It was a very emotional time for the audience and Angelina (and the band). Before she started to sing this tears had been rolling down her face - what she calls happy tears - but no matter in this song she says - "it's as though he's in my tears" (her grandpa that is). The heart felt call at the end took us all by surprise (and the band) - for sure that her grandpa would have heard that!

Sounds like she was all world for every song and every concert. The best way to tell is that they all sound great, but a few of them have professional audio, plugged into the audio maybe. By comparing cellphone, fan shot vids with those you gain a picture, because with I have nothing there is both fan shot videos and the pro shot, same exact performance and the difference is immense. So when all the fan shot vids sounds approximately equally great, some much better, we can assume the entire month pretty much was as good as the pro vids of Bohemian Rhapsody, I have nothing, Million Miles and 7th Heaven. Just wish we had that, sound with less distortion, cleaner sound, on all of them. Especially fan favorites and surprises like Mount Everest. You nailed it though, a real live singer already, even with her rather complex vocals she chooses to do. We'll get plenty of great live audio going forward, and what we don't get, well we'll just have to pay to go see her live right, like we always wanted.

Yes, the run---a place of freedom for the vocalist to change from performance to performance while still keeping the beat. This was slowed down, which allowed her to make that spot longer. In the later part of the video on the lower right you see a small boy with a white brimmed hat being held by a man with a blue baseball cap. That is Egil Claussen (Angelina's Norwegian guitarist who played for her in so many of her performances from 8 to 12 years old) and his son. In some of the other songs from this concert you see Angelina's mom, Sara, with that boy and sometimes also Egil with his daughter. I was happy to see Egil there enjoying the concert. Angelina recently said that she and Egil will perform together again at some point.

I never really felt the shy part…. It’s fine to not agree right? I more had the impression of her being very deliberate and careful in her answers and not going into banter and silliness (even where it is perfectly fine). With interviews at any age I saw her being at ease, looking at the other and giving clear answers. But yes it is very nice to see her talk to the audience like this and talk a little about the message of her songs: she is certainly growing in that respect as well. Anyway back to what is important, yes her timbre is incredible. She is good at making me hear the story and making me feel it. I imagine I can hear the tears on her voice in this case even though she is smiling. Yeah I love artists as well who can outperform their studio recordings. Studio recordings at times miss the rawness that come with live performances. You might want to make an Angelina playlist to listen to when you need a bit of comforting or had a bad day. It’s a such a good remedy and good way to feel better and smile.

(Sorry you found Angelina’s fluctuation belt to be only ‘less annoying’.) That majestic belt that keeps getting longer-and-longer with each new live performance, feels to me like a moment when she feels connected to her grandfather, so she wants it to go on-and-on-and-on for as long as she is capable, to keep that connection open.
@dojoswitzer2 жыл бұрын
@Concerned Citizen Thanks for your feedback. He first said, “Throw in the towel.” which means, you win! But then he referred to Christine Aguilera, and I believe he expressed a preceding bias against the fluctuating belt in general because of Christine. It was funny to compare something he disliked to something he liked a lot, and then kind of retract his previous praise. My reason for placing the comment in parentheses was to kind of soften it, as if a finger poking side note.

When talking of great vibrato you have to put Ella at the top. Unfortunately her studio recordings were without her adlib vocals. Live she could still wow you, when I saw her with Count Basie in the early 80s. Basie died shortly after the concert I heard in Sunrise Fla. Hear what she really could do, listen to her album Ella in Berlin. You'll want to wear 2 pair of socks. They'll both get knocked off. There's a lot more Ella in Angelina's vocals than gets noticed.

as a musician (cello, piano, guitar) but not a singer, in the opening I was just wondering at how much she's playing with her voice and if that actually puts some off. Like if you're really into jazz and are exploring the fringes of even what is music (music being "organised sound"), someone else not on that journey will struggle to listen to what you're listening to. Or like bleeding edge Drum n Bass to someone who just likes some drum and bass now and again, it's actually hard to hear. So I was thinking is she losing me a little with the style of this, too much fry, too wide a vibrato, and then I wondered if the singers...being further along into the skill of singing and the instrument of the voice....wondered if they are getting even more out of it than, for example, what I get from Bohemian Rhapsody? And then you stopped it and confirmed this with your first comment ! 🙂
