Hey my wonder twins! Elvis was the first white male to actually show the world that he had unstoppable rhythm. Before him, only other races would actually show their rhythm. (I no it’s such a stupid thing, but I’m so glad I grew up in the 1980-90s.) But u guys r right - the rhythm took him over and it’s trancelike! Take care dolls.

I disagree that Elvis made you feel the words. His songs were about him and his showmanship.A lot of singers do that,. Angelina focuses on the meaning of the songs. She is a storyteller. She focuses on telling the meaning and feelings.

Absolutely agree Bob. This is a great song and Angelina treated it with the respect it deserved. On this occasion, Elvis did not - it was about the show, not the song. The line "shove it up your nose" which he inserted is a clue. I am an Elvis fan. I have Elvis cds & old vinyl lps which I have been playing for decades. At his best he was the King. At this point he was a mess.

Oh grow up. Now we’re talking about his live performance which was brilliant showmanship Elvis performed it much differently in the studio then the live version and he did each one perfectly differently. Yes I can feel the words in the studio version. Thank god he does the live version much differently. Elvis is both a studio genius and performer genius. When this woman with superb vocals starts touring and she can keep you attention for over an hour then we’ll talk. If your the type of person who can sit there for more then an hour just looking to hear wonderful vocsls then she is for you. I want to hear great vocals plus be entertained Elvis didn’t become king because he loved to hear himself. He knows how to differetiate from studio to live performing.

Right Bill .. this is for sure worthy a Grammy .. also like her latest of "I have nothing" .. even these are not official released as a Music Track to enter the Charts and Stations of the World .. I guess both of these are on her 1st Album .. because why did she upload them on her Official Channel and not on her Cover Channel?? .. so many things to speculate .. and I guess until her Album release we get some more "Ear-Candy" very soon and in maybe a shorter time period .. and in case you didn't see it .. Angelina also dropped her 'Allsang Pa Grensen' live Performance today on her Official Channel ..

It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute. Don’t forget she writes music and was the youngest author in Norway to publish a book. No loud band, no light show, no dancers, just two instruments to accompany the MAGIC that Angelina Jordan brings like no one else can. At 7 she was killing us, at 16 she is taking us places we have never been. What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. She has written a number of songs.

@@larrypifer1103 I guess it depends on how one interprets your statement, Larry: "AJ plays guitar, ..piano, violin and flute". I didn't see the "ability to play" in that statement, so the average reader would assume that she actually "plays" those instruments now, when in fact she hasn't played the flute or violin in about 10 years. And I would guess that since she hasn't played them, her "ability" to do so would be very limited.

Elvis Presley owned Graceland (research that), and Angelina Jordan entered Graceland, uncovering the furniture, looking up at the elegant chandeliers, and singing Suspicious Minds in a reminiscent, melancholy way, as though she were still grieving the huge loss of Elvis, as we all still are. Again, she understands her audience, and can take our heartstrings and just twist them to a point of emotional entanglement around the words she sings. She is dressed for the era, and mostly carries that guitar to bring more authenticity to the song.

Nostalgia. The 'second hand antiques' environment is nostalgic. Her hair duplicates the 70's era. Priscilla Presley wore her hair high and long much like Angelina's in the video. This rendition depicting such reminiscing, the guitar, the microphone, the old piano, wealth of chandeliers, her sways, her clothes, the children (memories)... absolutely brilliant! I was 8yo when Elvis came to Stockton, California. He performed at the Stockton Auditorium. I am now 72yo... he was a BIG deal! Movie star, Military, Performer... Records sold worldwide by the millions. His earlier years were very robust. Personally fueled by drugs to keep him up, and to keep him down (to rest). He was completely controlled by "The Colonel". Driven to suicide by ambitious money hungry greedy people, and could no longer perform as agile, he just wanted to STOP! So, he overdosed and died, age 42. He is now resting in Graceland TN, his home.

