I have said it before, I have never been so moved by ANY other performer in my 58 years on this earth as I have with this beautiful Angelina. No words have been invented to describe this angel. Howver, in her honor, l have invented one: Angelinated - The progressive inner and outer sensation of pure tearful joy caused by an experience that leaves one overwhelmed, bewhildered, speechless, and in mental paralysis; followed by the need to allow one's mind time to process what had just occurred and, in turn, share it with others.

Angelina sings beyond anyone I've ever heard. The words and melody of the song just float right out of her mouth effortlessly, like she doesn't even try to make it sound good. 👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Thank you for another Angelina reaction. I have actually read some comments from people on KZbin saying that what Angelina typically does is not very difficult, since she doesn't belt out high notes a lot of the time, so I really like how you explained that singing more quietly is very difficult to do, and that it requires a great deal of control. Angelina is an absolute master at singing softly. By the way, she just signed a contract with Republic Records (the same label as Amy Winehouse, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande), and they have made her their "highest priority new artist."
@Rosannasfriend4 жыл бұрын
Those people are ignorant. There’s so many more complicated things you can do in a song than belting. Too many people have been conditioned in this generation to think singing is all about belting. It’s a disease. And I say this as a big fan of belting. At least I am capable of recognizing other nuances involved in singing. There are things like a rhythm, breath control, power, tone, and emotive ability, things that many belters don’t even have.

There are two things that are incredibly impressive to me about Angelina.... One, that she is able to do all these master level techniques at 13 years old. And Two, that she is able to choose exactly when and where to deploy these techniques to give a song the perfect feel. She does it every time, with every song she takes on. She hears it a certain way in her head and is able to reproduce it with her vocals. It's super impressive that she _can_ do it, but I think it is more impressive that she even _thinks_ to do it in the first place. I really enjoy your analysis, and you have just scratched the surface of what Angelina can do, so I hope to see you check out lots more of her stuff!
@borgerborgersen3724 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can learn how to properly deploy the techniques like Angelina does. It comes natural to her. That is why it's perfect every time. It doesn't matter which genre she sings. She will always find her way to excel. She proves time and time again she was born to sing. It's as natural for her as breathing for the rest of us. Let her search an unknown song on her phone and she can sing it with passion immediately. She just glances at the screen from time to time for the lyrics.
@RustyShacklefordChannel4 жыл бұрын
@@borgerborgersen372 I agree. The _how_ to sing some of her techniques is maybe something she learned (when she was much younger). ...but the _when_ to use a technique... that part is innate. That part comes right from her soul. I don't think someone could teach that.

I so concur with your observations.

@@RustyShacklefordChannel hello - What you call "technical" as voice coaches do only exists because you dissect the voice with your intellect. Angelina Jordan sings naturally like the sun or the stars shine without calculating anything at all. She does it unconsciously and naturally. She is embodied in what she sings. This is why it is extraordinary and magnificent. She doesn't use vocal techniques when thinking like a coach or someone who calculates what is best to impress or look pretty. It's like looking at a simple and wonderful landscape - no painting even well executed can match the sheer beauty of nature. No copied vocal technique or learning can match the innate, natural talent of a natural voice like this. Angelina Jordan doesn't mean to be like that on purpose - it's a gift from nature and with sensitivity we can feel it.

@@voyageur7393 What is it about Angelina that are allowing her to sing in a way that are bringing tears in the eyes of the listeners,here when she was thirteen years of age,but all who have listening to her catalog of covers and originals from she was 13,12,11,10,9,8,7,and even from she was 6 years old know that she has had that same effect on people even from that young age?In a way she is not only singing for your ears,from her early years up to now,she has had her own way of emote,and bring this emotion to you the listener,in a way that no one has ever done before IMO,in a way she is also connecting to and singing to your soul.Angelina self has told that to her singing is as impotant as breathing ,and she said early that she wanted to be a superstar and bringing love and sing to the whole world.Now that she has signed a contract with a recording company,I think she is on her way to stardom.Why did she at so an early age becoming sure of what she would accomplish in her earthly experience?and IMO the only explanation can be that she is not an ordinary mortal,but an cosmic avatar ,sent to this earth in this turbulent time in the history of the human race.In a grand scale she is here to give love and peace to a suffering humankind and in the individual life of the listener to give love and comfort and heal the ailments and problems in the daily life of the listeners,listening to her give people rest and peace and it has an immeatly terapheutic effect,and that and the emotion you are feeling are some of the reasons why we all have this addiction to listen to her.

