I’m and avid fan from the UK. I can’t understand why Angelina isn’t more well known across here. I show my friends her videos, they are impressed by her singing ability, but choose not to listen to more of it. Maybe it is the type of music.

I'm also a fan from the UK . Its correct ANGELINA is not well known here .the only appearance I'm aware of was little big shots aged 10 ? I think. I wonder what age group your friends are , ANGELINA does seem to appeal to the older age group . mind you same goes for ADELE . and she's no flop is she.

Angelina said her biggest achievement was singing for Quincy Jones in London. Saw that concert and also the one in Norway on 10th July. Before she started singing she said she knew that fans had come from all over the world so she would speak in English and Norwegian so everyone would understand. Spoke to her Mum at the concert - she speaks fluent English and she said she was surprised that all the concerts were sold out. I flew over from the UK but met people who had travelled all over to get there - furthest one I think was from New Zealand.

Great reaction Paul. You have to consider that Angelina has never had a promotion from record companies and they are the ones that impose artists on television and radio channels, so all of her fans come from KZbin and FB, lately also from Instagram, but obviously they are limited numbers even if larges in proportion. In the US she has been spread thanks to AGTC and the numerical base of potential fans is much wider. In Italy she is practically unknown. 💛🧡❤️

Welcome to Angelina in her native Norway. She did this festival almost every year from right after winning Norway's Got Talent at 8 yrs old till about 11. Great reaction. I am waiting for more reactors to jump on these new performances. I have heard after Allsang Pa Grensen held at Fredriksten which is a fortress in the city of Halden in Norway and where she did only two performances, she did about 17 songs in her performance at Kurbadhagen of which I have seen only about a half dozen including a new performance of 'Love On the Brain' and a couple of new Amy Winehouse songs. Can't wait for more to come out. ♥👣👸🏻 Check out this one.Angelina Jordan (16) «Tears dry on their own» live at Kurbadhagen 1th of July 2022 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZuqnKmabc2nf5I Angelina really brings Amy back in this one. ♥👣👸🏻 or this one. 'Valerie' kzbin.info/www/bejne/nICknqqIr9-epqM Or how about a little 'Love On the Brain'. Just amazing. Far cry from the performance in her music corner at home. kzbin.info/www/bejne/baCkhKuNqdOnirc all at Kurbadhagen. Greeting from The Land of Vikings, home of The Kensington Runestone, and the largest population of Norwegian Heritage in America, Mid-Minnesota. ♥👣👸🏻

Hi, Paul! Clocking in from New Zealand. I have followed Angelina since her audition at Norway's Got Talent and know of several fans from NZ - not personally but from comments they have posted on KZbin and Facebook. The American public were very slow off the mark in recognising Angelina's talent and versatility. Indeed, it wasn't until she appeared on America's Got Talent - The Champions, released on 6 Jan 2020, that they woke up. :-) Up to that point, there were only 79 Reactors who had discovered her and reacted to her performances. Now there are about 2,000.

The use of the word "Allowed" - could mean a couple of things - Sara and Uncle Mike manage her performance bookings I believe - Also, she is now under contract with Republic Records which may affect some of the songs she can perform in public if they haven't been released on her upcoming album yet - Or - it could just be a translation issue with a specific word that Angelina is using speaking in Norwegian that may be misinterpreted as "allowed" rather than something else. Also, as another commenter in this thread mentioned - COVID has placed a lot of travel and performance restrictions over the past two years.

Great reaction and there is a popular reactor from Brazil, Zeus! That survey is based on You Tubers which is largely from the U.S. But I believe she is better known in Europe and Asia than the U.S., from her touring and being invited to open for the Likes of Nora Jones in South Korea in front of 40,000 fans, the Pultzer Peace Prize Concert and etc. Hder family is keeping her career slow intentionally. The reason she said allowed, she has an unusual contract with Republic Records not afforded to other Artist. The only reason Republic agreed was they knew they have the Golden Goose that will lay the Golden Eggs. They have the intelligence to know they will do better letting her do her thing. Similar to what Shania Twain went through. For 10 years the contract she was under she had to rely on other writers and her career was Okay. Once her husband took over as Manager got her a contract she could do her own music and History speaks for itself, God Bless!

Guess that why she do so much in social platforms and many discovered her on net because of covid rules . It was amazing to hear her and she was so happy to finally perform again. She was relaxed and sang beautifully. Great reaction. Norwegian subscriber that will tune in for next. Keep up your good work.

