Christi thank you very much for this wonderful and interesting new reaction, I am happy to see that you have chosen her first song for RR ❤️ Truly this is a very sweet and very intense song, dedicated with infinite love to the maternal grandfather who passed away in 2019 and also to all the people who have lost someone they loved, but it's also a song full of hope and love, with beautiful lyrics, above all because written by a girl of only 14 years. Her first release was in November with a sweet version of lyrics and drawings, but this beautiful live version, which finally allows us to see her sing almost a year after her last public performance at AGTC, is priceless! 🤗 ❤️

I read that this song was in memory of her grandfather who was married to her maternal grandmother Mery Zamini. Mery met and married him when she was an Iranian student studying in Japan. While living in Norway her grandfather was very involved in charity work and used to take Angelina with him to help. Mery is very close to Angelina and, apparently, so too was this gentleman.

Christy many thanks for your reaction to our barefoot princess. I am trying to wrap my head around the possibility Angelina's voice will continue to develop for 10 more years. I think Angelina has done well so far in taking care of her vocal instrument. She rarely belts or goes out of her comfort zone. Many other vocalists try to reach new heights on a regular basis and that can't be a good thing over the long term. Angelina has demonstrated tremendous maturity through her young life, giving hope of a very bright future. Her empathy needs to be admired as well. I read she has been buying meals for the homeless in Los Angeles. Angelina is my all time favorite musical artist and she inspires me to be a better person.

What a nice comment! ❤ We need young people who show great hearts and great compassion for others! Well done Angelina, well said Andy 😉
@rotorhead1942 described this song's background and genesis extensively. So there you have a lot of information, Christi. The fact that this young lady and her new record label decided that her debut would be this type of song, with a meaningful message, speaks loads about Angelina's personality and character. Kind, caring and humble. One thing I wanted to point out about Angelina is that she KNEW what she wanted to do in life since she was a small child. Since the earlier recordings we have of her, you'll find she has always been such a professional about her career! Even though she and her family wanted to take it slowly but steadily, she has worked all these years to develop and nurture her craft, and this song is a demonstration that at barely 15 she has achieved heights that other artists and musicians won't ever achieve. Another thing is that she has always been "at home", confident and relaxed when singing. She describes the feeling as going to another place in her mind, another realm, so to speak. And the most amazing fact is that she's able to grab the listeners' attention and make them accompany her on the journey, each going to their own place her voice conjures for them. Last but not least is the quality and tone of this video. Angelina's voice, a piano and a cello. Black and white reminiscing her "I Put a Spell On You" video and also, referencing her grandpa's passing being dressed in black. When she did a tribute to Freddie Mercury singing "The Show Mus Go on" she also dressed in black, something she doesn't usually do. Well, I stop blabbering now, haha. The fact is that Angelina has many layers to be peeled and discovered 😊

I believe that a major reason she signed with Republic is because they have a reputation for allowing artists to chart their own direction, which is very different than what we know about most record labels. Back in 2014 this little 7 year old girl first struck a world dumb with a talent that most said was God given. She became known by many as "The Barefoot Princes of Music". Throughout her years growing up we all where mesmerized by this little girl with the Old sole and the voice and stile of Amy Winehouse and Billie Holiday. By age 12 we all knew she was destined to greatness and many in the Music industry where reacting either by vying to sign her or hoping to silence her. Cover after cover she brought back hits that the music industry either could not duplicate or match and she did it with her own style and not only matched them but made them better in a way that was humble and showed respect to those that she copied. Every one was whispering and wondering what would happen when she got older, could she wright her own stuff and could she sing fresh material or was she just a mimic. Most of her fans knew the answers to those and we have waited. Any one that sings as she does from a place of Joy in the art, respect for those who she has learned from and real Happiness in her ability to make others feel happy was destine to greatness. Her secret weapon was faith in her self, her craft and her family. She never thought about the money only making beautiful music. Now here we are, She steps out on the stage still barefoot, still the pretty young girl we all love but she has her own voice now, her own words that she has begin to express at the age of just 15. With them she has gone from the Bare foot Princes Growing in to the confidant caring and thoughtful Queen of her profession. How can that title be hers, She embodies all the best qualities of those she benefitted from, Heart, strength of commitment, and character. A real love of her talent and her art that is not driven by greed but of the pure desire to do what she loves and in a way that embodies all the best traits of her idols and mentors. To this I can only add, Long Live the Queen.

But she seemed to me like an excited kid absorbing the experience of entering a large shiny candystore. Her happy place - thats clearly singing on stage to a large crowd. She did a tribute to her late grandfather earlier. This song is about her second grandfather who died recently. She mentioned that on her Patreon, it was a huge blow to the family. I would just like to comment on Angelina's vocal diction; it's superb often times. I like how she usually very clearly pronounces or enunciates consonant sounds such as the letter "t" at the end of a sentence. She's been doing this since she was a tyke if you look back, for example in I Put a Spell on You, when she says, "I ain't lyin'..." she pronounces that "t" on "ain't" quite clearly and I've always appreciated singers that can do that or choose to do it. It's true that at times she doesn't pronounce the words with perfect clarity but it seems when it's truly needed she does so. Steve Perry was also very consistent in doing this during his Journey years.