Hi Michal, This was a great reaction & break down. Angie made history, If anyone's brave enough to do this song, in her rendition of the song, they'll be compared to her, for it's her song now. Think of it she took a iconic classic rock opera & stripped it down & turned it into a jazzy/bluesy soulful ballad at age 13. Please support her music, CD's, iTunes, etc.. Put her on your play list...So many (even Disney) producers have been trying to get her to sign with them. Her & her mom just tell them no, (she wants to finish school 1st). Her family is very protective of her, they even formed a production co. for her (Angelina Jordan inc.) so to try & keep the industry’s claws out of her. She's a rare talent that comes by once in a lifetime. Angie is music. She can do any genre & sound better than most originals & she's still very young too. She’s 14 as of 1-10-20. She made her outfit using the pattern of an artwork, from her grandmother. She makes several of her other outfits too. She just signed with Republic records (she won’t show on site until her 1st album comes out) as of end of Aug 2020. A God given voice & talent. What amazing timbre, texture, liquid gold vibrato & amazing rare skill of tremolo & the pitch perfect skill as well as her Melisma’s are out of this world, also no sound comes out of her mouth unless she wants it too, control beyond a most of the pro adult singers, etc She's very sweet, respectful, humble, giving, & a loving Christian in real life too. She selects, arranges & composes her songs while still being respectful to the original. She has written 3-4 songs plays 4+ instruments & is trying to learn a little Saxophone right now. Speaks 3-4 languages & sings in 4+ languages etc.. .English isn’t her 1st language, it’s her 3rd. She also gives a lot to charities & helps out children who really need it. You are so right, she made this a "new" song & she literally owns it. She copyrighted it right after she sang it on AGT-C & recorded it as a single on her old label, Angelina Jordan, Inc. Singers are already trying to cover it on YT as Bohemian Rhapsody in the style of Angelina Jordan. So far, no one has even come close to her rendition. Your reaction/ analysis was spot on & I really look forward to you doing more reactions to her. My only complaint was you zoomed in so much on the video that Angelina wasn't on the screen some of the time. Otherwise, perfect. Please keep them coming & she will always amaze you.

@@danl.4743 That's interesting. I'm completely unaware of the legal implications of copyright and fully support an artist's rights towards their work. It's worth saying that of course so many artists want their work to be shared in order for it to become better known and gain a wider following. As Ellis Lamar ruefully said whilst reviewing young Ayu Gusfanz playing 'Moonlight Sonata 3rd' .... "The copyright demons are not nice !" Difficult paths to tread between an artists rights to their years of work and mostly pain being protected, but by using a sharing platform becoming better known.

More than anything, i am going to react to the reactor. Thank you so much, Michal, first of all, for splitting the screen in half so we can see the person singing better. I have never understood why it's become the thing to do to have the singer in a quarter of the screen instead of the other way around. I keep thinking the reactor should be able to shift their own image around to adjust to the video they're watching .. but you at least attempted a half screen. Thank you. We couldn't see her all the time but i still liked it better. I also loved that you listened with respect and were not talking all the way through as some do .. and when you copied some of her riffs it wad to make a point rather than to compare your voice to her or show that you can do it too .. it felt like it was simply part of your explanation. And how brilliant to watch it twice and talk through the second time! Great! I really appreciated it. You also didn't just talk technically but gave her credit for the creativity and devotion she has to what she does. She is such a gift. I've been watching her since Norway's got Talent and she's a wonder and, I believe, quite brilliant. Thanks again for doing your reaction differently than everyone does visually. I do hope reactors all figure out how to do it so we can actually see the artist better.

Another great reaction and analysis. As others have pointed out the melismas were part of this performance (and ...Yellow Brick Road) but have not been a regular part of her approach. More vocal fry in her past, but not always. Almost always we hear her wonderful vibrato which changes over time as well. Going back to her early stuff would be fun. All of Norway's Got Talent is great-- I love Summertime. 9 year old Angelina and I Put a Spell on You is hyper entertaining. 10 year old Angelina singing Feeling Good feels so good. On and on. Hoping for more. I like how you do this.

