This song is an original by "Screaming "Jay Hawkins, who she honors with that candle at the beginning. She made her arrangement here based on that original. You can find his recorded (I don't recommend the live) version online. Her technique and lung power for her age, and still being relaxed, is totally amazing to all the vocal coaches. If you are interested, check out her age 7/8 Norway's Got Talent---four songs---jazz beginnings. Her two audition songs are Billie Holiday songs. BTW, there is a video of her singing at 1 and a half years, into a microphone, a Whitney Houston song line. You can hear she's on key. The girl was literally born to sing.

it says quite something to need to go back to someone being 18 months old to find a song that is not quite so good :-) and she still sang it better than i could ever do :-)

Great reaction, just watched it twice! I will admit I have watched reactions to this song more than any other, most likely closing in on 1,000 times if not already past that. It never gets old, the shock and wonder on your faces said it all! As you are now realizing, this girl is something truly special. She said of this song "It is about love, desperate love, almost like voodoo. When I cry out, it is a plea to love each other". It has been said many times "If you want to listen to a song, you can listen to anyone. If you want to feel a song, listen to Angelina". As you noticed Jess, Angelina is very expressive with her hands as she sings, as if she is sculpting the music out of thin air. This is how the song was meant to be sung, imo. Perhaps next you would like to go back a bit further? One of her very 1st studio recordings when she was 6/7 years old, just before she appeared on Norway's Got Talent "I Who Have Nothing" here is the link, it has subtitles available, kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJu0i354pbuUm9U See you soon!

As much as I love the studio recordings of Million Miles, the July 10 live concert version is my favorite because Angelina seems to just pour out her soul on the climactic note, as to say her message ‘that you are not alone’ to the world for as long as she is able: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ2rYYN5abV4hrM Don’t skip her into when she is stumbling over the spoken words, because the delivery shows how authenticity she means this unplanned message.

There is no wrong way to listen to Angelina. You can go chronologically, by genre, or by your favorite songs. She covers many styles as authentically as you saw today with blues. I can’t compare her to any singer I’ve heard in my 70+ years. She is called the girl with a thousand voices for good reason. There are dozens of songs I could recommend, but it might be good to see Angelina today at 16. Some fans say her voice is better than it ever was. It’s stronger, deeper, and more resonant now, but she was easily the best child singer ever. To end any suspense, and to get blown away by what Angelina can do, watch her just released cover of Suspicious Minds. It’s mesmerizing. She’s the best singer I’ve ever heard, and second place is very far off.

Her audition at age 7 for Norway’s Got Talent (“Gloomy Sunday”); at age 10 she sang “Summertime” at an open air concert; also age 10 she did “Feeling Good;” at age 12 her rendition of “I’d Rather Go Blind” was incredible; and also age 12 she did Adele’s “A Million Years Ago” beautifully. More recently she released an original, “Seventh Heaven.” These are, in my opinion, the can’t-miss videos.

Yeah, this one tripped me out too when I first heard it. That "old soul" voice coming out of a child is such a huge disconnect that, even though I've seen this clip a number of times before, my brain still is like, "no... that can't... I mean... what...?" whenever I see it. Admittedly, it's a little weird to hear a 9-year old singing about obsessive love bc there's no way she has the life experience to really understand what she's singing about here, but, man, she does an impression of it REALLY well. It just goes to show how much she's absorbed great music growing up (shout out to her parents on that one). And the fact that she specifically wanted to do the Screamin' Jay Hawkins version (which I believe she mentioned in an interview, iirc) shows some pretty good taste for a little kid (although, to be fair, he was such a weirdo, I was drawn to him as a little kid too... and also a little scared of him). And the fact that she pulls it off without just sounding like she's doing a bad impression of Screamin' Jay shows how much music has infused her growing and forming synapses. Like, her brain is literally forming in a way that music is becoming her natural state. It's so cool... and so crazy! I don't know about y'all but I certainly couldn't have done this at 9. I was too busy riding bikes, playing with my Star Wars figures, watching cartoons, drawing, and I don't even know what. The other thing that's always a little surreal to me is seeing all these adult professional musicians, producers, camera people, etc. all coming together and doing a real, serious recording session with a 9 year old. Nobody's cheesing it up, throwing it away, or trying to make it sound like "kid's music," they're all in it and just making good, serious music like they would with any professional singer... because she's that good. And, as another commenter mentioned here, she's not just singing over someone's arrangement. She's actually arranging and giving the musicians notes, etc. It's like... what? Definitely what you would call a prodigy and I love that we live in a time period where, thanks to the prevalence of tv and social media, we're able to actually watch that journey unfold from nearly the beginning. I know from watching some of her recent clips that, at 16, she's (obviously) only gotten better and is completely slaying it, but I can't wait to see what kind of music she makes as she starts getting more and more actual life experience. That talent paired with real, deep, sophisticated, lived and earned feeling...? Oof. We're in for a wild ride, y'all...