Pretty sure Angelina was referring to the covid restrictions which, now lifted, "allowed" her to return to her beloved Norway. Music-wise, besides her mom insisting that she revise lyrics from time to time (which will likely wan a little over time as I think she did with Mount Everest), there is little evidence that anyone has so far pushed her in any direction other than largely what she wanted. Republic might someday, but if they are smart (and they are), they will find a way to with her achieve both their commercial goals and Angelina's artistic ones. Also, who knows who provided the translation text for the interview.

Hello from Norway 🙂 Nice that you enjoyed the interview. Interesting statistics there. We have roughly 5M people in Norway, as compared to roughly 300M in the US (That is 60 times the number of people) so I guess percentage wise, the discrepancy isn't all that surprising. As a native Norwegian, I can hear Angelina fumble quite a bit when she speaks Norwegian, which leads me to believe that they're actually speaking English a lot in her family. You know, Angelina speaks 5 different langusges, so I guess it's kinda hard to be fluent in all of them. Não sabia que você fala português também, e também não sabia que você é da África do Sul. I have watched a lot of your reactions, all of your reactions to Angelina at least, but it's hard picking up on everything 🙂 Take care and have a great weekend ♥♥♥♥♥

Well when you figure the fact the population of the USA...The Analytics that make a difference unfortunately for Angelina is who watch ..Men like me 50 to 65 , that's great if she just wants to be a Jazz singer. However, if she really wants to be the superstar (that she claimed) then she needs to change her fan base.

Let's not forget Japan as well. I believe she is also going to Japan to do some concerts as well. There is a video of her performing at an event in Japan where she sings in English and sings another song in Japanese as well here on KZbin. . Her father, Gerry Christian Slattman, is Swedish. Her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar, is the daughter of Iranian artist and poet Mery Zamani and a Japanese father.

You have to take into account the population size of the various countries. I think that Norway has a population of about 5 million people, New York city alone is 8 million. So, yes the largest part of her fan base is from the U.S. All of Norway knows who she is, she's a national treasure. Not all of the US knows who she is. That's why she's in Los Angeles, the US is the big market and what hits it big there is noticed by the rest of the world. What I don't understand is why she isn't better known in Great Britain, they need to look up and take notice

When she says "I was allowed to.." different things around music, she refers to 1. Concerts and flights where canceled for about two years due to covid. The Kurbadhagen concerts where supposed to take place in 2020. Maybe the Jazz festival as well. But we were not allowed to travel or play/attende concerts etc 2. She has had the opertunety to work whit the extremely experienced musicians, producers studios etc that Republic Records has to offer. So. Not being allowed to travel and sing due to covid And, having the opertunety to work whit people she otherwise wouldn't have had..

The translation is a bit funky. When AJ say "fått lov til" (translated to "been allowed") this is at core correct. But being allowed is a humble phrase in Norway. It is what a Norwegian skier may say after winning an Olympic gold medal: "I am lucky enough to have been allowed to stand here today" (even though everyone knows that the real reason is "dude you did not skimp one of your 3 training sessions per day in the last decade". In other words, it is seen as bad taste to blow your own horn in Scandinavia, thus we bless our luck that allowed us to "come this far". Nobody will just straight up say "I worked harder than anyone else on the planet for this and I deserve it". You say "I was lucky enough to be allowed this opportunity". It was really interesting to hear about your analytics. I must confess thaweI thought us Norwegians would be more dominant. But then again - she has been away for 3 years (Covid). Thus not much radio circulation. Not TV interviews. Plus of course, Aurora, Sigrid, Astrid S and a suit of others are busy developing their substantial international audiences, thus stealing the thunder as they run around on big intercontinental tours. I am glad on AJ's behalf though. Having an international audience before you have even started advertising your first (international) album is a solid start for any artist. And us who have seen her live (in real life and via TV) - she will do fine for herself when Steven Colbert introduces a teenager from Norway in a while.
@tchemmer
@tchemmer Жыл бұрын
It's all about the size of the populations of the various countries. Only a tiny percentage of the US population has even heard of AJ, but that's still a lot of people. Everyone in Norway knows about her, but that's not a lot of people. If she can just get that one big hit, get that radio airplay, she will see interest from all over the world. Think of Alan Walker with "Faded" It only takes one song

I think when she says 'allowed' to perform she's talking about Covid restrictions when no one was putting on live shows. When she says 'allowed' to create music, I think that's more of a restriction in working with people and getting into the studio to record. That's my take on it, it's just not clear from the interview that that's what she meant.
