On this channel, I not only take a look at the songs and history that made us who we are today, but also introduce you to today's modern music as well. Any songs that combine the two are always a winner. I've always loved music and have always tried to keep a balance between the classic music I fell in love with and today's MUCH DIFFERENT sounds. 1. AJ began singing at 18 months. Her grandmother was a jazz/blues fan and played that genre of music for AJ. She fell in love with it very early on and has even arranged most if not all that she sings from age 8. What an incredible talent. 2. Now, in this year of 2022 she stands at 6 foot tall and still in her mid teens. She still performs publically barefoot. 3. The backstory of her encounter with the homeless girl she met while she traveled with her family through Iran at age 6 includes the weather damaged bare feet of the child she gave her own shoes to. 4. The reason she performs barefoot is to bring awareness to her public of the children worldwide who can't afford shoes of their own. She has raised millions of dollars for clothing including shoes for those unfortunate children. 💕

Her voice has actually changed over the last few years. It's certainly not surprising at that age. It's a miracle that the voice has only gotten better. 😄😄 Here are some things that can be useful as background knowledge. Angelina was born on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway (16 years old today). She started singing at the age of one year and a half and has been arranging her cover songs since she was 6 or 7 years old. She started with jazz!! She won “Norway Got Talent” at the age of 7!! Angelina noticed a girl her age making some money by asking passers-by to stand on her bathroom scale to be weighed. In order not to soil the scales, Angelina took off her shoes. She chatted with the girl who wasn't wearing shoes and learned that she is an orphan. The girl admired Angelina's beautiful shoes. Angelina then gave the girl her shoes. The girl thanked her and said she would pray for Angelina every day. In return, Angelina promised her that she would always sing barefoot at public performances until all the children had shoes. Until today Angelina has kept her promise. In 2014, she sang barefoot outdoors at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert honoring Malala in December. A couple of corrections may be necessary. She entered for Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7 - although this is disputed - and was 8 years old for all but the first performance. Although it wasn't released until Sep 29, 2019, her performance of Autumn Leaves was filmed in a London Park, possibly on the same visit to London when she appeared on Quincy Jones' 80th Birthday Concert. If this is correct, she was12 years of age.

@@alberttenfoot Hello Albert, thank you for the information. Yes, I knew she won when she was 8 years old. But the competition started a few days before her 8th birthday. And in many comments, her age is therefore given as 7 years. And Angelina herself said at AGT that she was 7 years old when she won NGT. She seems to count as well. However, I have adjusted my documents and will be more precise in the future. I actually derived the age of Angelina on "Autumn Leaves" from the date of publication. It was already the end of September 2019 and that suits the time of year. Can the video really have been a year old when it was released? Judging Angelina's looks (12 years "What is life" and 13 years "How great thou art"), I have to agree with you. She seems to have been more 12 than 13 years old.

Angelina is now 16, and her voice has changed a lot. It's become more mature, richer and she has even better control. I guess it's always nice for fans to go back and listen to stuff the singer did when they was younger, as is the case when listening to Angelina when she was 5 and 6 years old, but from the time she entered Norway's Got Talent when she was 7 most performances are so good that I listen to them because the versions are good enough to match grown up artists. She has done a lot of different songs and experimented with many styles, but Jazz and Blues are close to her heart. I don't know how you will go about getting to know her music, but if you want to jump ahead to about current time, I think you will love her original '7th Heaven'. Her version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' at America's Got Talent The Champions is also a must. It is very different from Queen's version, but shows of her 13 year old voice beautifully.

Many of us who have been following Angelina's musical journey often refer new aficianados to Rusty Shackleford's website for the list of almost all of Angelina's performances going back to her debut at Norway's Got Talent in 2014. She was born in Norway in 2006. Her first taped performance was at the age of 6. She had to wait until the age of 7 to compete on Norway's Got Talent. But she won the competition having turned 8 before the finals. All total she has over 150 KZbin videos of which 5 are her own originals. Her choices in music span several genres, although jazzy blues is her dominant lane. Every one of these performances is a refresh of the original usually arranged by Angelina. She is gifted in vocal technique, emotive skill, musical intuition, and song arrangement. I have not yet heard even an ordinary performance by this phenomenon...and I have been listening to her for over three years now. In all my 79 years, I have never heard a voice as addictive as hers. She brings new life to dozens and dozens of classic songs from the 1930's on. So welcome to the "rabbit hole"...it is deep and wide. She call us, her fans, "angels", but it is she who is the angel. I only hope to live long enough to hear her break out into the world. She is crazy good...and thanks for your commentary. I did notice that you were drawn into the music and forgot about the spider...I think Angelina mesmerizes us when she performs. And I lose all sense of time and place...

