That in their remaining years they would never attend anymore live concerts. But everything changed when Angelina came into their lives. It's like she brought back the time when our old guys are still young. I think in so many ways she gave them a new life to live...to live longer to be able to see her on top of the world... I'm 79. Met a lot of die hard guardians older men and WOMEN from all over the world before and after the legendary Sandefjord concert in Norway the 10th of july last summer. It was fun. I had never been at a concert since the 60th. It was crazy fun and a memory for the rest of my life. She is our daughter even if I already have a beloved one.

You make two interesting points about Angelina Jordan's audience. On the one hand, having become a beautiful young woman, it could be that some of the middle-aged men who are part of her public are not insensitive to her young femininity; on the other hand, we can think that, what attracts them to her, is that she has allowed them to reconnect with their youth, that time when the voice took precedence over the sight, the song over the show. In fact, what seems to me to have struck this generation is to have found in this young child with a miraculous voice the time of Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Diana Washington, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack, Etta James and many others.

Very well thought out reaction! Yes this is crazy! Angelina is on fire at these concerts last July. The band members, well three of them, have worked with Angelina over the years. I was lucky enough to be able to talk with them after the final concert at Kurbadhagen. I congratulated them on their awesome music, commenting on how they work together so well. The response was that they just follow where Angelina takes them. They were shocked by the now confident person, back in the day Angelina was very shy, the guitarist had to introduce all the songs, the vocals were amazing back then, now, it's matched by her stage presence and interaction with the audience. Yes, there many older fans, not all men I must say, where the general feeling is that Angelina is thought of as being a daughter or grand daughter, being proud of her achievements and looking forward to her having a solid career in the music industry. There is also a growing number of younger supporters, especially as she now incorporates more modern songs. Her album is expected to be released in the fall, then I hope that her fan base grows and includes a much greater proportion of younger people. Thank you Nick for introducing Angelina to your subscribers, I think everyone can see that you can see the level of talent here, at 17 she has only just begun to blossom, I hope you will continue to follow her meteoric rise...

Les, the band is very good and a good match with Angelina. I have seen them 2 times since the concert in Sandefjord, they are one of the best Jazz band here in Norway. The regular drummer did not play last summer, however the stand-in did a very good job. I really hope to see them and Angelina in the years to come, even if she makes it great in the US.

I remember a discussion about why there were more older people at this concert. I am 60 my self. Most of the people at these concerts came from all around the world. I was so much wishing I was their too. It might only have been the older people that could afford to pay to go to Angelina's concerts this time. It might also have been the last chance to see Angelina's concerts in a more personal way,with Angelina. A large number of people at these concerts also had been communicating with each other and had never met in person. So this was a very personal time For Angelina's Angels meeting up for the first time. Angelina was also so happy at these concerts too. If you change his costumes, you put together a choreography and put a dozen dancers on him, you will get hundreds of stadiums full of fervent young people singing his songs. I’m an old man and I was introduced to Angelina by searching for songs like “I Put a Spell on You”, “Crazy”, and songs in Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, and Ella Fitzgerald catalog, so I kept running into her, and then when she was on AGT the Champions and became more mainstream in the US she became unavoidable. But yes, she was always singing a song that had been in my favorites category for a long time, because I’m a child of the ‘60.

She does have alot of grown women too. You'll see she does have young children/teenagers too, just not as many as tne older people who've been around and seen and heard great music and singers etc. They know a special person when they see/hear them. With regard to the age of the audience here, the front rows were packed with people who grew up on old time jazz and thought they’d never hear it sung live again - until Angelina came along and gave them so, so much happiness! She’s working with RedOne at the moment, he’s saying they’re making great music together, so she is aiming at a younger audience soon! It will be very interesting to find out where she’s heading. She is 16 in this concert, 17 now. The effect of watching Angelina grow up.....creates a sense of investment in her well being and success, almost familial pride in her accomplishments. I think that's why her fans are so protective and fiercely loyal. Jazz concerts do attract more musically knowledgeable jazz fans. Also there are more jazz musicians are men than women. Don't know why that should be but it is so. Also the ALSANG PA GRENSEN concert has alot younger mixed audience from children up. That concert you could recognise young adults that were in the audience in earlier concerts as children.

Yes Angelina seems to have an older fan base including myself. I think it’s probably because of the style of music that she started with and maybe since she started so young a lot see her as a daughter or granddaughter. I think we all realize however, as I’m sure she and record company do too, that to have a long successful career she will need to also appeal to a younger crowd. Not teeny boppers but those in their 20s and maybe late teens who are past the teen idol years. It will be interesting to see how her upcoming album is received and if she can expend her audience. We are all hoping that this album will be the beginning of her stardom.

Yes, we are an older crowd following Angelina Jordan, Good observation. We, older men and women, remember going out to Jazz clubs back in the Day. Angelina has that Jazzy voice that great jazz singers like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald are known for their purity of tone, phrasing, and improvisational ability. I genuinely believe Angelina channels the great Ladies went she sings their songs. Once in a generation, a singer comes along with that unique sound that captures the attention of the younger people and introduces them to a new type of music. Yeah Angelina is so good live and this is just recorded with a smartphone it seems. I can’t wait for her single (April) and album (Fall) to be released. Apparently she will be touring as well and with such performances I can’t wait to see her live either. I think she makes the music she loves and finds relevant and it attracts a certain crowd. That might change with her album and the promotion campaign that will be unleashed.

She was more-or-less born a mature performer ! :) With regard to the age of the audience: the videos are a bit misleading I think as what you see most of are the front rows, which were packed with those who had come a long way to see her... and that selected for fans who could afford to fly thousands of miles for a concert ! When the camera showed rows further back you saw plenty of younger fans (of any gender !) :) The style of music may be a factor but I think cost and being able to afford that cost is the main one.

There was some concern in the fangroups about the age distribution, too. But other fans provided age statistics from their AJ related channels, which do not show the same imbalance. I suppose its Norway after all, meaning its far off and flights and hotels are quite expensive. Older guys probably tend to be more likely to have the budget and be willing to do longer trips for a concert.

It’s concerning to me that it has become the norm to infer nefarious behaviors or motives on a group of people without any facts or even substance. I think it’s quite natural that she has an older fan base. She chose classic songs to sing because she has the ability to sing them and they challenge her growth as an artist. Listening to her remake a classic hit song that you’re already familiar with and absolutely own the song immediately captivated me. After listening to covers of numerous sensational, legendary songs done by Angelina and realizing that I like them better by her, how can she not be the best singer I’ve heard in my lifetime? And then I realize the emotion she sings with while displaying the empathy, humility, and humanity of who she is as a person how can I not feel overwhelmed by the Angelina Jordan experience. I can tell that her fan base is getting younger by the age of the people reacting to her. I believe she’s going to dominate the industry long after all us virtual grandparents have passed on. 😚

Sorry but I disagree, she is not a true jazz Singer. She sings jazz song but she doesn't know how to style vocally like jazz singers do. First of all she doesn't have that fast quick jazz vibrato, doesn't make guttural sounds and doesn't know how to reshape and modify her vowels like real jazz singers do. She definitely doesn't use any jazz expressions and I don't mean just singing words, jazz singing is about mixing gutteral sounds with words. Once again she's not even close to being a bonafide jazz Singer