Hey, thanks for this! A couple notes... - I think the melismas are a little much for her taste too, lol. This isn’t characteristic of her. Neither is the obligatory belting note. I believe she was including these to appeal to typical AGT tastes. The fact that she does them so beautifully is a testament to her incredible diversity and adaptability as a vocalist. - in general, Angelina Jordan has never been about showing off her vast array of considerable skills. She has always used them only to support the song and help to convey its meaning and emotion. - I’m not a big believer in the idea that great artists are just born that way. I think that actually shows a lack of respect for the discipline and effort it takes to master that instrument. But there are certain aspects of Angelina’s vocals, such as this ability to convey feeling through music and her at least partly intuitive (it was there when she was 6 years old!) command of rhythm and phrasing. What a great way to end the day! I hope some of my AJ fan friends will be able to reach out to support someone who has dedicated her life (or at least career) to vocal music as a performer and teacher. You have the ability to really enlighten us with your professional-tier reaction and analysis and I appreciate it very much.
@RustyShacklefordChannel4 жыл бұрын
I agree completely about the melismas. I think the AGT performances were a very unique situation. Angelina had 2.5 minutes to go out there and show the whole world what she could do (I can't even imagine the pressure of that). She had to pack a lot into these performances to even start to show her vast repertoire of skills and understanding of music. When you listen to all her stuff in more intimate settings, she uses every technique in such a tasteful way. I am not someone that has ever like extra "runs for the sake of runs", and Angelina never seems to do that. Every note always seems to belong exactly where she puts it.... like it was always meant to be there.
@Rosannasfriend4 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, most coaches have said that this was tasteful in terms of melasma is. And many of her fans would agree in the comments, but now that this coach is saying it was a bit much, the fans are going to agree that it was a bit much… But say "she doesn't always do it like this!" I think people should take a stance and stick with it.
@mrpeppery4 жыл бұрын
Rosannasfriend Rosannasfriend both Rusty and I have made the same comment before. I don’t think either of us have changed our stance. And for her part, I don’t think Miki was criticizing the performance at all or trying to change anyone’s mind about how great it was. My understanding of her comment was that it was about her own general personal tastes. I have the same feeling about the overuse of melismas in pop music in general. Angelina manages to do them beautifully here. Even when Miki made the statement at 7:05 that you are referring to, her initial comments on that run were very complementary (6:10 , 6,20), as were comments she made about other runs at 7:30 and 8:20 and (referring to the ornamentation in general) in a lengthy comment starting around 8:55. I’ve seen other reactors make similar comments, but you are right that some reactors seemingly can’t get enough of them. It’s just a matter of taste. We want these reactors to give us their honest opinions, and she’s only reacting to one song here. It’s a 10 minute video and there is one comment about something she would’ve done differently preceded by very complementary words about the same thing. I think it’s pretty clear that Miki found Angelina’s performance to be very impressive. I have personally been on the record to say that this is arguably Angelina’s magnum opus because because of the unbelievable level of vocal control she demonstrates. Like Rusty said, she’s only got 2 1/2 minutes to demonstrate what she’s capable of and I think she did that in spectacular fashion here, notwithstanding my views about the use of melismas in general.

@@Rosannasfriend "I think people should take a stance and stick with it." ....I'm pretty sure my stance on Angelina is well established and solid ;) One of the things that I love about her singing is that she doesn't over do it with the runs. When I watched this performance the first time (as it aired), my first thought was "she went a little farther than she usually does with that run" (and the same with the belt), but I also immediately realized why she was doing it, and respected her wisdom on this. Would I say it was "too" much... no.... christina aguilera is too much. Angelina Jordan is just right.... even when she takes it a little farther than she normally would, it is still for just the right reasons.

