A lot of you guys focused on the little technical issue they felt on one performance here, but why not focus on all the praise that they said about AJ... They even felt sorry for the other contestants... And yes, Angelina is a prodigy and a future superstar IMO ❤️

Agreed. I like you guys. I think you clearly acknowledged and appreciated what little Angelina was doing in these auditions. Some of her supporters can be a bit overprotective when they feel she is being criticized, so you got a little bit beat up in the comments. Don't take it personally. I have an old pair of earbuds and can see what you mean about the sound being a bit "reverby" on I'm a fool to want you. That goes away if I listen through my regular laptop speakers. Maybe give it another listen (this time from the full video with subtitles and judge comments). Perhaps I can shed a little light on your second comment/query about the "in and out" sound on Bang Bang as well. The guitar was using an effect called tremolo. It does exactly what you describe. It electronically raises and lowers the volume of the sound at a rate that the guitarist can adjust. It sounds like, to your ears anyway, the guitar part was a little bit high in the mix. This is also less apparent listening though plain old laptop speakers- i.e. the guitar part is not as loud relative to her voice. This effect has been around for quite a while and is used in a bunch of music to great effect. Check it out here in Otis Redding's A Change is Gonna Come kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6rLfWOfpLiHlbc Looking forward to your next AJ reaction! I don't think you guys have seen her do Fly me to the moon yet. It's kind of a thing for her...

I think that it has been obvious from earlier videos that these two like Angelina and appreciate what she has done and how Angelina connects with her audience but for myself it felt like they kinda sucked the life out of their own reaction video by going on and on about a few things they did not like production wise, unfortunately for viewers and themselves. I hope they continue because A.J. has so much incredible material to experience.

Totally agree. They obviously love and appreciate Angelina. Just seeing Taylor's reaction to Angelina's first word of the "Summertime" performance is enough for me to know she's a genuine fan. Boy you were really off on the second song ! That was a vocal masterpiece ,! Acapella , just her pure voice , no added background music , 7 years old, your competition standing behind you with the judges in front and to sing with perfect pitch is unbelievable ! Every vocal coach and vocal expert who reacted to this performance was blowiin away and said they have never heard such clarity and vocal dynamics from a girl this age ! It was outstanding ! But I understand it's all personal and subjective when listening to a reaction ! I doubt many professional singers could deliver this as well ! Vocal genius is in Angelina's DNA ! These performances by AJ took on a whole new dimension to young singers when Angelina sang classic iconic songs from the 50's and 60's ! Something I doubt will happen again ! She delivered flawless performances on all the songs ! The most important and heartwarming thing was that Angelina donated the winnings to children's charities ! That's who she is a sincere, compassionate and loving beautiful soul and the word LOVE is what she brings to her audiences when she sings ! Thank you both for being great supporters of Angelina and I hope you continue your journey it is so much appreciated ! 👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️

From what I understand, in that round the contestants would have to play their own instrument, not have someone play along with them. That’s why a couple are seen with a guitar. At that age Angelina probably wasn’t efficient enough on an instrument to accompany herself.

You wish you could have watched these performances on TV? You just watched both Bang Band, and Summertime on a TV show, and the sound and picture were top notch. Do you have an implant to improve your hearing? If so, you need it to be adjusted because the lady next to you loved the sound, and she stated that. If you are having a hearing issue you are missing out on the genius of AJ. I am 76, and I wear hearing aids, but I take them off and use Sony hi end headphones when I listen to music. Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZbin before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ♥👣👸🏻🎷

I think you guys made a good call to do all 4 NGT performances together. Here you see her singing debut to the public at 7 years old, with baby teeth missing and adult teeth just coming in. In spite of her inexperience, youth, and dental situation, she takes 4 jazz songs and simply wows the judges and the audience. Yeah, she's cute but thats not what earned her the win here. We get to see what a 1 in a billion, natural born talent sounds like just as she is getting control of her instrument. It is the tone, the texture, yes the vibrato as you mention, but also her sense of timing and phrasing. Extraordinary when you consider that she is 7 at the beginning, turning 8 by the last performance; a first grader...

Fortunately for us, her entire vocal progression from here until 17 is on video (and even earlier) - a master class in vocal growth and sophistication. She also has one of the best vibratos in the business. It is also a shame that you don't seem to know the originals of these classics because knowing them only adds to one's appreciation of what this CHILD is doing.😎

As Angelina continues to sing through the years, she purchases (family birthday gift) a very sensitive mic at age 12. I believe this is because she is disappointed with recording devices that lose the fine details she applies to her singing (vocal fry, rasp, whisper, vibrato, etc). In later tears, the professional recordings all leave in her breathing (when post production often removes it for other singers to create a cleaner sound) and she seems to make the sound of her inhaling a part of the composition, maybe even inhaling on specific pitch.

