I had actually never heard of Toby Gad before so I looked him up and also background of If I Were a Boy. Gad is listed as a cowriter of the song but it looks like BC Jean is the main writer. Her idea and primarily her lyrics and melody. This sing, as well as 11 others that the two cowrote, were to appear on BC Jean’s debut album. The record label rejected the song and eventually the record deal fell apart. Gad then marketed the songs to established artists. Beyoncé liked If I Were a Boy so she recorded it with Gad co-producing it with her. Apparently BC Jean was initially upset when she heard that Beyonce had recorded the song as she considered herself an artist and not just a songwriter and intended it to be on her album. It is supposedly the first song she ever recorded and not planned on handing it to another singer. She does say that Beyoce’s hit with the song opened up other opportunities for her.

I have a good feeling about this collaboration. Angelina has had a number of collaborators since she moved to the U.S. First there was Stargate, and then the various collaborators for the songs on the EP, and also of course Rob Christie. I have some hopes that working with Toby Gad will finally produce some big hit records and make her a superstar. It seem to me that Gad has the talents and his style fits with Angelina's particular talents and musical sensibilities. Plus they obviously get along together so well. All that makes me things are going to go exceptionally well. Though of course I could be wrong.

Not sure if the “right” producer is what’s needed to create hits. I think the biggest thing needed is exposure and promotion. My concern is that Gad may try to make her sound too poppy and not herself. I hope she still has the final say in her music. I think the music she released. last year was all worthy of being hits. There was just no real promotion to get it out there and be heard although Love Don’t Let Me Ho seems to do fairly well internationally.

@FlyingAngel0638 I agree. I don’t have a problem with pop music. I’ve always liked pop music. I just wouldn’t want her to be produced in a way that she loses her uniqueness and ends up sounding too cookie cutter. Some complained about Old Enough being too pop. Yes it may have had more of a pop sound but it still sounded like Angelina and I loved it.

@@pjg58x It doesn't matter how much a song is promoted if it's not something the public really likes. Gad knows a lot about how to help write that sort of song.

@KenChawkin The Palladium concert on May 20th would not be available online. The Ivors Novello awards on May 23th in London at the JW Mariott will be livestreamed by Amazon Music UK Twitch account. today article online confirmed Angelina and Toby special performance backstage during the livestream

The concert on the 20th is Closed - no Video Coverage. However, I know two people that are going. One is absolutely going to record if even remotely possible and the other might - I need to convince him to free up some memory in his phone 🙄! The 23rd will be live streamed from Backstage during the Awards show, but the Awards themselves I believe are Closed to Video Coverage, but who cares - we get what WE want. All the "Stiffs" in the audience can enjoy their view as the Awards are announced, but the REAL action and fun will be backstage ! 😇Jim

@@summaEngineer yes I know also the 2 angels attending the concert at the Palladium. The livestream of the Ivors awards will be very interesting. We have a special performance by Angelina and we will see her also on the red carpet (maybe a little interview as well)

I hope this leads to performances on top shows like the Kelly Clarkson show like it did for Toby and Victoria Justice when they collaborated on his first "Piano Diaries" album a few years ago. Now Angelina is his "Spotlight singer" on his new album coming out May 31st. 2024

It sounds like you will sing only the one song "If I were a boy" at the Palladium. What about the "Ivers Awards"? Will it be telecast in the USA? If not then grandma Mery better have a good seat to film.

I think Angelina should try to somehow make amends at this time, With Brandon Lowrey , a k a Sterling Fox , a k a Baby FuzZ, And collaborate on some brand new music, As well as recreate the magic of "I'm Still Holding Out for You". I suspect it will take a peace treaty though. All she needs to do is go back to stargate.Or wherever she did the original demo and laid down a new vocal.Track as close as possible with emotion and depth. Everything else is pretty much perfect already. And that song is a classic because it still works today.

It would be a nice addition to the album (I'm holding out for you ) but who knows maybe the cost is too high she is bound to breakout at some point anyway and all the great songwriters will come knocking on her door I don't believe Elvis had his first number one until he was 21 and Miley was singing for 15 years before she got her first Grammy we're lucky to know about her at this stage it's going to be one heck of a ride.

Personally I don’t really want to see all the great songwriters knocking at her door. I would prefer that she does her own music. Writing songs seems to be very important to her as she writes in her journal everyday and has already written over 100 songs. I think she has a lot to say and doesn’t need outside writers to create songs for her Yea Angelina has an amazing voice but she is much more than just a vocalist.

I just found out that Angelina's "Special performance" for Amazon Music will not be top billing, it will be backstage . How many people will get to see it? Angelina is a top tier talent, she should be out front. I hope she gets paid well.

In reality, this IS Angelina getting Top Billing, because as I have read, the Awards themselves are NOT Televised. Angelina just might be the only Performer that Anyone sees that is Associated with the event. So, there you go . . . she could have been seen by thousands Live In-Person, or many Ten's or Hundred's of Thousands MORE on the Live Stream by performing backstage with Toby ! 😇Jim

@@summaEngineer there will be at least 3 performances at the awards ceremony from nominees METTE, Victoria Canal and the backstage performance from Angelina. I am sure she will be also at the red carpet interviews.

Toby did this same type collaberation with singer VICTORIA JUSTICE in 20/10/19/. I wonder how that went, and if Angelina and team are aware of it. Do not want to see her get hurt in any way.

Victoria Justice is going to be in his latest album called "Piano Diaries" due out in 2024, apparently he is still working with her also. I hope he will not turn out to be a rat.

Thanks for the video James. Appears you have the wrong date in the title of the video. Should be May 20th and not the 10th. Or is the 10th referring to the date of the Instagram livestream?
