Angelina has been singing for a long time, and nothing she does is not intentional, though your point is very appropriate for amateur singers who try to emulate the singers they like, and they have no idea how the sounds are created in a healthy manner. Also, she even said she cried a ton during this song because it was written for her grandfather who died when she was twelve or thirteen. Every artist has bad habits that pop up on their voices... but ultimately that is what makes them human and relatable. Well done as a vocal coach to identify areas that are vocal traps for amateur singers or young singer in general. Angelina is known for her use of melisma's and vocal fry as part of her jazz influenced style of singing. She is NOT a belter but she can belt when needed. And she is a chameleon in that she can adapt her voice to a genre or a song or genre to her voice. As examples listen to her cover of Miley Cyrus' "Nothing break like a heart" or Lana del Rey's "Born to die" then you have "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen) performance where she tailored the song to her voice, as well as "Yellow Brick Road" (Sir Elton John) and "California dreaming" (Mamma's and the Papa's). I am not a vocal coach or a singer (my kids will gladly attest to that!) but I understand music and love it as an art form. So please take my comments with that in mind.

this song is written by Angelina in memory of her grandfather but she has dedicated it to everyone who has lost someone close

At 7 when Angelina auditioned for Norway's Got Talent (2014) she had no nervousness at all in her delivery. At 9 she produced her iconic black and white studio version of "I Put a Spell on You" where she explored different vocal effects and rocketed the ability of her extreme growl (the only time). Bear in mind that she had been training with a voice coach since age 6 at the music academy in Oslo. Angelina drafts her own arrangements and purposely places riffs, runs, and melisma where she deems appropriate and needed. She is far more professional than vocalists twice, even thrice her age.

Coach, the song she wrote is dedicated to her dead grandfather, so is very emotional to her. That's why you can sometimes hear a crack on her voice, even pros (a lot of them) when they perform a song they wrote and have a very personal emotions attached to it.

I really like that Angelina gets lots of reaction videos, but one downside is that when a stellar reaction like this comes along, it can sometimes get lost in the pile. I really hope you will look at lots more Angelina. I am not a singer, and I know almost nothing of all the technical aspects you talk about, but I know that as a vocal coach, Angelina is someone that you could spend a lot of time studying. She has so many different styles of singing. One other important aspect of Angelina (probably the most important for me) is how naturally she sings. It never feels like she's performing. It just feels like she doing something she has to do. Like it's just "in her" and she has to share it with the world. She has a ton more to see, so I will look forward to your next one :) Also I always try to leave this for anyone new to Angelina so that they can learn a little more about her background, and her kind and caring soul....... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 15 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need. - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 130 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written four of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", and "Million Miles" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube) In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music. - Updates: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced in an interview that they have decided on Republic Records as the best fit for Angelina and she is now signed with them as their "highest priority new artist". On Nov 6 she released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"! On March 19 2021 Angelina released her latest single "7th Heaven" She has done so much already, but at 15 she is just getting started!!!

Angelina's vocal skills are stunning, but it takes listening to her many different styles & genre, covering scores of former & living legends, before you will see what she's got in her vocal toolkit. She doesn't use techniques in a song to impress, she only uses what's needed for her interpretation of a given song. Her arrangement skills are unbelievable. There are many examples of her taking a classic song, like Bohemian Rhapsody, & rearranging it into something totally different like a jazzy ballad. Who does that besides Angelina? BTW, Queen loved it. Her songwriter skills are also amazing & she has written 5 songs she has recorded, so far & each one is totally different. I believe she has a whole album of originals rumored to be released this summer. Angelina is probably best known for her emoting skills that makes you feel a song that often makes you cry. I suggest you listen to her latest release a few days ago called 7th Heaven. Angelina is way beyond who you think she is. She is not a kid with a unique voice who is growing and learning her trade. She has well over 100+ covers on you tube and about 6 originals and if you can listen to several of them you will see the versatility she has. She can sing 4 straight songs to you and except for her unbelievable soulful tones it's hard to believe it's the same singer. Obviously, I could go on and on but I think you know where I'm coming from. Try these on for size: "Song For A" (a song especially written for Angelina to close out an original album by Nico Cartosio) and "Unchained Melody" (sitting in a chair). But, there are so many more. All different, all rearranged by Angelina (since she was 9 years old!). There is a friendly joke going around in the trade: "If you are thinking of recording a record, understand if Angelina decides to do a cover on it, it will probably be better than the original!" I do appreciate your professionalism. It would be great if you could combine your analysis with an emotional reaction to how she is singing (interpretation and the soulfulness from her heart which is unmistakable). Your comments were very fair but you were too much like a machine.

