Or how about the tens of thousands of Burmese running from their own junta government, the last 2 years in particular, but a conflict that's been going on for decades, the longest in SE Asia, with a government bent on ethnic persecution? It's not just the Muslim minorities originally from the West but also the other aborigines in the eastern parts bordering Laos, Thailand, and China, natives to that region that the Burmese government & the majority Burmese group sidelined for decades UNTIL they themselves, as the majority ethnic, became the targets of their own junta government, Burmese majority who are now running into the mountains dominated by ethnic minorities... for protection and for training, so they could fight back... but fight back without guns and missiles like what the West's giving to the Ukrainians? The human race WILL have to come to some better population and resource and political management than what we've been doing since the last 10,000 years, when large urban areas and towns and cities started going up. At this rate of barbarity, from the heart of Europe, to every corner of the world.... just can't sustain itself.... Westerners cannot be lazing and lying around comfortably in their air conditioned homes & offices --- needing massive fossils from other parts of the world to maintain--- and pretend that's the real world... and just pray and wish everyone could be and should be living as they are...

I´m sorry, but 3 Million fleeing in 3 weeks is a different quality of a crisis, as harrowing as everything going on in Yemen is. I helped during the Syrian refugee influx in Germany, and I am helping now, the numbers are just different with this crisis. Yemen is a civil war with outside forces intervening. Ukraine is a conventional interstate war, which is of different quality in the matter of the mass of weapons used (the combined firepower Russia used in the just 3 weeks is more than Assad ever had in Syria in all the 11 years there).

I don´t know about you, but when the civil war (which is something different from a conventional interstate war) in Yemen started, it was all over the news for at least two weeks in my country, Germany. The most urgent stories dominate, that´s just how it is. Only way to do the victims justice.

Its all about distance, not only in the sense of kilometers, but also cultural. The nearby areas of the countries in conflicts are worried about things near them, again, both distance and cultural similarities. With Ukraine, as said in the video, people that consume the same media as you do, see themselves in the faces of the refugees. Therefore much more focus on Ukraine. As the old saying goes "Birds of a feather, flock together". It has always been like this, always will be. You tend to trust and sympathise with people that resemble people you know, it's hardcoded into us, from nature.

It hurts, and it will not happen without a struggle, but it is irreversible. This is the path of our evolution toward the purpose of our creation-to encompass within us all of creation. To do that, we must come to care for it, just as a mother encompasses her child through her maternal love. The struggle to transition from our current uncaring and mean approach to all creations but ourselves, into wise and compassionate beings is called “the war of Gog and Magog” or Armageddon. Since the war is about our inner makeup, we can fight it within us. If we object to struggling with ourselves over who will rule-the ego or love-the physical reality will force us to choose love nonetheless. However, it will do so by hurting us in a very physical way. The war in Eastern Europe is nothing compared to what we might have to endure if we resist the process. People who now care about what is happening to Ukrainians care and have always cared for those who suffer in other parts of the world. It is easier and more simple to help someone who crosses your border than someone who is displaced thousands of miles away. It is really disappointing to see how celebrities and the media use this race card in a situation like this instead of trying to bring people together. I was told yesterday that I care for Ukrainians only because they are white and look like me. REALLY??? Does everyone know if I have donated or volunteered when the Syrians arrived to Europe? Beauty is often dismissed, in discourse, of having no substantial value. But, in real-life, beauty is important to us all. It's subtle .. But, the images coming out of Ukraine are a lesson learned in the middle-east Arab people are just as beautiful as any other race .. yet, the images out of Iraq & Afghanistan were of some of the ugliest people in those Countries. I know my words are harsh, and I apologize But, if you want people to invest in other people: Show them images of beautiful people And THAT is what has been done SO successfully in Ukraine. Good Photo Journalists are invaluable in these times.
