In the days after Aretha's passing, there were many artists belting out her tunes. Angelina went a different way. She sat down with sorrow in her eyes, and mourning in her voice, and delivered this soft, peaceful tribute. This is someone who's whole life is music, paying her respects to a fallen legend. Also take note that she intentionally faded out and left 10 seconds of black screen at the end of that video. ...a moment of silence for Aretha. Angelina is well beyond her years not just in voice... she also seems to have a sort of emotional wisdom that usually only comes with many decades of life experience. It's great to see you back, Jorrell!

Thank you for this video and your reaction. This was a tribute to Aretha Franklin and was recorded few days after her passing away. Angelina purposely kept the tone down as a sign of respect while many singers were trying to imitate and outdo Aretha Franklin. The video ends up with few seconds of black screen as a sign of mourning. Very respectful to this legend.

Well, of course I love Angelina's tribute to this fallen icon. The fade to black at the end was subtle and touching. But your reaction was one of the best I have seen. Thank you for that. Here's what I posted on another channel where the reactor questioned Angelina's ability to go high in this song. 😎💕 What a beautiful tribute to Aretha. Much of the time, she's almost at a whisper. Very hard to do. But the impact is very emotional. And her arrangement going low is just beautiful. Again, very hard for a woman to do, much less a 12 year old girl. I think I like this version better than any I've heard; it really touches my emotions. And her fade to black at the end just shows how incredibly sensitive she is. Again, she shows that she is the total package. And I assure you, if she wanted to go the high route, she would be able to do that. She's already show us that range is not a problem. If you haven't reacted to "I Have Nothing", she puts to rest any criticism about her upper range. And she performs the song one key higher than the original Whitney version. So if she had wanted to belt the high notes on this song, she could have done that. But think about it, her version was soft and gentle and touching. Belting would have been the antithesis of what see was trying to accomplish. When we go into a performance of a song with preconceived expectations, we often can't appreciate the artist new rendition of that song. Look what she did with "California Dreamin'", "Wicked Game", "Bohemian Rhapsody", and others. All songs that I had preconceived notions about. When it's Angelina, I just let those conceptions relax and say "Take me somewhere I haven't been". And you know what, she almost always does that. As I said above, I always love your Angelina reactions, and I look forward to many more.

In time I will bet that Angelina Jordan will be praised and admired with great artists like Aretha Frankin. I wait with anticipation for Angelina to post another performance and each time I am surprised at her ability to make each song hers like she wrote the piece. Who else can cover pieces ranging from Billie Holiday, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Queen, Whitney Houston, Adele to country artists like Patsy Cline and make each piece her own?!!! When she finally goes to release her music commercially she'll be in a position to dictate terms to everyone involved because there won't be any shortage of people who want a part of this sensational artist! Go Angelina. You deserve fame and fortune!!!

Hi! Thank you for another excellent reaction to Angelina. It is easy to run out of appropriate words when trying to describe how her singing affects one emotionally. As you so rightly say, "She is the song". I keep a spreadsheet of all those reacting to Angelina's performances. Prior to her exposure on AGTTC there were 89 Reactors following her. As at today there are 339 and between them they have featured Angelina 2,484 times. I am currently working on listing the songs each reactor has featured and the number of views each song has received. It is a task where I can see completion is still a long way in the future:-)

I enjoy them every time (and even many times, each and every one). This is a realy great performance. Maybe not just a sample Angelina did in this video. As she did this tribute for the great Aretha Franklin shortly after she passed away, this short cut version is probably Angelinas intended way, ending it short into the black schreen. Quite a strong symbolic way as Angelina pays her respect for one of her big inspirational personalities of music.

But as Rusty said, she interpreted the song her own way, as a real tribute, respectfully and beautiful as only she can. Also, you're right! Everyone who listens to her is magically sucked into her world, hypnotized as it were. And even if she's singing alone in her home or for a couple thousand people she'll just grab everyone!

GreyWolf - Another great reaction! I loved your face when you expected her to go high on "You make me feel" and she went down into her low register. Everyone I have ever seen had the same reaction. She goes as low as G3 which, as her voice is developing, is not too unusual for her age, but the richness and intonation she gives to that note is astounding! It's too bad Aretha didn't have the opportunity to hear this. I wonder what her reaction would have been. I don't know if Carole King (the composer, along with Gerry Goffin) has heard it, but I would like to think she would approve. Keep the Angelina reactions coming!

I am crying like a baby! I cannot believe how she gets to me. You are right no matter what the venue she is going to make it seem that she is just singing for you. She has complete control of her vibrato. She can speed it up like she does here, or slow it down when called for. Every song she sings sounds familiar and yet different.That's how she owns the songs because the subtle changes she makes create such a different feel that you forget who the original artist was.

A comment on the dimensionality Angelina makes in her songs in particular. This song was a tribute to the recently deceased Aretha Franklin for her seriousness, black dress, and an anguished voice almost to shed a goodbye tear. Generally, listeners do not understand that this teenager is much more than a singer, she is a master of the song, her observation of music goes beyond the senses of a standard professional musician. Hmm. Last I heard, she wanted to become a "superstar" (she literally used that word) and a singer known around the world. (Granted, she was much younger when she said those things.) Have you heard her say otherwise? If you're basing what you're saying here on what we've all seen her do over the past 6 years, keep in mind that her career up to this point has reflected what her _family_ has wanted for her. She won't have control over her own career for another 2 years (I think - it is my understanding that the legal age in Norway is 16). Until then we can make assumptions, but we can't really know for sure what she wants (much less what she will actually do).

She want to do konsert all over the world now and then but she wants to be a free person without having guards around her all the time. She want to control her life totally by her self... :-) She wants to live a normal life here in Norway with her family and friends and walk in the streets without to much problems. But already now, i doubt she can....
