Thanks Paulie for the history of the song and it was the last big hit for Billie Holiday in 1958, the year I was born. Angelina's talent for crafting each song is truly remarkable. She always takes me on a journey through the song.

Such a great performance, right up there with Billie Holiday's in my opinion. Billie Holiday has that character in her voice born of life experience, but Angelina has a silky smoothness cut with that rasp that casts such a sultry mood. Remember she's only 11 here. How will she sing this when she has worldly experience of her own behind her? It is incredible to contemplate. I strongly recommend buying the album It's Magic which you saw on the screen. This recording is one of the tracks.

It's so fascinating to watch the whole process from the recording room. The song is obviously firmly anchored in her head, at least the way she wants the lines and words to sound. It's a mistery how she can mimick Billie Holiday, but by adding the musical emotional content it's no longer mimicking. It becomes Angelina's song, but you still hear and feel Billie. It's like she wants to explain why she finds Billies singing so beautiful, but in the meantime she sings just as beautiful. 11 years old. Mindblowing and haunting!

Paulie, I think we all react the way you did, feeling like we are in another era witnessing this miracle. At 11 years old, she actually captured the essence of Billie Holiday as well as anyone could. Her technique, timing, phrasing, stretching notes, and emotion captivated me totally. This recording was part of a much larger project of creating her album, It's Magic. There are many performances on the album which were part of a concert that is available on KZbin. The songs are all in the playlist that I provided you a while back. The concert was done when Angelina was 12 years old. Thanks for your continued support and peace out.