The first clip of her with a mic ...she US under 2 years old. Her first time in a studio is 6 years old singing I WHO HAVE NOTHING.Though her family is artistic rather than musical she spent alot of time with her grandmother Meri a famous poet and artist who liked to paint listening to jazz. Angelina absorbed jazz through her pores and it was her first love. She chose the Hungarian suicide song GLOOMY SUNDAY for her Norways Got Talent audition at 7 years old. You can get this with English subtitles. I would recommend it. Its so strange to listen to this tiny Norwegian girl sing all her songs in english. I personally think her version of BANG BANG which was her third song, is the best version I have ever heard. She was 8 by then and her teeth had grown back. Summertime was her winning song. After watching these the next logical songs would be FLY ME TO THE MOON on US The View. And WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKE both at 8 years old.

No problem moving around between ages. We all do it. We cannot get enough of Angelina. This has to be the most incredible performance, even an experience, from any child singer ever. You have to listen to it many times, not missing one single second of her actions, how her movements coincide with the music perfectly. How she controls the music and everything about it. It's unbelievable. And at 9. Gotta check out her beginning at Norways Got Talent, all three songs. She auditioned for that 2 years before this and won it a year before.

If you like R&B, her cover of Etta James' "I'd rather go blind" is simply mind blowing and the fact that she is singing this song chilling on the couch makes it even more amazing. No joke, this is an absolute must!! (she is 13 here) If you enjoy jazz her in-studio rehearsal of "I'm a fool to want you" is mesmerizing (she was 11). Lately she has performed live a cover of Labrinth's "Mount Everest". It is very short but it's a great example of her progression (she is 16).

At this point you should probably do the 4 songs she did on Norway's got talent, Then do her 1st age 6 studio of Tom Jones's song -""I who have nothing""... Then, But you may not be ready for it, You could listen to what most people consider to be her best vocal before Age 13... And it is a polished demo recording sporting of a song that would have been a massive hit for her we all believe at age 10 just before she turned 11... ""I'm still holding out for you"".. Truly amazing and impacting performance.

You can really take the journey through Angelina's works in any order. There are just too many great videos to give you a top ten, or even a top 25. That being said, there are a lot of lower quality recordings out there (never bad vocals, just bad video/audio), so you should stick to some of the recommendations to get the bast ones. I gave you my playlist of my top 100 or so in the last video. They are arranged in chronological order, but really you can just throw a dart at that list and you are going to hit gold every time (just mind the time stamps, as a few might be short).

Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction to Angelina and I'm looking forward to the next one. Norwegian born Angelina began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Influences include Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Diana Washington, Adele, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Lana del Rey, and many more. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! She also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 16, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records over a year ago. She is not widely promoted yet, however, as her family has decided to wait until she graduates school, so she has a normal childhood. Here is a link from ages 6 to 16 to all her 200+ chronological performances, including five originals. These encompass additional performances to those on her channels. m.kzbin.info/aero/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO Why does Angelina sing barefoot? When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina penetrates hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. kzbin.info Please remember to include in your description the Original Video link as well as the artist Official Channel, if you have not already done so. Folks, might I add my 2 cents of info too. Angelina Jordan Astar is super highly intelligent (confirmed) plus, her larynx is a tiny bit bigger than usual (also confirmed). This allows her voice to come out in this dark and warm resonating tone. Singing since 1,5 years old (there is at least 1 video), practicing since the age of 3 for six hours a day, six days a week. She studied music and performing arts at the academies of Oslo and LA. When six years old, she also went to normal school. Today she is a professional with a solid reputation in the community of musicians. Folks stay safe and sound. If you go on with Angelina, my person will be happy to provide info as a lot of others. OHH we don´t call ourself angels, it´s Angelina who calls us that. PEACE

Few do reactions as well as you two. You are a great combo and I wish you all the success in the world. This is one of Angelina's "Shock and Awe" songs and there are many more. The actual first video where Angelina shows her stuff was prior to Norway's Got Talent. She is 6 or 7 years old, and she sings "I, Who Have Nothing". Even then, she has the makings of someone who has a focus for what she wants to do in life. Also, at the age of 6, she declared her earth mission of singing for the world and she is well on her way to doing that.