You guys are really fun and seem to appreciate true talent! And im sure many people have probably already suggested this to you guys, but if you havent had the chance to experience the enormous range of some seriously beautiful, truly deep & meaningful to the soul, songs & performances by Elvis, it really would be an awesome thing to watch your reactions towards some of those !Like #1- ELVIS PRESLEY "IF I CAN DREAM"(68 COMEBACK SPECIAL)-but the white suit version- #2-ELVIS PRESLEY "TRYING TO GET TO YOU"(LIVE 68 COMEBACK SPECIAL) #3 ELVIS PRESLEY "IN THE GHETTO" #4- ELVIS PRESLEY "ONE NIGHT WITH YOU" (LIVE 68 COMEBACK SPECIAL) Just to name a few, out of the many definite must see:) Anyway, again you may or probably have already watched these. But just in case you haven't, i think or i have a feeling that you guys would not only, really enjoy these specific performances and the way he sings in them. But you may also be surprised on how much your missing out if you dont truly experience him and his out of this world talent on all fronts. As well as the amazing joy & love he brings to the hearts of many who grew up listening to him and now to this generation,(which includes myself..lol) who are opening their minds & rediscovering the true depth of who he was and the unique voice & sound he carries throughout his songs, that can bring out every emotion you feel all at once! In any case, it would be really fun to watch your reaction to any of the songs i listed. But starting with ELVIS PRESLEY "IF I CAN DREAM"(68 COMEBACK SPECIAL)- the white suit version- Thanks guys! Much Love! ❤❤❤❤

Early in Elvis’s career, he was singing love songs and gospel with greater intention and feeling, with fewer gimmicks and silliness. Hello friends, I was born in 80 three years after Elvis died. I personally came to Angelina through Elvis because I was hear him a lot because I like more the music of the 60's and one day I heard the song "It's now or never" and right after Elvis jumped on KZbin the performance of Angelina who was 11 years old at the same time The time since every day I have to hear her voice, apparently I'm addicted to her like a person can't stop smoking cigarettes to distinguish a thousand thousands of differences of course. As for the music video and the genius of everything here, I'll let the people tell you. What is important to tell you is that you have between 10-20 songs performed by Angelina just to begin to understand what her abilities are and it is very good that you start seeing and hearing more of her because once her first record album is out there is no turning back, she will, with God's help, explode globally with her singing. My recommendation is to start from yesterday, not from today!!!🦶🦶 👑🗣🎙🎷

OMG!...I am such a fan of Angelina! I am beginning to think that she is an old soul singer reincarnated! Lol She sometimes reminds me of Amy Winehouse when she uses that raspiness. This rendition of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds: was awesome. I would love to hear what she can do with "I'll Never Fall In Love Again".I 🙏🙏🙏💞

Completely different song. Angelina's arrangement makes it more of a story or at least takes the story out of the core of Elvis version. Such a different feel. Absolutely beautiful.

As always, Angelina makes each cover her own while honoring the artist. The leather outfit and the red guitar is similar to what Elvis used in his 68 TV Special. The hair is similar to Priscilla's beehive hairdo from the 60s.

I think that the red guitar she used here is THE guitar from Elvis' 1968 Comeback Special 🙂 It's owned by the man on the piano, artistic director of Angelina's record label Republic Records, Rob Christie. That's what I've heard anyway 🙂

@@poolhallsharkyes, it's a similar copy. The actual Hagstrom Viking II Elvis used was loaned to him for the '68 Special. I read the original sold for more than 600,000.

@@darrowcelaya4310 Yes, I heard that, too. Sold to an Australian guy. But then I heard that it now belongs to Rob. I heard that it had been confirmed by Rob on his instgram account or smt like that. I haven't seen it myself though. Thanks for the feedback 👍

I have no idea why my comment aren’t showing Up. The way you saw Elvis was clownish.Really check out his early love songs his deep low vibrato went straight to the heart. I have pretty much everything of Angelina’s songs. I wouldn’t call her voice powerful. Her voice is soft ,deep, delicate and mesmerising.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.