Thank you for your time reacting to Angelina. It's always best to watch each performance individually and with English sub titles if available. The 1st was her audition at age 7 "Gloomy Sunday". 2nd one was the Judges cut, were the judges can't say anything but write notes for later. Plus Angie did something very difficult to do and that was a capella & it will expose a singers imperfections right away & she had none. She was pitch perfect, her timing was spot on, her vibrato was beyond amazing and unique to her etc etc and all as a 7-8 yr old. 3rd one she was 8 now "Bang Bang" semi finals, was originally by Sonny and Cher but made famous by Nancy Sinatra, also the theme to Kill Bill. 4th the finals was George Gershwin's "Summertime". Which Angelina has done several times and all different like all she sings. These performances garnered attention from the biggest names in the business. She won by 46% of the votes. She is also at this time the youngest to win a got Talent show. React to her cover Diane Washington's song "What a difference a day makes" at 8 in outside concert. What you haven't seen is the interview with her mother after the win. She is not a stage mother. You can almost see the cogs whirling. She is obviously thinking that she was going to have to recalibrate everything. They donate alot of the winnings to children's charities. They focused on giving Angelina as normal childhood as possible. Only allowing performances in school holidays to satisfy Angelina who has always been the driving force and ambition and her parents applying just enough brakes. Her grandma was a child prodigy poet and painter. I think that gave the family insight how to Foster and guard Talent. They turned down Disney. Selecting a careful selective approach whilst fulfilling their contractual obligations to the show. I think when her mother watches the monitor on her audition that look is the realisation that nothing is ever going to be the same...and I do not think that thought was welcome given her guarded post win interview.

It’s the fact that she knew Farsi at that age which would be more unusual. I assume she learned this from her Iranian grandmother and during the time she and her family apparently lived in the Middle East. Glad to have you back after your surgery. Angelina turned 8 during the filming of this show. I like this compilation because it dramatizes the incredible growth she experienced as an artist within a single year. It's breathtaking. When singing I'm A Fool To Want You, Angelina makes use of the proximity effect that deepens and enhances lower frequencies the closer one gets to the mic. You may not be aware of this technique because it's seldom used in video commentary or broadcasting. Breathing and other mouth sounds are also more audible, too. They can be just as much a part of a vocal performance as sung notes; think Michael Jackson's sharp inhalations. Perhaps they're not to your taste. The effect on the guitar in Bang Bang is called tremolo, where the volume of the note varies rhythmically. It was a staple of '60s surf music, but became associated with the American West through Ennio Morricone's stylish soundtrack to the Clint Eastwood film The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. Angelina's guitarist is using it here to evoke the mythic Western gunfight scene. It's a stunning arrangement that, once again, simply may not be to your taste, although the judges and the entire Norwegian audience felt differently. The vocal effect you mentioned, where Angelina varies the pitch of a note in a rapid, rhythmic, and controlled manner, is called vibrato. Angelina's ability to use it at will is insane for her age. Many adult singers never learn to use it. When singing Summertime, Angelina is deliberately using a more pronounced vibrato, which is a recognized vocal effect heard in many styles. Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden has a very wide vibrato sound. You also hear that kind of vibrato in classical settings. To hear an 8-year-old intentionally use it is pretty special.

I'm a New subscriber (For Angelina Jordan!) and I'm very glad you are continuing to look into more of her catalog! Yes, Vibrato is the term for the wavering notes. It is a technique which is rare in pop music but practically required for Jazz! As for the perceived failures in recording quality, I wish you had more clearly differentiated those Technical/Mechanical quibbles from the Quality of Angelina's Vocal . Angelina Had no control over the recording technicalities, only over her Vocal Performance, Also as you dig deeper you will find many "Home-made" recordings which may not live up to a demand for "Studio Quality", but capture a practice session or a Karaoke tryout of a song recorded on the cheap for her fans on KZbin. These allowed her to meet and satisfy her fans without "selling her soul" to the Big Record Companies . So, in almost all cases, there is No "pitch correction" and no "Autotune"...just the Honesty of her Natural Vocals! That is very rare and under appreciated!

1st song is Billie Holiday, 2nd song Billie Holiday, 3rd song Nancy Sinatra, 4th song Ella Fitzgerald. All note for note. The guitar tone was Tremolo, the wavering of her voice is called vibrato. Great job guys.

Pro and con on your reaction. I thoroughly enjoy you two and your genuine approach. On the other hand, your critique of her second performance and of the guitar issue in her third performance were baffling. I have been a fan for 5 years and have been following her. I have listened to literally hundreds of reactions to these performances. Yours is the only channel of all of these hundreds that has ever made comments about technical issues. Almost everyone uses headphones. It tells me that there is not an issue with the performances but perhaps something with your equipment. Perhaps your headphones or amplifiers etc are overly sensitive. I don't doubt that you heard things, but the fact that they were significant for you is just not something that has ever come up before. If this were a true problem in listening, I would have heard it many dozens of times before and that is not the case. As far as more information and subtitles, if you would listen to each individual video separately you would hear the judges comments and you would have subtitles. It is only the compilation that eliminates these things.

