you got to go do some more cool stuff. I saw the video of your other truck test. The one with the snowmobile. Fun stuff! The electric vehicles are super quiet. That’s good they have a beeper. I’m pretty partial to diesel, but these will be coming soon enough. Haven’t seen many in the US yet. Thanks for the details on it. Charge time is pretty quick, and the range seems pretty good. I would suppose they have really good torque for pulling. I’ll look up the specs. I wonder how it’d be under load and snow like at lastbillsstation. I like that truck combination. Plus your backing skills with those are really good But I love your hook truck that you can switch the beds out on. Your winter truck you ran last year. For a daily delivery truck, batteries are fine, but still think hydrogen is the way forward for heavy haulage. I quite like the screen mirror replacement system - easier to see in the rain and doesn't get dirty quickly in winter. Stay safe and see you on the next one.👍
@MrDriftspirit Жыл бұрын
Hydrogen has a lot of advantages in comparison with electric drive, but one huge disadvantage. A fuel cell needs absolutely clean air. To achievethis, there is a huge need of short interval maintnance and more expensive costs in daily use than electric drive. I prefer hydrogen, cause it can be produced in daytimes when there is not that power need in society or it can be produced in a seperate " island" circle wirh its own power suply bye wind and sun that those dangerous aplitudes in the power net were not forced.

Where i drive it gets as cold as -50c and these electric trucks won't be able to stand up to that 😒 but they look nice though. Interesting video. For me who has no knowledge on trucks, this E-truck seem to have low range but as you said in the video it can work well within the city. The batteries add 3 ton on weight but maybe this is compensated by no longer needing a heavy? diesel engine and it should not impact loading capacity. If this e-truck can be the answer for within the city, specially with possible need to charge it, i'm not sure. Lets hope so however, it should be removing some of the air pollution in large cities. Hi Angelica. I’m just about to start my career in truck driving, really inspired by your videos. If there was one bit of advice you could give a woman who’s just starting out, what would it be? ☺️💕
You will have to be twice as good as the male drivers for them to consider you half as good as them. You will be watched wherever you go. I don't know why, and I wonder what their wives would think if they knew. Sorry, but it's true - well, it has been in my 25 years experience in the UK, but then again, we in the UK are still living in the dark ages compared with most of Europe.

I was wondering how electric trucks perform. Mercedes knew who would best present their work 😁💜 Stay safe 🙂

Great video Angelica. Electric vehicles might be Okay until you start having problems with the power source. Imagine being in a lighting storm and it gets struck by lightning and everything catches on fire. Take care and have a blessed day and I'll see you on your next video.

All trucks built in the last 5 years are so loaded with electronics that they depend on for operation that they too would be dead on the road. (and a fuel fire is as hot as a battery fire)