Pressure? She has no idea what that is. She has no idea what nervousness is, either. It sounds like you've heard one or two of Angelina's songs before; you should know that you really need to listen to 30 - 40 (she has 130+ different songs on KZbin) to get a good notion of her range, control, and capability. Allow me to recommend you listen to: 1. "Fly Me to the Moon" for Quincy Jones' 85th birthday gala at the O2 Arena in London at his personal invitation (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX7OqKKnirOBoac) for an example of her clear relaxed voice. Note; this is the actual concert audio synced to video from a rehearsal, and was the original arrangement that Quincy did for Frank Sinatra. 2. "Wicked Game" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3qkfnlqe6mZrZY) for an example of her a very soft raspy voice. 3. "It's a Man's World" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbQaKd9p898gc0) to hear her belting capacity. 4. "Wake Me Up" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGbSnnaribZsiZI) to hear her her exquisite low range. 5. She just released a new original piece, 7th Heaven, which is completely different, a testament to her versatility.

Great, thanks! Actually AGT-C made her lie about her age when she won Norway's Got Talent, so it would be easy on people to do the math... She sang Gloomy Sunday at 7, her first appearance on NGT, but turned 8 during the competition. You might like to watch her sing "I'm a Fool To Want You" a capella for her 2nd appearance, 'the judges cut'! She is a well trained vocal athlete and often does her recordings in one or two takes (per her Norwegian guitarist). Apparently her family brought her to L.A. because her Norwegian teacher/coach said they'd given her all they had. Her family/manager has been very protective of her to this point, so hopefully she is schooled in being careful with her voice!

You have a new subscriber from New Zealand but BEWARE! This is a long comment. I hope you have the patience to read to the end. Thank you for discovering and reacting my favourite singer. Fromyou9r remarks I gather that you haver listened to Angelina before but as I am not aware to what extent my comments to a new subscriber might still be relevant. My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7-year-old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". Well, it was a seven-year-old child who appeared on the stage. She was small and had wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. My first surprise was how she confidently answered questions put to her by one of the judges. She showed no signs of nerves and when she was asked what song she was going to perform, she declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Then she gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music and started singing. Yeah! The body of the 7-year-old child was still there, but the voice wasn't. It was that of a 40-50 year old black woman who had been singing for decades. That first moment of surprise has been experienced many times since then. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on KZbin and in the years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Avicii, Bill Withers, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others: in total over 220 different songs and 82 different performers. She takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. When you listen to her there is the feeling that you are the object of her attention. She is singing for you alone. I have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What I will never understand is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing, once she starts to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. If you go to kzbin.info/door/hM_lpT4shdnsez93QMJPig you will find many rehearsals where, not only do you get to see her rehearsing but being the "ordinary" girl she is (if indeed one is able to apply that adjective to her). Most of her performances are recorded in her home studio, either with backing music or a single guitar. Most are done in one take. She treats the whole thing as a hobby. As we would have said when I was young. "There is no 'side' to her" She is completely transparent to the world. Perhaps you would like to go back a few years and work forward. By doing so, you will come to the realisation that she is "unique" and I don't use that word loosely. There is truly no other singer who has her versatility and sheer ability to communicate the emotions of a song to her listeners. I doubt there is another singer who works so hard to ensure that, when she sings the song, it is sung in such a way that her listener becomes enmeshed in the emotions So, here a few recordings for you to consider. age 6 - First visit to a Recording Studio:I who have nothing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJu0i354pbuUm9U age 7 - Norway's Got Talent - First Audition: Gloomy Sunday: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqKafqSae9ScmKs age 7 - Norway’s Got Talent - Judges' Cut-Off:I’m a fool to want you kzbin.info/www/bejne/gonOn3-QedSFjLM age 8 - Norway's Got Talent - Semi Final: Bang Bang: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYSogGZ_gruneas age 8 - Norway's Got Talent - Final: Summertime: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amWWoXWJpd1oeJY age 8 - Concert in Sweden - "I'll be there":kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHusqKmNmdSCadE age 8 - Charity Concert: At last: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmKck4RvfpKHY8k age 9 - Studio Performance:I put a spell on you kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU age 11 - It’s Now or Never - kzbin.info/www/bejne/np3MYpmroJ2th7M age 10 - Norwegian TV Production: Every time we say goodbye: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYO2emt-orl7gKM One thing which several of the new reactors - and those who have returned to her have decided, is to follow her career from the start. I didn't notice any previous videos of Angelina on your channel and I did watch your 2 videos for Diana. So you may not be aware that Angelina is already a very seasoned professional at 15years and 2 months. She gained worldwide attention for winning Norway's Got Talent at age 8. Her first 2 performances on NGT was age7, singing jazz. She has traveled the globe since 8 singing professionally. Angelina arranges all of the songs she has performed since 8 years old and knows what embellishments she wants to add or take away in pursuit of delivering a song that touches ones emotions. Unlike many singers who just want to show of their vocal skills Angelina wants to show off the song itself with well thought out interpretations even though she possesses all the bells and whistles. You can see in her many rehearsal videos as early as 8 showing the bands how she wants songs played and even playing piano to show a pianist how she wants it played. Angelina is a true prodigy and you would find it hard to believe unless you view some of her performances. I have seen vocal coaches saying there is nothing more they could teach her. Please react to "Feeling Good" Live on the Stream Gir Tilbake at 10 years old. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmnOcn9jqKx9rpo You will not find a better performance by anyone including the greatest jazz singers of all time. Hi Zoe! I appreciated your reaction and subscribed to your channel because I like the quality of your review. I realize that as a vocal coach you are analyzing the singer's technique and one of your goals is to provide information to other singers that watch your videos. So, when you warn other singers about the potential harm from overuse of compression and vocal fry, it is not a criticism of Angelina Jordan. It may be that the Angelina was trained as to how to use these techniques in a safe way; however, I think you may be warning singers without this kind of preparation not to imitate Angelina's technique. And even if you are criticizing it is perfectly fine as I'm certain that not all vocal coaches agree on everything. Normally I would not comment on a professional coach's opinion, but I was struck by how many seemed to rush to Angelina's defense even though in the end you noted that Angelina's voice is healthy, given that she can alternate between these techniques and pure tones. Please don't let that dissuade you from future reviews of her legacy or contemporary music because I think you have an important role.