Angelina Jordan Frank Sinatra, and Louis Armstrong by combing jazz playlists across KZbin. At eight-years-old, she won Norway’s Got Talent with a viral rendition of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.” Labels and producers feverishly sought her out, but she already possessed a clear picture of what her path would be. - [ ] Taking her time, she opted to carefully hone her voice through countless hours of practice, gigs, and writing. - [ ] “It was really great, but I knew I wanted something bigger,” she admits. “I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.” - [ ] She got “ready” through a series of historic performances. She graced the stage of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and delivered an emotionally charged rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” A year later, she wowed an audience at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm. Touching down in Seoul during 2017, she joined a powerhouse bill alongside PSY and Norah Jones in front of 40,000 people at Muse In City Festival. Quincy Jones personally invited her to perform at his 85th birthday at London’s O2 Arena. - [ ] Every time she took the stage, she was notably barefoot, which remains one of her signatures thus far. - [ ] - [ ] Along the way, GRAMMY® Award-winning production duo Stargate [Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Rihanna] reached out, and they initiated a fervent creative partnership together. She continued to write lyrics, compose on piano and guitar, and record. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020. - [ ] Now, she formally introduces herself on the single “Million Miles.” With lyrics exclusively penned by Angelina, her robust delivery sails over sparse piano on the verses as the track builds towards a sweeping refrain, “We’re a million miles apart. It’s pulling my heart." - [ ] “Million Miles” is about losing someone you really love,” she explains. “This song is very personal to me, because I had never felt the feeling of losing someone before I wrote this.” - [ ] With more music on the horizon, there is more of Angelina’s captivating voice and songwriting in store. - [x] “I hope you feel connected to the music and the stories behind the songs,” she leaves off. “Love is the most powerful thing though. That’s the message.” - [x] worth of $3 million. … Find a record deal republic records - [ ] - [ ] Angelina Jordan a decade desiccation - [ ] 86 Melody - [ ] kzbin.info/aero/RD9Tw

If all the best singers in the world got together and tried to recreate this like the original, a 6+ minutes song, to sing in 2 minutes, it would sound like a chipmunk imitating an auctioneer. Her reinterpretation and composition here is genius. Her vocal choices were probably made to fit the occasion and not those she would have made if she were making a them for different setting. She probably embellished more than she would if this were not a competition with limited time to impress. Qualification/disclaimer, I'm only guessing (thus, using the word probably) and in no way pretending to know what goes on in that genius mind of hers.

Angelina's Uncle and agent announced on Aug 28th that she has signed a contract with Republic Records. Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Drake are just three other artists that are contracted to them. Angelina will move to the top of their attention and on the international stage. I just pray that she is not changed mentally in any way by that contract. Her family has protected her since her notoriety started when she was 8 and they have been just perfect. She is her own keeper pretty much. She had her own label. She has always arranged her own music. She has had her own band and two wonderful guitarists to work with. I believe we are watching the greatest female singer to ever live and that was when she was only 10! She is remarkable, able, mellow, smart. Did you know that English is her third language of 4? She also sings in Japanese! I cry every time I hear "I'm Not the Only One." It is because it is a very sad song, (watch Sam Smith's video), also because it shows her amazing talent for emotional inflection, but mostly for me, it is because of the video taken in the limo and the front entrance of the Bellagio. She with her family emerge from the limo she goes ahead to the far door alone and absolutely no one knows who she is! Soon everyone will know who she is and that is a lot of change. She has wanted since she was three to be a famous singer, and now that will be tested.

there will be a lot of broken hearts if she does not make it as big as she hopes, including mine. She has so much competition out there now, As we speak newcomer Daneliya is getting rave reviews for her performances on AGT 2020. She is the frontrunner/favorite to win. If she wins then Angelina will probably feel even worse, since she came in 6th at AT Champions back in January. People get a chance to vote on the regular AGT show. Not so on AGT Champions. Thank you for your review. As you say, her choices are so mature. She's fearless, so confident in her instrument. I hope you will look at other covers, like Lana del Rey's Young and Beautiful or Born to Die, or Adele's When We Young or A Million Years Ago, or Rhianna's Stay, or Sam Smith's I Know I'm Not the Only One. And so many others. I think covers have given her a chance to hone and explore her voice, and covers are the staple of the jazz greats she grew up with. They seldom wrote their own material.

Great reaction. But it isn’t just guitar background. The piano slides in undetected because Angelina is so in control of the song that 99% of ppl don’t realize it. I didn’t notice it until like the third time I watched it myself. And Angelina does arrange the songs to her preferences. I’ve seen in another comment on “I Put A Spell On You” that she hands the director there her “wishes”, as she called them. And it’s how she wants the song arranged. And that was at nine years old. Incredible. Edit: If you watch this full video, you’ll also notice the stage crew pushing the piano out while they’re preparing for her.