She won Norway got talent age 7, performed for Quincy Jones, has been accompanied by quartets, quintets, philharmonic orchestras, Republic Recods signed her and she just became 16 yold. This rendition by our 9 year old Angel is always a great "set up" for anyone who has never witnessed this spectacular vocal masterpiece by the music/genius/prodigy Angelina Jordan Astar. Absolutely loved your reaction and comments to who shall be one of the greatest vocal artists to come along in decades. I am in my late 60's, have listened to a lot of music in those years and after discovering this young lady a few years ago it has become a life changing experience to hear pure raw vocal talent on display here. Angelina has a massive collection of songs on her channel, and she has revived so many classic songs from decades ago into new and amazing renditions that will blow your mind. She has her roots in Blues/Jazz thanks to her Grandma who exposed her to the greats of the past when she was very young. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (140+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. Angelina takes over songs just like here! If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. This interpretation is important to understand the uniqueness of Angelina's work because shows how she, from a very young age, manages to elaborate in a splendid way her incredible passion and understanding for music, in particular for this type of mythical songs. This was Angelina's own arrangement paying tribute to the original artist Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Many people are not aware that Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was an opera singer and a boxing champ. He joined the army at age 13 using forged ID. He was a formidable opponent in the army and later in the airforce boxing circuits. He won several boxing golden glove awards mostly in his hometown of Cleveland. In 1949 he won Alaska’s middleweight title. 9 years old Angelina Jordan just delivered him a TKO. LOL. Do you agree? The good part is you found Angelina so soon after you started creating reactions. The unfortunate part of finding her so late (as did I - but I just binge instead of needing to wait until I could record another reaction) is that you could react to only Angelina and not run out of content for a very, very long time. So, the dilemma is 1) become a channel dedicated to only Angelina reactions or 2) wait for an eternity to hear all her magnificent art. You are in for a long journey my friend. I discovered this young lady about 6 years ago, and now I have to listen to her every day or I feel like something is missing. She has about 160 videos on You Tube, and they should all leave you feeling the same way. I'm 67 and my music tastes, I feel, are varied, but now she is all I listen to. Her latest release, at 16, is "My Funny Valentine", and I probably listened to it half a dozen times in my life. Since she released her version on Feb. 15th, I think I may have listened to it 50 times, and each time it coaxes tears from my eyes. If you continue this journey, her Angels (her name for her fans) will be here and give you all types of info about her and all their favorite recommendations. My favorite son that she sings? She is a jazz prodigy from Norway that was exposed to jazz very early due to her grandmother and her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, and more recent artists such as Amy Winehouse and Adele. Her first exposure to a mass audience came when she competed and won Norways Got Talent at the age of 7 years old. Then, when she was 13 years old, she was ask to compete in the U.S. on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She wowed the judges and the audience with her rendition and arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Queen was so impressed they tweeted, "Wow! What a rendition!" She did not win the show, but her exposure here in America garnered her a lot of attention and grew her fan base and popularity. She has many videos of covers and some of her own originals on KZbin. If you actually do a search for "Angelina Jordan reaction" you'll see how popular and how many people are listening to her. Her voice has changed due to her just getting older, but, wow, she sounds so good! She has done different styles of music which has surprised her fans because she does them so well. Her fans, called Angels, have given her the name Barefoot Princess of Jazz and the Girl with a Thousand Voices. When she covers a song, many feel she does it as well and many times better than the original artist. I have a feeling her Angels are going to flood you comments pretty soon with information about her and her music. (Her grandmother is famous Iranian artist Mery Zamani.) The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. After talking with the girl for a while, Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. Angelina asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and the homeless girl said she wanted to be a doctor. the girl then asked what Angelina wanted to be, and Angelina said she wanted to be a superstar and sing for the world. The little girl said she would pray for Angelina for her dreams to come true. From that point on, Angelina vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them.” She keeps that promise to this day, as she says that little girl “is always in my heart.” Another reason why we Angels love her so much!