This is from 3 years ago. She had just turned 14. This was very emotional for her .. sharing this song about her Grandfather. It was close to the start of covidand she dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.

I can't know for certain, but I'm almost positive that everything Angelina did in this song, she did on purpose to create the effect she wanted. And, she doesn't do a lot of those things that might not be healthy for her. She tends to put a little bit where she wants it then goes right back to healthier vocals. Personally, I love the song and her performance. Thanks for the reaction, Zoe. Well done!

Hi Zoe, it seems for me that you didn't listen to AJ the first time, right?... ;-) ...but I like your reaction and the way you explain for people who want to sing this song what are the points to be careful for not to damage the own voice! For Angelina I think it is no problem, because she sings since she was 1,5 yo and she got singing lessons since the primary school with 6 yo - so I think she knows what she is doing ;-) Here I would like to give you some more information even if you know some of them may be you find some new ones... (this is my "standard comment for firsties" ;-))) ) Welcome to the universe of Angelina Jordan and thanks a billion for this professional and interesting reaction to her - I'm sure to hear more reactions from you! ...because it is... ...too late! From now on you are assimilated in Angelinas entourage! Resistance is futile... Even if you won't believe it and if you are in denial about it: Only listen to one song sung by Angelina Jordan and you are hooked on listening her voice! May be you aren't aware of it yet... a legend says in rare cases there are humans who can resist.... but I can't believe it ;-) Every time it's a pleasure to watch people reacting to Angelina Jordan - especially when it is the first time - and I hope to see more of your reactions on Angelina Jordan... ;-) May be you wonder, what videos you should next react to ;-) ... There is a big pile of over 130 videos on KZbin with Angelina Jordans rehearsals, covers and originals... She is born 10th January 2006 in Oslo/Norge (English is her 3rd language ;-) ), sung her first notes of a Whitney Houston song with 18 months (link see down), started researching the internet for Jazz 3 yo, entered Norske Talenter (Norwegian Got Talent) 7 yo and won it 8 yo, was on AGT The Champions (recorded Oct. 2019, aired Jan. 2020) where she didn't won - some rumours say because she/her mother didn't sign the contract with the enterprise of Simon Cowell for to stay independend - meanwhile she has signed with Republic Records (musicnorway.no/news/industry-talk-michael-astar/). "Above the water": kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXSWd2OYgLCeabc - interesting voice - even if this is not my preferred genre ;-) ... here her "mini concert" from AGT the Champions (Watch out: With these videos other reactors have the most problems with copyright claims...): "Bohemian Rhapsody": kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZi0nZ2umsaBq68 "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road": kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIe1iIx7oJ2HaaM “Someone You Loved": kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpjSkId_opmdqqs Besides she is mostly making her very own arrangement there are some very interesting videos of her, where she uses the original arrangement or a big one of someone else like "I Have Nothing" (Whitney Houston Tribute) kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XGp6mFa6dmf9E or "Fly Me To The Moon" in the arrangement of Quincy Jones (rehearsal with concert mixed audio for his birthday party in the O2 arena): kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX7OqKKnirOBoac . And here is a video where it is explained (with English subtitles) why she performs barefoot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d16yfH-pobRqars and here an Interview in the Norwegian TV (with English subtitles) from 2015 after she has published her book about the story why she is barefoot when performing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5SmfXePZaiGkJo In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield"). So she is a real all-rounder and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next... All the other things like more recommendation, chronological playlists and so on you can read in the comments of the mega-fans like Fernando F., Rusty (AJ videos in chronological order kzbin.info/door/55am_6Y5-Fj4ri8xOInstA), Andy Schnell, ... And a little Question: When you react to her cover "I put a spell on you" b/w studio version at 9yo (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU - btw. she made most of her cover arrangements by herself!) it would be nice to react in the same reaction video IN ADVANCE to the original from Screemin' Jay Hawkins (from 1956 - Live: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZyqgZumq9anhcU or another version of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/paOxoXtsnt6ioas and here a version from 1990 in Tokyo - I feel, this is like the version Angelina has taken as the model, but I don't know it ( ;-) ): kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJOckppul8iblbc or as Audio-Studio-Version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmPGlaF3itumrZo) that's real fun :-D - and than you will find out that Angelinas cover is a real tribute to Jay Hawkins :-D Thanks a billion again for your reaction! … and see you soon with your next AJ reactions - with greetings from Berlin/Germany :-D Best regards Andreas