This performance of elvises is meant live for a vegas crowd which he entertains completely to petfection you can compare his studio version to this and pick your poison. But if I was going to a live performance in vegas like I have done I much prefer Elvis.I guess when I’m ready to go to sleep I’ll put aj on the playlist

Yes I watched the Elvis movie and highly recommend it. Austin Butler deserves an oscar for his performance. I grew up listening to Elvis as my late father was a fan. We always listened to Blue Christmas over the holidays. What I especially loved about the movie was how the director brought in contemporary music and overlayed with the old... impressive! I don't know how I stumbled on your channel but so glad I did! I appreciated how you handled this... first learning about Elvis and then watching the video for Suspicious Minds to better understand before exploring Angelina Jordan's cover. I loved the piano at the beginning... it hinted at what was to come... I agree with what you shared and appreciate the respect she gives to the original and yet making it her own - a true artist! Thanks for this and I will definitely be exploring your channel and recommending it! Take care!!

As usual your review was interesting in its nuances, but I think you missed a pretty important comparison. Elvis seemed to approach the relationship he was singing about as being effectively doomed, This was the same impression I got from the song when I first heard it way back in the day, and it was reconfirmed the video you showed, is that he seems to be certain that "Suspicious Minds" would doom the relationship. Angelina's arrangement and her fantastic ability to use the her awesome vocal control put enough unspoken meaning and emphasis to indicate that the singer was thinking that with care and understanding the relationship could and should continue. This, to me, was an amazing reversal of Elvis' message in the song. She was acknowledging that "Suspicious Minds" were present and not good, but that with the history of love between the singer and the unseen partner carried enough weight of shared loving experiences that if the two them took care... the relationship was well worth saving and could succeed. AJ's arrangement and her wonderful voice emphasized "a cautious optimism". I found that the differences between Elvis's singing and AJ's was very interesting. His faster tempo and limited range in his arrangement almost seemed to say, "Let's get it over with." AJ's slower tempo and deeper tone presented a more soulful voice that to my ear seemed to be pleading to her unseen partner not to throw everything away, because of unfounded suspicions.

The outfit Angelina was wearing was a nod to the 1968 Comeback special Elvis did. Probably one of best Elvis concerts ever, none of the las vegas glitz, none of the boy next door romcom hero actor, just Elvis, performing.

My comments is simple, AJ a little girl prodigy doing her own rendition cover a legendary song, from one's of most musical icon in 20th century. I believe, Elvis has put up a smile at the heaven and finally found someone's able to pass down his legacy to a new era of music.

Angelina Jordan‘s grandmother was the executive producer of this video. The two young girls are her cousins and the older girl is her sister. The music video was shot in a family member’s antique store. She pays tribute to Elvis by wearing leather, having her hair styled the way Priscilla wore it when she was married to Elvis, and she is wearing blue suede boots which you can see when she sits on the loveseat. Lastly, The guitar she plays was actually owned by Elvis Presley. It was on loan to her or this video 🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦

It should help you understand his impact on the music you are reacting to. Not to mention if you do it soon you will be getting thousands of views. "Depth" is the magic word. Everything about this video was spectacular, the set, Rob Christie on the keys and, of course, Angelina. She told us the story of the song like no other and that's what she does. The second time is better? The 3rd, 4th, and on and on it gets better and better each time. I don't know about you but I don't believe there is anyone like her or that there has never been anyone like her, ever. The depth and range of her voice combined with her soulful and a hint of jazz delivery makes her very unique but that's only half of it. When you heart gets touched by her because her soulfulness is so genuine and it transforms into a strong and yet sensitive voice, full of love, your heart cannot resist. When she sings and the song is over our comment is always, "Oh, it's over already?" With most great artists they have the ability to draw you in and entertain you to a degree where you really appreciate their efforts. Then the song is over. With Angelina, once the song is over it stays with the listener to a degree whereby they will never forget the song and will play it over and over and their reaction each time will be like it was the fist time they heard her sing the song.

Angelina Jordan (born Angelina Jordan Astar; 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian singer now living in Los Angeles, whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday, became a viral video online and brought her worldwide press coverage at the age of 8.[ She went on to win the competition with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime". Since then she has worked to raise millions of dollars on behalf of environmental causes and children's charities around the world. She always performs barefoot, after befriending a young shoeless girl and giving her shoes to her. Jordan wrote a book about the experience and became the youngest published author in Norway.