Like yourself I live in Florida and have been listening to Angelina for almost 5 years now. She is a true child prodigy there's a video ( when you believe featuring her rise to fame ) in it the last clip shows her in her crib with a microphone, family must have known even at that young age ( 1 or 2 ) she was born to sing. She embodies every song she sings should it be a cover or one of her originals. She is the product of an impeccable upbringing, after she won Norway got talent age 8 there were record labels out there wanting to sign her however her parents wanted her to wait and have a normal as possible childhood ( they Evan turned down Disney ) some of her accomplishments pre-teen youngest published author in Norway,( 9 ) sang Noble peace prize (8) was featured in a movie, sang in a ad for a car company,been on numerous TV shows, has raised millions of dollars for children's charities all over the world, she has sung for Royalty as well as world leaders prime minister of Norway and Japan, and Obama. This All done pre-teen. She is now sixteen and has signed with republic records however I don't see them making a push until she finishes her education again I think this is her parents and her upbringing. Great reaction Bob. Let me lay some mind-blowing facts on you. This arrangement was all Angelina. The notes she was writing at the beginning of the video were some final changes she wanted made that she handed to the band director. Angelina won Norway's got talent at the age of 8 with songs from Billie Holliday (Gloomy Sunday and I'm a Fool to Want You), Nancy Sinatra (Bang Bang), and Gershwin (Summertime). She has performed over 140 covers from 80+ different artists between the age of 6 and 16 (her current age). She has mastered almost all possible genres of music from Jazz, to Blues, to Disco, to EDM, to Country, to Pop, Gospel, and Classical. She began at the age of 3 immersing herself in and studying old-school classic jazz masters. She has performed in venues from small outdoor jazz concerts, to South Korea (40,000 attendance), London, Japan, the US, all over Europe, Singapore and others. Angelina (literally little angel) puts on her dark wings here and goes into beast mode! She can adapt to whatever a performance requires and convey the appropriate emotions as good as the past or current masters! Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction, - from start to finish, and, of course, I subscribed! Do you know, you’re only one of less than a handful of reactors who knew Screaming Jay? And thank you for lauding the musicians, they definitely stepped up for Angelina. She was well known by jazz musicians in Norway (and beyond) by this time, craazy. And yes, she has other styles, quite a few! A prodigy amongst prodigies. Pick any, or all, of the suggestions you’ve been given, she’ll leave you pushing replay, again and again. It is very hard to stop talking about Angelina, she is quite something. The very best thing, though, is that she was born into a family who loves her and takes great care of her, nurturing her talent and giving her all the tools she needs to develop. Although she signed with Republic Records in Aug ‘20, they are not promoting her until she has finished school, but she is under the wing of Rob Christie in the LA studio and the first thing they posted was Angelina covering Adele’s “All I Ask”. This dates back to 2016. The great Quincy Jones invited her to sing at his 85th birthday concert at the O2 arena in London. He said that she is the most gifted talent he has seen since Michael Jackson. She has over 140 video on YT from when she competed on Norway Got Talent at the age of 7/8 till now. Every single one of them is worth a listen and most of them are simply gems. If you like Jazz and vintage R&B check out her In studio rehearsal of Sinatra's "I'm a fool to want you"(12y) and the mind blowing cover of Etta James' "I'd rather be blind"(13y). Her cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"(13y )is a new classic (Actually you can now hear young artist covering that version on YT). Thank you for your right-on reaction. I read through all the comments and found a few things that were not said, since you are now well into Angie's history. First, English is Angie's third language, after Norwegian and Farsi. Also, she has studied German in school. She is probably conversant in Japanese, as well, since her mom and uncle grew up in Japan and frequently speak together in Japanese! Her late grandfather was Japanese. On tour in Asia, Angelina sang a song in Japanese and it is said that her pronunciation was perfect. Why Farsi? Her grandmother, Meri, is a fairly well known poet and painter from Iran and Angelina lived with her there when quite young. Angelina plays the guitar, piano and, I am told, the violin and flute (it's hard to sing when playing the last two...) She is a musical genius.

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind But not her longest. [grin] I believe that would be 19 seconds, in a live performance of "Feeling Good" when she was 10 (Kongsberg Musikkteater, 2016-07-09). I think FG was the final song of the evening, and as they neared the end the drummer totally screwed up her timing by playing past the point at which she was ready to launch into her "big finish". After shooting him a quick look, and not even seeming to draw a particularly deep breath, she proceeded to extend the long, slow, stair-step run up to the climactic "growled" top note longer than she's ever done, before or since (AFAIK). (BTW, I don't recommend you seek out that version of FG to react to it, because she and the band didn't really seem [to me] to be on the same wavelength on any of the four songs they did. [I might be wrong, but I think that might have been the only time she ever worked with those musicians.] The version of FG I would recommend wholeheartedly is the one she did on _The Stream Gir Tilbake_ [a charity-related TV special], also at 10, found on her official channel. The finale of that one is not especially long, but the performance as a whole is just utter perfection, IMHO.)

And - as young as she is here - highly recommend that you go back to all 4 of her Norway Got Talent performances (Gloomy Sunday, I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime) at ages 7-8.Suggest you use one of the compilation videos of all 4 as they're quite short. Yup our barefoot princes. :) One of a kind and we love her. I would recommend starting with her First Professional studio performance when she was 6 she sings "I Who Have Nothing" and like this one she knocks it out of the park. Then go to Norway's got talent. My Daughter turned me on to her what,, 6-7 years ago now, and we got to see her live one time. What a loving young lady. So invested in her Fans and so sweet. Enjoy

To me the difference between Angelina Jordan and most singers is that she feels the music and passes that on down to her audience. And I am a 74 yr old and i didnt know about your dictaphone tape because that would have been HIGH TECH where i lived . We did not even have paved roads where I lived in Michigan. They were dirt and gravel and once a summer they would oil them. Great place to grow up though.

She's now 16 and her voice HAS changed - for the better! She has covered a whole range of songs - over 160 covers on her channel - and all amazing. There are plenty of greats, from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, to Amy Winehouse, Adele and Rihanna and all points between. She is famous for bringing classic songs back to life and putting real feeling into the lyrics. Check out anything. The 'angels' (her devoted fans) will all be watching your channel.

She’s written her own music including some pop. She released her first movie score in December which was a remake of Mercy from the movie The HATING Game. She also co-wrote and produced a collaboration with TRXS called Above the Water which is a modern dance song. Her sweat spot is jazz. She was the opening act for 20,000 people at the London 02 arena-celebrating Quincy Jones 85 birthday.