Hey guys. Just like most people she put a spell on you. I am so happy that we get to watch you react to Angelina and Morissette who have been labeled by many as once in a generation singers. I hope you enjoy the journey. If you want to understand how Angelina did this check out The Fairy Voice Mother's reaction to this video. It is fascinating. If you want to hear Angelina be a 50 yr. old blues singer watch her video of "I'd Rather Go Blind. She is just sitting on a couch singing a song. I love hearing you guys react to all of these "new" artist. Most of us just semi-recently discovered them ourselves. Be Well

Great choice for a second visit to the amazing talent of Angelina , I agree with a post below that the Norway's Got Talent would be a great place to go next, to be honest there are over 150 amazing videos and my personal two favourites are her self penned Million Miles and her latest Suspicious Minds. Love your love for her.

Yes, really enjoyed the reaction from both of you. This performance by 9 year old Angelina sent many many down the Rabbit Hole after seeing this one. More than one vocal coach/musicians have said that this performance here should be studied in Music classes for child singers...simply an Epic performance as you have seen. You are two for two on Angelina reactions so far but you have not even begun to see what the talent of this young lady has....music genius is an understatement for sure, prodigy...yeah that one has been used up already. Happy to have subbed your channel after the first reaction because there is so so so much more to come. Love your enthusiasm and appreciation for the generational anomaly Angelina Jordan. Cheers ya'll...NEXT

Her arrangement too. That’s a really good group of musicians she’s working with. They must have been blown away by this 9yr. old prodigy. I believe that note she gave to the producer was some last minute instructions because they made a point of filming that Anyway, I haven’t seen any reaction where the viewers weren’t just dumbfounded by what they saw and listened to.

Citing her 150+ videos before she signed to Republic Records at 14 is tricky, folks. Maybe you should start with 'I who have nothing', a private recording she made when she was 6 years old and that already showed signs of what was to come later. Naturally her performances in NGT with 7-8 years. Highly recommended is 'What a difference a day makes', a live performance with 8 years. "I'll be there", another live performance about to turn 9 years old, she had a bad cold and insisted on singing, but she put so much soul despite having her voice almost broken, that it puts your soul on edge. "I'm still holding out for you", a sound-only recording she made at the age of 10 that "snuck" into YT. 'Feeling good', also live about to turn 11 (The Stream Gir Tilbake), is one of the best versions of this song I've ever heard. Among those I cite, there were many more before turning 11 years old, all recommendable, but to begin with, you will get a good idea of the enormous talent, supernatural talent of this creature. Have fun.

As they say AJ don't play. Well perhaps this is what she does when she does play and we get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 16 years old... That is unfathomable!... Oh Lord... what is coming the world is not prepared for but we as fans have been on the edge of our seats and will remain there as we wait. No hurry. We want Angelina to do it her way when she is ready. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her. We know Angelina will continue to amaze! We will be here to experience and cherish it for as long as we live.... and I am praying for many more years for myself to enjoy it till the end of my days... I hope to go out of this world listening to the most beautiful voice ever created for man just as Angelina came into it to fulfill her purpose, what she was put on earth to do, sing for the whole World... and Me! To me Angelina is always singing to me transporting me to that beautiful place she inhabits when she sings and to experience it with her. She has the ability to touch hearts and souls and change lives. She has the ability to change lives on a personal level and the power to change lives on a global scale. To me no one compares. You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻

Great reaction guys. The Greatest Performance Ever by The Greatest of all Time. 9 years 2 months and does her own arrangements. Go to the beginning. Norway's Got Talent 2014 at 7 and 8 years old. All 4 performances in 1 reaction,, in order with subtitles. About 12 min. Gloomy Sunday, I'm a Fool to Want You, Bang Bang and Summertime. You can see her progression and it is amazing.

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Original by Screamin'Jay Hawkins. Another famous version was done by Nina Simone. I could see the spell going through you, Jess. This time it was your turn... If you want to stay in her younger career, I suggest The Norway's Got Talent performances (Gloomy Sunday, I'm a Fool to Want You, Bang Bang, Summertime) Then" Fly Me To The Moon" aged 8, and "What a Difference A Day Makes". (same age) A must is "Man's World" aged 12 live with Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps. Her recent releases are Suspicious Minds and I Have Nothing, live and studio version. Her originals: What Is Life, Oslo, Shield, Million Miles and 7th Heaven (official music video). Her home studio takes "Stay" and "Million Years Ago" (12) are breathtaking. (tissue alarm) The more I write, the more comes to my mind. Rusty Shackleford has put some great playlists on his account with every song, she ever released somehow, chronologically also. And the takes from her recent live concert are really worth a listen.

Consider the band behind her. I think a couple had worked with her before, but WOW! They knew her as the boss and followed her arrangement and lead into making a top quality video, but I don’t think she even had a producer at this time!! Truly wow 🤩

Maybe you are surprised by this wonderful performance, but she's hard working everyday to get better since she entered the school for Art performance when she was 4y old. Her first public performance at the age of 7y on NGT was a big surprise for the judges and the whole audience with her version of the old notorious Song from Billie holiday.. Gloomy Sunday 💓
