Tiny Little Girl Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice was 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve. I have a number of pictures of celebrities whose height is known, for example, Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is 6ft tall, and AJ published a picture of her standing next to him, she was at least 1 inch taller than him, and she had to look down at him.

e pluribus u-num With all the gimmicks that are used in what is known as music today it is so refreshing to come across a being that does not need auto tune, lightshows, dancers, outrageous costumes, bands, or orchestras to cover their weaknesses because she has none. AJ can perform a Capella, or with one or two instruments to follow her lead and give you chills with each performance. I have always enjoyed all genres of music, and being 75, I have experienced the best the industry has to offer, from the early 50s, to 2023, but I have never been moved emotionally in the past anywhere close to what Angelina Jordan does from 7 to 17. When I heard Celine Dion perform in a tint in Québec when she was a child, I predicted she would be the next world superstar, and the rest is history. Celine did not sign a record contract until she was in her early 20s. David Foster, who made Celine a star flew to Norway after Angelina wone NGT and tried to sign her, but her family wanted to stay in control of her future. Angelina, at 13, appeared on AGT and getting worldwide recognition signed with the largest record company in the world at age 14, Republic Records. The story is that Monty Lipman, the CEO personally signed her even without meeting AJ, he was shown a video of her performance. Angelina Jordan will be the next Super Nova very soon. 13 year old Angelina had waited 10 years to sing for Simon and Simon had waited more than 5 years to have her on his stage. Simon is involved with each countries Got Talent so he knew when Angelina won Norway's Got Talent in 2014 at age 8 covering Billie Holiday. Angelina has always created her own arrangements, seemingly from birth, and this arrangement is nothing short of genius. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The vast majority of the prize money was donated to charity benefitting poor children. Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter and allowed Angelina to copyright her version. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Anything Angelina!! She was very prolific around the ages ten through twelve. She does a Rihanna song called STAY that is very telling of her genius. It's performed with guitar accompaniment by Ivan Mendez. Angelina is reading the lyrics over her shoulder yet completely understands the emotion of the song and makes it her own. Mind blowing. One of a kind, once in a lifetime singer supreme with artistic abilities which reflect her genius dipped in gold dust. 2023 is a big year for her. Protected and managed by a loving family they wanted her to enjoy life as a teenage girl and finish her education before going ahead full blast with her career. AGT First, and foremost; Angelina was not on that show to win. This was quite simply to promote and expose the US public to this prodigy that comes along maybe once in a generation. To win, AJ’s family would have had to sign a contract with Simon, and he would have been in control of her future. Her family would not allow that to happen. It was not question of money offered because AJ was already worth 2 to 3 million at the age of 13, and her family are very wealthy. I am sure America’s Got Talent was paid well by her production company Stargate, the hitmaking duo (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith). David Foster tried to sign her in the past after she won Norway's Got Talent, but the family did not like the contract. She is like nothing we have ever experienced.

This was around 4 years ago, she does all her own arrangements, even directs the bands. There is no correct order and no bad performances. Watch out here a there for poor recordings as you go though her catalog of around 200+ performances. If you want to go to more or less the beginning there are four 2014 performances ages 7-8 (Norways Got Talent [NGT]). There short so watch or react to them together. She also writes her own songs, but if you're willing to dive into the rabbit hole you must see her when she first began. At the age of 7 and 8 she performed at Norway's Got Talent. Angelina does her own arrangements. If you look carefully at the beginning video of "You put a spell on me" she is writing composition instructions to the instrumentalists. He's reviewing her directions. She is a Mozart-like prodigy who was composing at 3 or 5 years old also. She is only 13 here.

World class performance 3 years ago and she has gotten better every year since. She has such a wide variety of singing voices and styles, often dramatically different. If you want a song with some dramatic appeal, check out her version (age 12) of James Brown's Its a Man's World on stage with the Norwegian Armed Forces Staff Band. Very different yet again. OR, maybe, My Funny Valentine from last year's Valentines Day, a sophisticated jazz piece with impeccable singing, very much in her wheelhouse.

Her voice gives me chills!!!! I am impressed by the following: all of her vocal runs, switching from chest to head register, just the right amount of vibrato not too much, and letting the exact amount of air pass over her vocal cords so it's not too breathy but just the right amount. Sooooooo GOOD! I agree with you, whoever came up with this arrangement of the song for this performance is genius.

She (her and her family team) had made it known that she would not sign with Simon. One of the stipulations of this show is that if you win you will sign with Simon’s agency. Everyone and their brother was trying to get her in their stables, but they were methodical and made it known she would only sign when the deal was right. She finally signed with Republic Records in like August of 2020 and we are waiting breathlessly for her first album to drop.

Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time reinterpreting this Queen classic with her own arrangement - at age13. I wish you hadn't cut out the judges before & after comments where we learn that Angelina was 7 when she won Norway's Got Talent & is 13 here. Angelina is now 17 & has quite a variety of cover songs & some originals readily available on KZbin. I still recommend going back to her NGT audition singing Gloomy Sunday at age 7. I also highly recommend one of her original songs - Million Miles - her 1st release after signing with Republic Records at age 14. While there are several versions available, IMHO her live in studio is the best. Some more recent covers include: the Elvis hit song - Suspicious Minds & the Whitney Houston classic - I Have Nothing - both at age 16. Thank you. When you listen to her performances over and over and over, you discover more and more details you never noticed before. For example, on that highest (belted) note of the song (which is an "allusion" to the guitar solo in the original), you can hear a little "unsteadiness" in her voice. It was only recently that it dawned on me that she's actually using _vibrato_ on that note. (!) Which is really weird. Most people would be just trying to keep their voice from cracking near the top of their belting range. She's using vibrato. The girl is just _insanely_ good at singing… (For the record, she didn't sing that note with vibrato in the studio version that she released shortly after this performance aired on TV, but when she sang the song again live last summer [on _Allsang på Grensen_ ], she sang the note pretty similarly to how she did here. And then in December she sang that part of the song _completely_ differently, using falsetto instead of belting. She likes to change things up from time to time.)

I really appreciated your reaction. If you haven't seen Angelina on Norway's Got Talent 0lease watch that. She performs 4 songs. She started the competition at age 7 and turned 8 when she finished and won. Also go way back to age 6 which was her very first time being in a studio. She sings I Who Have Nothing. Angelina does her own arrangements. She is a child prodigy and all of the covers she's done she clearly makes them her own enjoy the ride. God Bless You.

You have to hear her sing My Funny Valentine (at age 16 - the video). She now has an album out called Old Enough. I think she is 17 or 18 now. The whole album is FIRE, but there is a song on there she does called Diamond. OMG!! You MUST hear this!!