Thanks for the critique I really appreciate a informative comment than a hate comment from overly protective fans. My equipment or headphones could be overly sensitive as they are professional grade in ear monitors (IEM). Primarily used for musicians to hear a metrodome or backing tracks while live. The criticism I had was not towards Angelina herself because she was fabulous rather my personal listening experience. I couldn't not talk about it because it was so apparent to me.

@@Killermcknight Fully understood and I think that would explain it. If you are also confident it is an issue that is specific to your experience and equipment, personally, I would just leave that out of the discussion. There have been a couple of performances where there have been issues with the sound of the backing track. It was annoying to many and was mentioned in reactions. That goes far beyond the reactors equipment. But even there, it didn't take away from the artists talent. I think If you truly appreciate your featured artist, as I know you do Angelina, focusing on the positive will bring you better results for your channel, and I am a strong advocate for channels like yours. Please check out my other comment that I left for you. Your opinion is important, and if there is something about a performance you don't like, you should feel free to discuss it in a constructive way. But I think technically issues that are specific to you, are better left out for your own benefit. Peace out.

French phrase: Piece de resistance The French have a phrase that makes an effort to sum up Angelina Jordan, "Pièce de résistance" It can be thought of as the portion of a creation that defies orthodox or common conventions and practices, thereby making the whole of the creation unique and special. The phrase gives the sense that the referred-to element is the most outstanding, notable, or defining of the collection. That is if you can sum up Angelina Jordan in a simple phrase, I can't, because there is nothing to compare her to on earth.

Yup vibrato 😊 Do note, your critique. She identified a few years back a musical interest in a type of music, I forget the name, but it's definition is 'imperfect music'. It even talks about breathing, breath control. You'll find as a normal modern human we aren't used to jazz, playing with the timing of songs, falling behind, catching up. Breath is often edited out. You'll see she not only leaves her breathing in 90% of the time, but often uses it as part of the song even. Like her sharp and timed breaths in her newest 'I have nothing" cover of Whitney Houston. So for me and you guys maybe, she takes a bit of getting used too, but man is she phenomenal and intuitive.

I can’t believe nobody has told you about her bare feet. She was doing a show when she was young, ( her words ) and she saw a kid with no shoes and asked her why, the child replied she couldn’t afford any. AJ took of her shoes and gave them to her, then said she would not ware shoes while performing again, until every kid had shoes. And so she hasn’t.

The tremolo on the guitar in Bang Bang pretty faithfully replicates the Nancy Sinatra version if you give it a listen. I'm not exaggerating when I say Angelina did it at least as well if not better. Sinatra's is from way back in the mid-sixties but many will recognise it in more recent times from the soundtrack of Kill Bill. The original, sung by Cher (Sonny & Cher) was much more up-tempo and didn't therefore feature the prominent guitar motif.

Well, 3 out of 4 are a win, I guess. Now that you've seen them, check out some voice coach/instructor channels to hear what they're hearing. - And - score one for the Mrs.! It's vibrato hat you're hearing. It's a skill that's difficult to achieve, even after many years of singing. Additionally, Angelina's style of vibrato is even more difficult to master than the other. I encourage checking out those voice coaches to dive at to a deeper level on what she's achieving.

Can you imagine being a 7-year-old child and singing a Cappola in front of judges that could change your whole life's direction, that is what should move you, not the fact that you could hear every breath, and tongue placement. Future performances that she has done to-date also include the sound of her taking a breath, I prefer those sounds that the genius of Angelina Jordan makes because it is all the total being that she is. Most of BS that is published called music is so over processed that it is not real, on the other hand, AJ is a once in a millennium happening.

Of the four songs she does in the competition, two are Billie Holiday's. How important was Billie to Angelina? Well listen to what she said when she was interviewed bu Nadia Neophytou for 'American Songwriters'. I have to say if it wasn't for the unconditional love that came from Billie's legendary music, THERE WOULD NOT BE ANGELINA JORDAN TODAY'. She then added, 'I am very blessed that her music found me very early'. Billie was the most improvisational singer of all time and redefined the 'Jazz/Blues' genre with facets of singing no one else ever did. The unique nuance, inflections, and breathy releases were just a part of what you will find when you listen to Billie's catalog of music like Angelina did. Billie was a self taught singer, who had no mentors, and upon reaching the night clubs of Harlem she distinguished herself as 'The Queen Of Jazz'. Angelina has heard all the great singers of all time but places Billie 'alone' at the top of the musical pedestal.