Christi, how are you? Love your hair! It's been a long time but I've been solidly aboard the Angelina journey throughout 2020 and (finally) into 2021. I read some of the comments below and they have filled you in on a lot about her grandpa. The underscored message of the song in tribute to her grandpa is never take anything for granted. She wished she could have spent more quality time with him and, although he is still with her in spirit, it's not the same. And, when she composed the song she wanted to write it in a way that people who have been in a similar situation could find comfort from her song. Yes, she is a remarkable now 15 yr older and is an absolute joy to follow. You were right to point out how her masses of followers are very loyal and will be with her, in a word, forever. When she sings she touches a person's heart and once that occurs, that's it. She will never leave. She is absolutely irresistible. And combine that with the fact she happens to be a beautiful person, a humanitarian (since she was 6 yrs old)(the barefoot story), her dedication to support children's charities and she believes the power of love is the most important element in people's lives and her goal is to pass the love in her heart to everyone who listens to her sing. Christi, you mentioned "pop" and also a desire to write music that could be classified as independent. She will probably do both. Pop to attract a larger, global following but also her personal messages of love for people who "know who she is" and believe her to be a genuine being who will always be there to provide comfort to those in need. Often times, we get caught up in the daily business activities of everyday life, but settling back and listen to Angelina sing to you will soften you heart and probably provoke a tear or two while remembering love is what it is all about. Yes, Angelina is love.

Angelina said in an interview that it was a tremendous relief to produce this song, to get the feelings out. Losing her grandpa, followed by the pandemic, has been challenging for this sensitive youngster. In her words, the tears flowed in the studio while recording.

On her patreon channel Angelina shared that while the pandemic was and is a tragic time and has kept her from performing live (something she loves to do), the break has also freed her to just hang out, write music, dress any way she wants, and just live more relaxed and stress free. Concerning her creation of "Million Miles", while it was specifically written as a tribute to her deceased grandfather, here's what she told "American Songwriter" in an interview: “The song is really about everyone and reminding us that we are never alone because we as humans, our biggest fear as human beings are that we are very afraid of being alone or losing someone....I have been writing a lot of songs, but I decided on this song because of a feeling it gave me. I’ve never felt that feeling before. When I write a song, it is mostly from my experiences. Music for me has always been my passion. It’s been clear to me what kind of music I want to make. With this song, when I created the melody and lyrics, it started out totally different than what it turned out to be. It felt like something was guiding me in the studio....I think everybody in the studio was aware that something magical was happening....When I was in the booth, while I was singing, my tears were running....To be honest, it was like a feeling of relief that all my feelings were written down and I felt relieved. “Million Miles” means a lot to me because it is relevant to these difficult times. I definitely want to share my love to everyone, and I hope that people can connect with it and relate to the story behind the song.” I hope this helps you and others understand where Angelina was coming from when she composed and performed this song. I always love your reactions Christi. Your comments are always intelligent and informative, while at the same time gentle and loving. Thank you for that. Best wishes. 💕💕

Thank you. 💖 I wrote a much longer response then fumble fingered it into oblivion. Suffice to say that it means a lot to hear an expert validate "our" expectations and wonder we feel when we hear this beautiful soul do what she does so well. I really enjoy your approach and feedback. 🔥😁💖 ✌️😎

You are correct she did write this song for her grandfather. Infant she wrote tis song before she signed with Republic Records. She performed it for one of the founders of the Company and was offered on the spot.

First time reacting always love hearing the perspective of Vocal Coaches but when it comes nerves she has nerves of steel have watched every performance of hers Thousands of times, she was once interviewed and asked if she ever feels nervous in front of big crowds and she had to ask her interpreter what that meant. I just hope Republic Records does right by her because part worries they signed her so she did not start covering Taylor Swift their big moneymaker, because in my opinion as well as many their is not an artist out there now who can even bring to the table what she does.

And surely, Republic realizes Angelina's base will probably last as long as Angelina is available to her audience.

Hi Christi. Thank you so much for such an insightful and sensitive reaction to Angelina's songs. I, too, feel as if she has shot way up, since she has been signed. The same kind of "in my element" you hear with Million Miles is even more obvious in her latest original, Seventh Heaven. I don't want to say too much, for people who haven't seen it, but to me, the song makes me happy, because she is so obviously enjoying writing herself exactly into her favorite wheelhouse. I can't see that you've reacted to Seventh Heaven yet, but if you have, please accept my apologies.

The guy playing the piano is multiple Grammy winning producer Rob Christie, he’s chief executive for RR in California, so she’s in good hands, incidentally the studio is in his home.

This song is dedicated to anyone who has lost a loved one. I wrote this song thinking about all the great memories I had with my grandpa and how much it hurts to lose someone. I hope this song finds a place in your heart, as it comes straight from mine." 👣💯 *AJ* 💯👣