The abrupt ending (and the fact that the last note doesn't resolve) are, I believe, both intentional reflections of the loss and uncertainty that happens when we lose a loved one. She designs, she sews, she paints and draws, she speaks Norwegian, Farsi, Japanese (and sings) and of course English as her third language? Any effect you hear coming out of Angelina’s mouth is there by want not by mistake. The scratchiness and vocal fry are kinda her trademarks. This song she wrote expressing the loss of her grandfather makes some vocal choices that are made just to let you feel her pain! She intends to have this song as a comfort for otherd going through the pain of a great loss! Sometimes making you feel the message is more important than the vocal technique! On the last never alone she makes me feel her pain!

Angelina has had that raspy voice when speaking as well as singing since she was a small child. Her voice has always naturally moved toward her soft palate and nasal cavities. Only when she really focuses on more breath support and using her chest voice does her voice then clean up a bit. So, it may just be the way her voice naturally works. Difficult to say without actually being able to see her vocal cords in 3d while she sings, right. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Zoe, I just came across your Chanel & isn’t Angelina just superb. I am rather fussy to whom I subscribe to, but listening to your in depth appraisal of Angelina’s performance, I have immediately subscribed to your Chanel. I only subscribe to those I believe have great general music knowledge as many reactors don’t have such knowledge, and basically pander to us, the viewers. All I want is an honest appraisal, which, listening to you, I’m sure you’ll give. This may be a rather long post, but please bear with me. There is a young Soprano by the name of Amira Willighagen who won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine, & did so without a single singing lesson. She taught herself by watching uTube videos featuring the likes of Pavarotti, mimicking the mouth movements and breathing techniques. She commenced practicing at age 7. Since her win, she engaged a vocal coach & has since, like Angelina , performed in some 20 countries and sung in at least 5 languages. Opera was not my preferred music genre until I heard her magnificent voice, & I now listen to her daily. Her voice is not only powerful, but the clarity is superb, even in her top register which she performs without strain & does so effortlessly. Amira is a true Soprano with a delightful voice & beautiful vibrato. Her transition from one register to another is smooth & well connected. It’s even difficult at times to know whether it’s her chest voice or head voice. Anyway, I have listed a few of her performances for your reaction consideration. ... Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church at age 11. This is an incredibly powerful & emotion packed performance. ... Nella Fantasia at age 12. Suggest the live concert performance ... Gabriella’s Song at age 14 . Again suggest the live performance. ... Sound of Music medley at age 15. Amira sings about one octave above the original by Julie Andrews and absolutely nails it. Again , sorry to be so long winded, but I thought you may be interested. Cheers, Graeme ps. Amira has been properly coached / managed over her short career insofar as the number of performances & ensuring her vocal chords are not overtaxed. Amira was 17 years old 3 days ago.

Great review/analysis! I agree about the abrupt ending. However, I wouldn't want any more notes but rather a natural sustain to fade out of the last note. Then it occurred to me that since Angelina wrote this song for her grandfather who had recently passed away, the abrupt ending may be deliberate and therefore symbolic and poetic in its own way.

Actually her parents had to hold her back, because all she wanted since the age of three, was to take her grandma's jazz songs to stage and sing them for Simon... So the pressure was all on the parents in way, to give her the semblance of a normal childhood, and not get consumed by the machine 😂

Angelina has pushed her life of singing her parents have allowed her to sing as long as her schooling came first, yes her family is very protective but hardly have pushed her to succeed,, they have even gone as far as only limiting the recording contract to minimal work until her schooling is complete,, and republic records know what they have and Have been good so far in sticking with the family's wishes ,, Angelina will make any sound she wants to make on covers and on her originals if she stays in the lines of what some people say is correct then she would not be where she is today, I personally like the sounds no matter what any coach or critic might think,, Angelina Jorden has accomplished more in her 16years at this point Than most people accomplish in a life time...

I do wonder a year later if you've heard her do "I'd rather go blind", or "I have nothing". You seemed so concerned about her pushing her voice too hard in unhealthy ways. Those two songs would really have you scared, but then you'd see she somehow can still sing, and around that time, a year to two before this song, put out loads of songs. There are so many insanely great vocals in so many different ways from her. So I hope the comments that maybe imply your analysis doesn't apply to her isn't taken harshly, and that you went ahead and checked out a lot more. You check out 'my funny valentine' from this year, a more subtle one that is maybe a masterpiece vocally and you know she hasn't hurt anything and has only grown all her tools.

Hi. I understand you focus on technicalities, but in the whole picture it seems that you totally missed out how AJ putting her heart and soul into every performance. She adds so much emotions into each performance, that will hit everybody straight in their hearts, expect you, who only tries to give her advice, (like she needs advice?). I wonder how vocal coaches can even give a single advice to someone that is on such a level that you never ever can dream of. There are lots of singers out there, that hit the notes, know the lyrics but never put any emotions into their performances. Thats what make AJ so outstanding.

I watched your facial expression when she got up high. You're the only one on every reaction video who didn't seem to enjoy it. You got your technical book out but Angelina knows exactly what she is doing. Maybe she could give you a lesson. Stunning vocals. Nothing to critique.
@ZoeStibiVocalCoach3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, this wasn't a critique it is more because I know young singers want to emulate the sounds and I want people to do it under supervision. I did at the end take it back though once I had heard the clean tone. If she has been signed off by an ENT and had a clean scope I would gladly eat my own words. I think we want to hear so much of the scratch in singing these days that when you do it without regular Dr's supervision you can potentially cause serious injuries to your voice.
@tomohare74003 жыл бұрын
Ok, makes sense since you explained it that way. I've seen a few vocal coaches react and haven't heard that analogy before. I do respect though your care for young singers.
@rev.bobertbockstop70573 жыл бұрын
I’ve known Angelina since she was a tiny girl. Your reactions are sometimes pretty good but some of your comments on her vocal production are just off the mark. Also your assumption that as a winner of Norway’s Got Talent she was subjected to intense pressure to perform most of her life so far was way off the mark. The family of Angelina has been and continues to be fiercely protective of her childhood and how and when her talents are used. Her vocal coaching is some of the best in the world. Nothing she does is outside the capability of her voice. Her voice has never been abused in any way. She has not ever been PUSHED TO DO. Not ever. Do not assume she has STAGE PARENTS or anything like. She does not. Your criticisms of vocal usage by her is also off the mark. Everything sh e does is intentional. Besides that she does not have to break away and do things her way! Ridiculous. She has been a jazz and blues lover since she could barely talk. Her choice. Her spirit and exposure to this music was a natural outgrowth of her preference at that very young age wherever it was that preference came from. It was internal. Your squints and smirks of what you perceive as damaging mistakes are off the mark so far they have no meaning. I suspect your critical acumen is not up to the task of analyzing a naturally gifted singer such as Angelina. Her contract with Republic Records includes her absolute right to write, sing, arrange, orchestrate exactly what she wishes. She does not have to struggle against the industry to do the music that calls to her. You are projecting your own struggles perhaps and wrongly criticizing perceived flaws where what you are encountering is actually pure technique. She knows what she is doing every second she sings. Her voice is healthy and will remain so for decades to come. Again, you are just not up to the task of understanding or analyzing this otherworldly talent. I am not a fanboy or club member. I am one who knows FIRSTHAND not second hand or by wish or rumor. A bit of research about the singer you are reacting to would be appropriate.
